Chute dryer for drying grain with hot air. The previously known shaft dryers for grain can be distinguished between two types. With type a, the grain itself is exposed to a stream of hot air, which heats it up and at the same time carries away the moisture escaping from the grain. With type b, however, the grain is heated by heating elements through which steam or hot water flows. The vapors that develop from the grain are specially extracted.
To be able to carry out these two drying processes with the same dryer is the purpose of the present invention, which relates to a Sebacht dryer for drying grain with hot air, in which the duct receiving the grain is interspersed with hot air channels that have regulating members. The subject of the invention is characterized in that the channels are delimited at the bottom by grain. and that the hot air can only be passed through the channels and the grain or only through the channels only by adjusting the said regulating organs, the hot air in the latter case taking the water vapors escaping from the grain into the channels with it.
On the accompanying drawing, an exemplary embodiment from the subject of the invention is shown. 1 and 2 are longitudinal sections; Fig. 3 illustrates the hot air channels in the grain chute; Fig. 4 is a cross section of the elements II, III or IV, Fig. 5 is a cross section of the radiator V.
The dryer is divided into inlet element I, preheater II, intermediate element III, foot IV and cooler V. In the inlet element is the common exhaustor a for the hot air and the cooling air with a movable base b1 in the grain inlet chute part b, c built-in. cl are openings for the entry of fresh air.
In elements II, HI and IV, which are encased with a heat protection compound, there is the hollow cylinder-shaped shaft that receives the grain. To the same the heating tubes d of the air heater are arranged in groups; while the wind pipe f for the cooling air is inside the shaft. The drying shaft and also the cooler V are provided with a number of radially directed, roof-shaped channels gl-g 'and hl- / i9.
Of these, the former gl-gl on the inner and the latter hl-h 'on the outer manhole wall have regulating elements <I> k </I> and <I> i, </I> which can be designed as slides or flaps and can be set externally. All ducts are delimited on the underside by grain and the walls delimiting the ducts at the side and top serve as radiators for air heating. The exhaust of the used hot air is provided between pipe f and the inner shaft wall. <I> n </I> is the grain outlet. <I> m </I> and d are steam lines.
With the shaft dryer described and shown, the drying of the grain can now be done in the following way.
For operation according to type a, the hot air is also allowed to flow through the grain. For this purpose the regulating elements k and i of the hot air ducts are brought into the closed position. As a result, the hot air is forced to flow after entering the channels g1 gli through the grain layer to the hot air channels hl-h "and from these channels to the main exhaust channel. The grain is thereby heated and gives its moisture to the flowing through Air, which is transported into the open through the exhaustor.
To convert the dryer for the drying process according to type b, all regulating elements <I> k </I> and <I> i </I> of the hot air ducts are opened so that the hot air can flow through all ducts through the drying shaft, as indicated in Fig. 1 for element 1I. As a result of the unhindered flow through the canals, it will no longer flow through the grain and heat it up directly, but only give off its heat to the canal walls. The grain slowly flows past these, where it heats up and the moisture to be extracted evaporates.
The water vapors that develop will rise from the strö-ming layer of grain on the open underside of the hot air ducts and be carried along by the hot air that passes through the ducts.
Since, as is well known, moist air is a better heat carrier than dry, in this drying process the used, moist hot air is not blown into the open air through the Exhaus tor a as in the first mentioned and as indicated in Fig. 1, but depending on the degree of its saturation completely or partly used again. This can take place according to FIG. 2 in such a way that the fresh air inlet openings cl are closed as required and the movable exhaust housing base hl is moved upwards.
Here, the used hot air is returned to the air heater through special pipes between the incoming grain.
Regardless of the drying process and without influencing it, the cooling air to be exited from outside can also be passed through the grain layer in the cooler V, depending on its temperature and the degree of intended cooling, as in FIG. 1 for the channels gs, <B > 9 '</B> and h8, h.3 indicated. However, as provided for channels g 'and h', they can only be allowed to flow through them to cool the channel walls. The consumed cooling air flows within the cooler and the pipe f to the exhaustor and is mixed with the used hot air through it and transported outside.
