Description

Permanent magnet and method of manufacturing this magnet. The main patent relates to a permanent magnet, characterized in that it is formed at least in part from an alloy containing iron, as the main component, from 7 to 40% nickel: and from 3 to <B > '-) 0% </B> of minimum aluminum. This patent. also comprises a process: for manufacturing this magnet, charac terized in that the latter is made, at least in part, from an alloy of the composition indicated above.

It was indicated in this main patent that the alloy of which the magnet is made may contain manganese in an amount between 0.5 and 10%, this metal increasing the qualities of said alloy.

However, it has been found that a magnesia content in the specified alloy of less than 0.5% is also capable of increasing the magnetic properties of the alloy.

The present invention includes doping a permanent magnet and a method of manufacturing such magnet. The permanent magnet according to the invention is formed, like that of the main patent, at least in part of an alloy containing iron, as the main component, from 7 to 4051o 'of niekel and from 3 to 20% of aluminum, but it is characterized in -that said alloy also contains manganese in an amount of less than 0.5%.

The carbon content of the alloy forming the magnet according to the invention can be up to 1.5%.

This. The alloy may furthermore contain chromium, in some cases in an amount of 1 to 5%, in other cases in an amount less than 1%. It may contain the usual impurities in small quantities. It may also contain small amounts of one or more of the following metals: cobalt, tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, copper, which improve its properties.

The following table gives the composition and the magnetic properties of a magnet according to the invention as well as, under number 1,. Of a manganese magnet as defined in the main patent to allow a comparison.
