Description
Patent addition and subordinate to main patent n 178328. Installation for the use of liquefied fuel gas. The object of the invention is an installation for the use of a liquefied fuel gas.
It comprises, like the installation according to claim II of the main patent, means for expanding the liquefied gas by using part of the energy which has been stored in it during its liquefaction and at least one device in which it then burns by releasing in calorific form at least part of the energy it contains by its nature.
It is, moreover, charac terized by the fact that the means for expanding the liquefied gas comprise a chamber where cold is produced and which is supplied with liquefied gas in the liquid state by the intermediary of a device ensuring a constant level of the liquid in this chamber, from where the gaseous product from the evaporation of the liquid goes, through a device which lowers the pressure to a given value, to the device in which it burns.
The single figure of the appended drawing shows schematically, in vertical section, an embodiment of the installation according to the invention, given by way of example.
This embodiment has a refrigeration appliance a comprising a cold room b where a relatively low temperature prevails and which is closed by a door bi. In the upper part of the chamber b is a second chamber 20 where a much lower temperature prevails and which is used for the production of ice cream in molds for example; it is closed by a door 21 and is surrounded by an enclosure 22.
Into the enclosure 22 opens a pipe h bringing a liquefied combustible gas from a carboy f, that is to say from a transportable receptacle where the liquefied gas is housed for use outside the place of production. So that the pipe h brings gas in the liquid state into the chamber 22, it is connected to a dip pipe 23 starting from the lower part of the cylinder f; a valve k controls the arrival of gas in the liquid state in the enclosure 22 at will.
This arrival is also controlled automatically by a needle 30 serving to close the orifice 32 of the pipe h and actuated by a float 31 carried by the liquefied gas in the liquid state in the enclosure 22.
From the top of the enclosure 22 leaves a pipe g leading to a burner i controlled by a valve j. In the pipe g is interposed a device serving to lower the pressure of the gaseous product leaving 22 to the value suitable for combustion in i: 1.020 to 1.030 kg absolute for example. This device can be either in 33., inside the chamber b, so that it is subjected to the thermal influence of the enclosure 22, or in 33b outside of the chamber. chamber b, so that it is thermally insulated from enclosure 22, which it is not influenced by.
The operation of the execution form described is as follows: Suppose that the cylinder f contains a liquefied fuel gas belonging to the group of acyclic hydrocarbons of the paraffin series, the general formula of which is C H2 +2, for example propane , whose formula is C3Hs and which has in commercial form an absolute vapor pressure of 7.8 kg at 15 C. If the valve k is opened, the vapor pressure existing at the top of the cylinder f drives off gas liquefied in the liquid state in the enclosure 22. The liquefied gas evaporates there, taking the desired heat from the chambers 20 and b which it thus cools.
From there, the gaseous product passes into the pipe g, passes through the device 33. or 33t "where it is brought under the suitable pressure to the burner. The needle 30 regulates the arrival of the gas in the liquid state in the chamber 22. as needed, so as to maintain a constant level.
Under these conditions, the energy which was stored by compression in the propane, during its liquefaction, is partially recovered in the form of cold, in the chambers 20 and b, whereas it would be lost otherwise, since the pressure gas must in all cases be brought to the low pressure necessary - 1.020 to 1..030 kg absolute, for example, necessary to supply the burner i .; as for the energy which it naturally contains, it is released in whole or in part in the burner i in the form of heat energy.
Because the liquefied gas arrives in the liquid state in enclosure 22, no premature evaporation and expansion takes place in pipe h .: the entire operation and all the de-tent take place in 22, d ' where greater absorption of heat by it and greater lowering of the temperature in 20 first, then in b. The liquid state of the liquefied gas in this chamber also makes it possible to adjust its arrival by controlling a simple float.
There may of course be more than one burner i.
Room b can be fitted with a heat-insulating jacket.
Other gases of the group mentioned can still be used, for example butane and isobutane, 04H1, commercial butane having an absolute pressure of 2.62 kg at 150 C, a mixture of two or three of these three gases. It is also possible to use gases which do not belong to this group and which have the desired properties.
It was indicated above that the gas used is housed in a transportable receptacle, the cylinder f, in which it has been housed in liquid form at the production plant or at an intermediate station and which allows it to be stored. serve in another location. It is also possible to envisage the case where the gas is used at the very place of its production to give rise to cold, to calorific energy, and possibly also to mechanical energy.
