Description

Process for the preparation of diethanolamine calcium bromide. The main patent relates to a process for the preparation of triethanolamine calcium bromide.

The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of diethanolamine calcium bromide. The process is characterized in that calcium bromide is allowed to act on diethanolamine. The reaction is conveniently carried out in the presence of a solvent or diluent, e.g. B. Al alcohol.

The previously unknown diethanolamine calcium bromide is a colorless, high-melting, crystalline product which is stable in air and which dissolves in water with an alkaline reaction. It can be used for pharmaceutical purposes.

Example: 20 parts by weight of calcium bromide (anhydrous) are dissolved in 65 parts by weight of alcohol, filtered, and 20 parts by weight of diethanolamine are added and cooled with ice water. The compound which has crystallized out is washed with a little alcohol and dried. When the mother liquor is concentrated, additional amounts of the salt are obtained. The diethanolamine calcium bromide thus obtained has the properties given above.
