Description
Practice bullet with dye filling. The bombardment of air vehicles located in the air for training purposes usually takes place in such a way that a sack attached to a rope hanging down from the aircraft and filled with sand, for example, serves as the target to be fired at. It hardly needs to be explained in more detail here that such training maneuvers do not take place without great danger to the life of the aircraft occupants
The purpose of the present invention is to make this target practice maneuver as safe as possible. It relates to a projectile which is characterized by a completely closed casing made of glass or glass-like material, which encloses a cavity, the cavity being filled with the dye filling up to the point of impact.
Bullets are known to have a dye filling to identify the meeting point. The shell of such Ge bullets are either made of metal, so that their use is in turn associated with danger to life, or then made of a material of lower mechanical resistance (for example paper or the like) so that they are out of the question for shooting with firearms.
On the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the subject invention is shown.
A is the completely closed mantle of the exercise projectile, which surrounds a cavity that is filled up to the point of impact with a colored mass a, for example in a colored. Pigment varnish, a red azo dye, coal dust, an ink-like liquid, etc. The jacket shell A is made of glass or a glass-like material.
The first practical attempts that led to satisfactory results were made with practice bullets (caliber 7, 13 and 20 mm), the jacket of which was made of a material similar to so-called Securit glass, which material has significantly better strength than the best normal glass. and has elastic properties.
Since the weight of the exercise bullet described is relatively small, its weight, in order to meet the ballistic requirements, can be increased by adding a suitable weight, such as lead powder, to the colored class a.
When an enemy aircraft is bombarded with the above-described missile, the latter bursts upon impact and a stain gives the shooter information about his accuracy at the point of impact, without the aircraft being seriously damaged.
