Description
Verfahren zur- Herstellung eines neuen Tegtilhilfsstoffes. Es wurde gefunden, dass man einen neuen Tegtilhilfsstoff erhält, wenn man das ,u-n- 13eptadecyl-benzimidazol mit Benzaldehyd kondensiert und auf das entstandene gonden satio,nsprodukt ein Sulfonierungsmittel ein wirken lässt.
Das neue Produkt stellt als Natriumsalz ein hellgefärbtes Pulver dar, das sich in Wasser leicht auflöst und dessen wässerige Lösungen ausgezeichnete Wasch-, Dispergier- und Schutzkolloideigenschaften besitzen.
Beispiel: Man erhitzt unter CO"-Atmosphäre und Rühren das Gemisch von 10:68 Teilen 1u-n- Hepta,decyl-benzimidazol, 480 Teilen Benz aldehyd und 10 Teilen Borsäure auf 200 bis <B><U>-)
l0'.</U></B> Eine Viertelstunde nach Erreichung der Reaktionstemperatur fügt man inner halb 3/4 Stunden noch 50 Teile Borsäure in kleinen Portionen hinzu. Das entstehende Wasser lässt man durch Verwendung eines mit Wasserdampf heiss ,gehaltenen Kühlers, und indem man. einen schwachen CO2-iStrom durch .die Apparatur gehen lässt, abdampfen.
Nach 24stündigem Erhitzen auf 200 bis 210<B>'</B> ist die Reaktion beendet. Man bläst ge gebenenfalls hierauf,den überschüssigen Benz aldehyd mit Wasserdampf ab, trennt das Reaktionsprodukt vom Wasser und trocknet dasselbe im Vakuum auf dem Wasserbade. Das bei<B>100'</B> flüssige Procdukt erstarrt nach einiger Zeit bei Zimmertemperatur :zu einer weichen kristallinen Masse.
Zur Reinigung kann man die konz. alkoholische Lösung des rohen Benzal-A-n-heptadecyl-benzimidazols mit wenig konz. Chlorwasserstoffs-äure ver setzen, wobei das Hydrochlorid (der Verbi:n- dung sich in Form. einer weissen Kristall masse abscheidet.
In einem mit Rührwerk versehenen Rühr- gefäss lässt man: zu 100 Teilen Schwefelsäure- monohydrat, das auf einer Temperatur von 10 bis <B>15'</B> ;
gehalten wird, langsam 50 Teile geschmolzenes Benzal-,u-n-heptadecyl-ben,z- imidazol zufliessen, indem man durch äussere Kühlung gleichzeitig @dafür sorgt,
dess die Temperatur des Gemisches nicht über<B>15'</B> steigt. Nachdem alles eingetragen ist und sich alles homogen in der Schwefelsäure ge löst hat, lässt man nun allmählich 90 bis 100 Teile anhydridhaliige Schwefelsäure (24% S03-Gehalt)
-zufliessen, indem die Sulfonie- rungstemperatur auf 12 bis <B>1,5'</B> .gehalten wird.
Die Sulfonierung äst beendet, wenn eine Probe :der Reaktionsmasse sich in Wasser klar auflöst. Die Sulfonierungsmas:se wird auf 600 Teile Eis gegossen, wobei sich die Sulfosäure abseheidet und von der wässerigen Sohwefelsäure abgetrennt werden kann.
Nach dem Neutralisieren der Sulfosäure mit ver dünnter Natriumhydrogydlösung und Ein- dampfen erhält man -das Natriumsalz :der Sulfonsäure.
Process for the production of a new Tegtilhilfsstoffes. It has been found that a new Tegtil auxiliary is obtained if the u-n-13eptadecyl-benzimidazole is condensed with benzaldehyde and a sulphonating agent is allowed to act on the gonden satio, nsprodukt.
As a sodium salt, the new product is a light-colored powder that dissolves easily in water and whose aqueous solutions have excellent washing, dispersing and protective colloid properties.
Example: The mixture of 10:68 parts of 1u-n-hepta, decylbenzimidazole, 480 parts of benzaldehyde and 10 parts of boric acid is heated to 200 to 200 to <B> <U> - under a CO "atmosphere and stirring.
10 '. A quarter of an hour after the reaction temperature has been reached, 50 parts of boric acid are added in small portions within 3/4 hours. The resulting water is left by using a cooler kept hot with steam, and by. a weak stream of CO2 through the apparatus, evaporate.
After heating to 200 to 210 hours for 24 hours, the reaction has ended. If necessary, the excess benzaldehyde is then blown off with steam, the reaction product is separated off from the water and dried in vacuo on the water bath. The liquid product at <B> 100 '</B> solidifies after some time at room temperature: to a soft crystalline mass.
For cleaning you can use the conc. alcoholic solution of the crude benzal-A-n-heptadecyl-benzimidazole with little conc. Hydrochloric acid, whereby the hydrochloride (the compound is deposited in the form of a white crystal mass.
In a mixing vessel equipped with a stirrer, the following are left: 100 parts of sulfuric acid monohydrate, which is at a temperature of 10 to 15 ';
is held, slowly 50 parts of molten benzal, u-n-heptadecyl-benzene, z-imidazole flow in, while by means of external cooling @ ensures that

The sulfonation ends when a sample: the reaction mass dissolves clearly in water. The sulfonation mass is poured onto 600 parts of ice, the sulfonic acid separating out and being able to be separated off from the aqueous sulfuric acid.
After neutralizing the sulfonic acid with a dilute sodium hydrogen solution and evaporating, the sodium salt is obtained: the sulfonic acid.
