Description

Briquette for combustion purposes. The present invention relates to a briquette for firing purposes, characterized in that. that it consists of a mixture of sawdust, crude oil, sulphite waste liquor, which occurs as a waste product in cellulose production, and a combustible blackening agent.

An example of a method for producing a briquette according to the invention is described in the following: A quantity of sawdust is dry mixed with wood coal dust, which can be done, for example, in a mixing drum. This dry mixture is fed into a high-speed countercurrent mixer with the addition of a quantity of crude oil, so that the dry mixture is thoroughly saturated with the crude oil. The oil-soaked mixture is then given sulphite waste liquor which occurs as a waste product in cellulose production, which permeates the mixture evenly and exerts a binding effect.

The mixture is now transferred from the high-speed countercurrent mixer to a continuously working screw conveyor, which is connected to a briquette stamp press. In this the mixture is pressed into briquette form under a pressure of 2 to 3 at. Each individual briquette then passes through a drying room on a conveyor belt, which it leaves in a ready-to-use condition.

The combustion properties of the briquettes produced by this process are excellent and the calorific value is superior to that of the conventional briquettes made from coal dust. In terms of price, they are considerably cheaper than the latter.
