Description

EMI0003.0001

EMI0003.0009

Device for determining the residual current to earth fault. The invention relates to a device for determining the residual current to earth fault, in particular its active and reactive component, in electrical networks provided with earth fault extinguishing devices.

It is known to use a purely ohmic or purely inductive resistance or a purely inductive resistance between a phase and earth to determine the degree of compensation achieved by earth fault extinguishing devices in high-voltage networks. to switch on a combination of the two, which are of such a size that only a slight voltage drop occurs, which does not affect operation, and an artificial, imperfect earth fault is created which is used to measure the degree of alignment.

In each case, a network size is compared with your electrical size occurring at the earthing resistor. This has the disadvantage that the measurement cannot be carried out at any point in the network. So one would have to use remote transmission devices for display at various points, but these are expensive and cumbersome.

According to the invention, when using purely ohmic grounding, two voltages taken from the network are compared; namely the voltage of the earth-closed phase to earth with the zero point displacement voltage.

The quotation of the magnitudes of these two voltages results, measured without taking into account the phase position, a measure for the residual current to earth (i.e. the active and reactive components are not separated). If this residual current becomes a minimum, the residual current to earth is purely ohmic, so that the degree of compensation achieved by the extinguishing device can also be determined. As will be explained later, the minimum is not sharp, so that the active component can be measured with a good approximation even if the resonance is not perfectly matched.

If one compares the voltages, taking into account the phase angle between them, the active component is obtained in a suitably calibrated resistance meter and the reactive component of the earth fault current in a reactance niesser. The prevailing conditions can best be seen using the diagram in the illustration.

The extinguishing effect of earth leakage coils (Petersen coils, quenching transformers or related types) depends on the degree of compensation. As is known, the coils should be set so that they are matched to the network frequency together with the earth capacitance of the network. Because of the unavoidable losses, only active current is let through. If a phase of the network, for example U, is earthed via an effective resistor R, a shift EN of the potential of the network zero point relative to the earth potential occurs.

It is known from the theory of high-ohmic resistance earthing of a network phase that the displacement with variable tuning of the quenching coil describes a circle which, in the assumed example of resistance earthing of phase U, has the position shown.

The vectors drawn from 0 to the circle give the zero point shift EN of the network with respect to earth, namely FN = J # Z, if with J </ I > the residual earth fault current and Z the resulting resistance, which results from the parallel connection of the earth fault devices and the earth capacitance of the network.

Point B corresponds to undercompensation of the network (Z is capacitive), point A to exact compensation (Z = W) and points to the left of A to overcompensation (Z = inductive, excess coil current). In the special case of exact compensation, UA = J.

R and 0A = J-W, with J now denoting the Wattrestatrom (Z = W). UA is egg; the earth voltage of the earthed phase U and UA = EN the zero point shift of the network.

If J is eliminated, the following remains .Ei : EN = R: W. It follows
EMI0002.0033
or the Wattrestatrom with solid phase grounding
EMI0002.0035
In this formula, Esi ,,. and R are known quantities, so that the residual wad current J. can be averaged if the quotient
EMI0002.0039
is measured. If the compensation is not exact (Z = W), the same measured value gives the residual current
EMI0002.0043
According to the present invention, the characteristic voltage ratio is determined in order to determine the residual current in the case of solid grounding.

If a quotient measuring device is arranged that directly measures the quotient of the two voltages Ei and EN, @ the size of the residual current is particularly easy to determine. As can be seen from the figure, it is not at all necessary to measure this quotient to determine the residual watt current with very exact compensation (point A), because the values of A and EN do not change very significantly when the capacitive earth fault current of the network is not precisely compensated, the Y curve of the residual current has a flat minimum.

The vector of the displacement describes a circle and the displacement points are very close to A on the circle. The center of the circle M is actually much closer to the star voltage 0U than is shown in the figure; the conditions in this figure are therefore still too unfavorable.

The execution of the measuring device is particularly simple if a commercially available direct current ohmmeter of known type is used, which is connected to the voltage Ei and EN of the measuring device via a rectifier. As the diagram shows, the values of the quotient change
EMI0003.0001
not very important if the tuning is not far from the exact compensation (A). The suitably calibrated quotient meter will measure the residual current with almost exact coordination with a fair degree of accuracy.

The actual value of the quotient gives the residual watt current only if there is exact compensation. However, there is no difficulty in measuring the residual watt current even if the compensation is not exact, for example in the case of undercompensation when the star point is shifted to B. Since the resistance grounding is carried out via a pure resistance R, the vector BU simultaneously determines the phase position of the current flowing through the resistance.

The resulting earth impedance of the entire network Z can be thought of as divided into two components of a parallel connection, one being a pure resistance, precisely the loss resistance W, which is the watt component
EMI0003.0008
and into a pure reactive component X to be connected in parallel, through which the reactive current component
EMI0003.0009
the residual current to earth is determined. These two currents are perpendicular to each other. The watt component is in phase with the driving voltage EN, the reactive component is perpendicular to it.

Since the distance BU is proportional to the residual current J , the distance BC is a measure for the residual current and the distance CU is a measure for the reactive residual current. The same relationship exists in the similar triangle OBD, which also has the angle 99 between earth voltage and zero point voltage at B. D0 is proportional to the reactive component of the residual current to earth, BD to the watt component.

The watt component of the residual current to earth is obtained if the quotient is formed from the two characteristic voltages E and EN, taking into account their phase displacement angle 5p. This gives the full earth fault wattage
EMI0003.0028
for example by measuring with a resistance meter of a known type.

The reactive component J $ of the residual water current can also be determined in a similar manner. According to the above, will
EMI0003.0033
A reactance meter of known type is suitable for this. In the case of a direct earth fault, the earth fault coils will absorb a higher current as a result of saturation than in the tests with high-ohmic resistance earths.

The reactive component of the residual current to earth determined with the reactance meter will experience a change as a result. Since the earth fault coils are still unsaturated up to 800o of the star voltage, this error can easily be corrected if the characteristics of the earth fault coils are known.

The scale of the instrument for displaying the reactive component of the residual current to earth simply has to experience a slight change, which corresponds to the more than proportional increase in current consumption in the case of a full earth fault.

The residual earth fault and its components Jw and J $ can also be determined with the help of a phase meter to which the two voltages Ei and EN are fed and which is exact at cos 59 = 1 Displays compensation. But the angle OUB between the star voltage U0 of the earth-connected phase (in the example U) and its earth voltage Ei = UB is a measure for the coordination ; it becomes zero with exact compensation, simultaneously with tp.

The use of a purely ohmic resistor for the knife grounding has the advantage that the risk of resonance displacement is avoided. If instead earthed via a choke coil, its inductance can form a series resonance circuit with undercompensation of the network with the remaining earth capacitance. The same applies in the case of overcompensation when using a capacitance to ground a phase. Resistance earthing can be done either directly or indirectly with the interposition of a transformer.

For the size of a resistor R, it is expedient to choose a value that has a large value compared to the effective resistance W of the resulting grounding consisting of the quenching device and network capacitance. As a result, the zero point shift Es remains so small when the measurement is carried out that no harmful earth leakage-like condition occurs.

If, for example, R = 4W is chosen, then the shift will not exceed 20% of the star voltage, a value that is certainly permissible.

If the network has a natural asymmetry (inequality of the earth capacitances of the three phases), the position of the circle diagram changes, but with exact compensation the point A lies on the vector of the star voltage of the earthed phase Measurement methods can also be used successfully in this case. Incidentally, it is not difficult to remove the influence of the asymmetry on the measurement by an auxiliary device.

As mentioned, the advantage of the device described is on the one hand that simple devices can be used and on the other hand that the measurement can be carried out in a station which does not match the location of the earth connection coils or the earth resistance. Such compensometers can be set up in every station; which measuring devices have which deliver the decisive characteristic voltages.

However, it is also possible to forward the result of the measurements described to a neutral point using known telemetry methods and to derive control pulses there or in another system by which the setting of the ground fault coils is changed until the most favorable compensation degree is set : In such cases too, the saturation characteristics of the earth fault coil must be taken into account. The control pulses can of course also be generated at the installation site of the measuring devices.
