Section insulator for traction lines. The present invention relates to a section insulator for traction lines, that is to say an insulating part bringing together two trolley wires arranged in the extension of one another and allowing the current taking members to pass from one traction wire to another in speed, without shocks and without requiring special maneuvers.
The section insulators used up to now and suitable indifferently for all contact points, casters, rubbers, bows or pantographs, generally comprise a board of organi that more or less combustible insulating material extended by two jaws enclosing the section wires and which cannot be adequately protected against the effects of breaking arcs. In other cases,
several insulating parts of various compositions have been provided, placed above the wire between the two jaws and one working in tension and the other in compression.
The insulator according to the present invention is characterized by an insulating part working both in tension and in bending, comprising an internal metal frame, and arranged above the elements to be connected.
These elements, such as the ends of the sectional wires, can be hand held in jaws integral with said insulating part. Preferably, a die rolling track interposed below the insulating part, in the interval separating the ends of the section wires, is separated from the insulating part by a screen made of non-combustible material.
An embodiment of the object of the invention applied to an insulator with two anchors has been shown by way of example in the accompanying drawings. Of course, one or both of these anchors could be replaced by simple connections to aerial devices.
Figs. 1 and 2 show this embodiment in elevation and in plan. The insulator shown comprises a main part 1 in a molded insulating material designed to be able to work both in traction and in bending, reinforced by an internal fur, for example made of steel and placed above the wires a and b sections separated by the insulator.
This insulating part carries at its ends the jaws 2, 2 'clamping the wire in a horizontal plane clearly below the part which thus works on bending and traction. A removable raceway 3 disposed below the part 1 ensures the continuity of the passage of the current taking members but does not participate in the general resistance of the assembly.
Between the raceway 3 and the insulating part 1 serving for the resistance and on the upstream side is placed a screen 4 of non-combustible material effectively protecting the part 1 against the arcs produced by the rupture of the circuit when the The insulator is crossed under load.
The anchors of the wires a, b in the jaws 2, 2 'are carried out in any suitable manner, for example according to that covered by French patent No. 680896 of the company known as: Aciéries de Gennevilliers dated August 28, 1929.
