B. Zellulose.
acetat oder Nitrozellulose und andere ge- eignete Zusätze können im Gemische mit den Polyvinylverbindungen zur Anwendung kommen;
0 g fein gepulverter Magnesia innig vermischt.
g fein pulverisiertem gebrann tem Gips innig vermischt.

Klebstoff. Will man rasch erstarrendes Verbandmaterial haben. z.
Erweichungs, mittelerweichen, z. B. in Äther, Alkohol, Dichloräthylen, Chloroform oder dergl. geeigneten Lösungs- mitteln.
Process for the production of materials for casting. Subject of the present. The invention is a method for the production of materials for .Steifverbands. It is not just an improvement of the usual plaster of paris bandages and the light Pig elements, such.
B. Magnesia, containing lower weight dressing materials, but also about dressing materials: which consist entirely of light: organic .Stoffe, and still have a sufficiently stiffening effect.
It was still an unsolved task, stiffening and hardening inorganic fillers, especially pigments, on dressing materials in a satisfactory manner, non-dusting, durable, storable,
In particular, to apply the atmospheric and climatic influences invariably, etc. Even the plaster bandages made by adding cellulose acetate are not yet satisfactory.
With the addition of cellulose acetate, better surface adhesion is achieved, for example: of plaster, it:
however, there is still an annoying dusting, crumbling of the applied pigment, the instability against humidity and the like. a.
Above all, this improved plaster of paris bandage also shows the property that has hitherto generally been characteristic of plaster of paris bandages: the unpleasant, unclean processability when softening for use.
A way has now been found to impregnate or impregnate the banding material with solid substances, such as pigments, in a permanent, storage-proof and, in particular, tropicalized-proof manner. to cover,
but at the same time also making the application of such dressing materials much more convenient and, above all, cleaner.
The subject matter of the invention is a method for the production of materials for casts, which is characterized in that carrier webs suitable for dressing purposes are provided with at least one reinforcement and binding agent on at least one side,
which contains a water-insoluble polyvinyl compound which is less flexible than rubber.
This can be achieved by the z. B. consisting of fabric, paper and paper stock with the as a binding agent, adhesive, protective coating and at the same time as a stiffening agent, the nenden water-insoluble polyvinyl compound mixed,
which at the same time favors the intended use, for example, the subsequent homogenization and stiffening of the bandage, but above all when it is softened before use. even enables clean work when connecting.
The use of such a binder also enables the use of inorganic stiffening and hardening fillers, such as B.
To do without plaster of paris or magnesia altogether and thus achieve completely new and particularly light casts.
This requirement is satisfied by all polyvinyl compounds, in particular esters, acetals and ester acetals of polyvinyl alcohol, but also polystyrenes and the like, the flexibility of which is lower than that of esters of polymeric acrylic and methaeric acid, and indeed less than that of rubber.
These relatively less flexible polyvinyl compounds wind all more or less excellent adhesives, coatings, protection and stiffening agents and, in view of the large number of varieties already known today, have a rich selection for special purposes.
There is the easily soluble, brittle, but voluminous, low-polymer vinyl acetate, on the other hand Ida's sparingly soluble but tough and annoying high-polymer product, as well as other polyvinyl esters with gradually modified properties, especially hard polyvinyl formaldehyde aetals,
and ester acetals, particularly tough polyvinyl chlorides, polystyrenes, etc., cellulose compounds, e.g. B. cellulose.
acetate or nitrocellulose and other suitable additives can be used in a mixture with the polyvinyl compounds;
For example, by combining polyvinyl esters and cellulose esters, even that can be possible under certain circumstances.
The adhesive and filling capacity of the base body with the solidifying and stiffening effect can be favorably evaluated.
This is of particular advantage for bandages in which the necessary softening is carried out before use by an organic solvent which, for example, dissolves the polyvinyl compounds and makes use of their adhesive effect,
on the other hand, it leaves the cellulose ester portion undissolved and maintains its existing stiffening effect. Another possibility of modification is that the water-insoluble polyvinyl compounds are hydrophilic,
strongly swelling or soluble in water. Here, for example, polyvinyl esters with a particularly low degree of polymerisation are used in graduated quantities,
partially saponified esters and ester acetals of polyvinyl alcohol and free polyvinyl alcohols of various degrees of polymerization are possible. If necessary, the relative moderate rigidity of the stiffening poly-
vinyl compounds through the addition of stinky polyvinyl compounds, such as polymeric aerylic acid or methaerylic acid or the derivatives of such acids or substances from the class of natural or synthetic rubbers,
precisely adapt to the intended use and the like. Furthermore, the effect of the stiffening polyvinyl compounds or their combinations with additives can be achieved through the addition of plasticizers. modified accordingly. Example A gauze bandage was used with a 10%
igen solution of polyvinyl alcohol acetaldehyde aoetal in 96% alcohol impregnated on both sides. The dried bandage can be softened by briefly immersing it in ether or another organic emollient and can then be neatly wrapped.
After a short time, @dar association is hard and; stiff.
If necessary, such a rigid bandage can subsequently be made to detach using a suitable softening agent or solvent.
Example 2: 1600 cm $ of a 40% solution of polyvinylaliko # holaoetaldebydacetal in 9 @ 6% alcohol were mixed with 15,
0 g of finely powdered magnesia intimately mixed. A gauze bandage impregnated on both sides with this mixture gave a rigid bandage of similar properties to that described in Example 1, but which showed greater hardness and resistance.
Example 3: 1000 cm 'of a 14 percent by weight solution of. Polyvinyl alcohol formaldehyde aceta1 in a solvent mixture of dichloroethylene and ethyl alcohol are burned with 11000 .g. Plaster blown. This fit is applied to bandages, e.g. B. Mull! - bandage applied.
The dried bandage is soaked in dichloroethylene, for example, by briefly immersing it, and made windable to form a rigid bandage.
Example A resolution of 5.0.0.: G of medium-viscosity polyvinyl acetate in 500 g of 96% alcohol is 12.5.0,
g finely powdered fired plaster of paris thoroughly mixed. This mixture is applied to one side of a gauze bandage or on the other side in a suitable white and in the desired thickness. The bandage impregnated in this way is dried. You can no: oh with an additional cover z. B.
by polyvinyl aoatate itself, partially saponified polyvinyl acetate or polyvinyl alcohol for the purpose of particularly high tropicality.
This bandage can be used for a short time. Immersion in hot water can be softened and made ready to wrap. A rigid bandage is obtained which already hardens after a short time.
The strengthening and supporting effect of the polyvinyl compounds makes it possible to use paper materials instead of fiber fabrics. For example, the pigment coating given in Example 4 can be used to impregnate paper binders.
An expedient embodiment of the process, which among other things allows the use of plaster of paris as a pigment to soften the finished plaster cast material also by: briefly immersing it in cold water, is the following:
The selected bandage material made of textile fabric, metal fabric, paper and the like, by itself or in conjunction with one another, is appropriately combined with a suitable solution for itself or in conjunction with another. Adhesive as adhesive,
Protective and stiffening agents the Nenden Polyvin ylverbindungen one or @ double-sided coated respectively. impregnated and then expediently by a suspension BEZW. a slurry of the desired pigment, for example a slurry of gypsum, in a suitable organic liquid,
Advantageously, one that loosens or swells the adhesive.
If you use particularly adhesive substances, it is sufficient to use small amounts of the adhesive and to soften the pigmented dressing material, especially plaster of paris bandages and the like. in cold water and the quick setting respectively. Hardening of one,
such material is favored.
In terms of tackiness and suppleness, the adhesives can be made using suitable additives, in particular plasticizers, by suitable preparation, for example polymerization, in the presence of certain additives or solvents, for example according to. D. R. P.
No. 471127 & b @ e-influenced or by pigmentation with an additional pigment in their adhesive power b.ezw. Vex enlargement of the adhesive surface are favored.
Example 5: A solution obtained according to D.R .. P. No. 471278 by polymerizing vin: ylaoetat in the presence of alcohol is adjusted to a solids content of 20% polyvinylamtate. This solution makes a wide 17-thread gauze bandage with such a gauze
ID = "0004.0022"> drawn at speed and the application is regulated by rubber rollers in such a way that, for example, 2-4 g of solid polyvinyl acetate is applied per meter to the finished bandage.
The moist bandage coated with the adhesive solution is expediently pulled through a chamber, with the elimination of evaporation possibilities, in which there is a paste of 300 g of gypsum in 125 cm of methanol.
The outlet opening from this chamber is regulated, for example, in such a way that the finished dry bandage per meter 35-:
15 g total pigment. The bandage coming from the application box is suitably placed in a channel.
Drying cabinet or by means of some other suitable device, whereby the solvent can be recovered, wound up and, if necessary, equally divided into the appropriate lengths.
By increasing the concentration of the adhesive solution or the amount applied to the bandage, for example of polyvinyl acetate, which is regulated, for example, by a rubber wiper or in another appropriate way,
the stiffness of the tissue can be influenced. namely increase or change qualitatively as desired,
Furthermore, regulate the amount of pigment to be applied and thereby, among other things, favor the possibility of softening in cold water and also the rate of solidification in a certain way.
The plaster of paris bandage produced according to Example 5 can be softened, for example, by briefly immersing it in cold water, without any significant amounts; The plaster of paris is lost and solidifies in a short time.
The less polyvinyl acetate is used as an adhesive, the lower the stiffness of the gauze fabric and the higher the rate of solidification.
In this way, it is easy to adjust the freezing speeds and the rigidity level to the respective requirements.
The adhesive f solution can. u. a. for the purpose of improving the bonding and drying process, the degree of rigidity and the like. a.
the adhesive solution BEZW a useful porous body. surfactant can be added as a pigment. In the present example, instead of the polyvinyl acetate spirit solution, for example, a 1,
Emulsify 5 g of polyvinyl acetate solution in methanol with 3-5% silica and apply.
Instead of a suspension of the pigment in methanol, methylene chloride or the like, or a mixture of such suitable solvents, in particular those
which favor the suspension of the pigments or contain emulsifying additives, you can be respectively drawn over with adhesive in a suitable manner. impregnated substances that are still sticky due to the dry pigment itself,
for example magnesia or plaster of paris. Pull through in an appropriate manner. By adjusting the apparatus, in particular the outlet opening, the stripping device, known per se, by regulating the speed, the amount of adhesive,
Depending on the degree of moisture in the adhesive solution, the amount of pigment applied can be regulated and, for example, the pigmented bandage can be immediately obtained in a condition that is ready to be wrapped.
However, the pigment or the filler can also be applied by powdering or in any other way to the still tacky bandage coated with polyvinyl acetate. The required adhesiveness can also be brought about subsequently, for example by heating.
By applying hydrophilic substances in particular, for example low-viscosity polyvinyl acetate itself or polyvinyl alcohol, over the finished application, the resistance of the finished plaster of paris bandage, for example, primarily its resistance to the tropics, can be advantageously influenced, without appropriate Provided that the coating is carried out - a very moderate coating is advantageous - the softening process suffers when it is used.
Instead of the pigment, for example al.s gypsum, other pigments, e.g. B. Magnesia, gieselgur, asbestos flour, u. a. m. use.
If you want to increase the stiffness, he increases, for example, the amount of polyvinyl bodies or. Adhesive. Do you want bandages that solidify quickly? z. B. for the purpose of putting on corsets, the amount of adhesive and pigment, e.g.
