Description

Toothbrush. The invention relates to a toothbrush with a cross-sectionally U-shaped brush head, the length of which corresponds approximately to the width of a molar tooth; it consists in that the two lateral borate-bearing brush head parts have longer bristles near their side edges than their central sections.

This creates two opposing, oppositely curved, concave brush surfaces so that the longer end bristles can penetrate into the spaces between the teeth during the cleaning movement. They are then pushed out of them again during movement, intervene again, etc. and thereby cause a safe removal of food residues from the spaces between the teeth.

In addition, the bristles of the side brush heads also embrace and massage the edge of the gums. It is particularly advantageous to arrange the longer end bristles in tufts, the axes of which are inclined to the direction of movement and include acute angles with it,

because then the tips of these bushes during resilient grinding over the tooth sides of the surfaces more easily move and penetrate more safely and better into the spaces between the teeth and better grip and convey food residues held there.

The toothbrush according to the invention can also be designed in such a way that the middle part of the bristle-bearing brush head has longer bristles in its middle part than at its ends,

so that its brush surface can be convex or roof-shaped. As a result, the bristles working on the chewing surface can engage in the spaces and in the deeper parts of the chewing surface between the protruding cusps. The chewing surface is therefore cleaned better, despite the unevenness of the same, than when brushing with a flat brushing surface.

Furthermore, the two side parts can be connected to the middle brush head part by corrugated parts, so that the brush head parts spring against each other well, whereby the different thicknesses of the teeth are taken into account. The handle or handle of the brush is also advantageously attached to the middle brush head part and is usefully in one piece with this.

If pressure is exerted when cleaning the chewing surface, twisting or bending of the brush parts is avoided.

In the drawing, three exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are illustrated, namely: Fig. 1 is a plan view and Fig. 2 is a front view of a first example of the new toothbrush, FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 illustrate in plan view Front view and in longitudinal section a second embodiment and FIGS. 6, 7 and 8 in side, front and top view a third embodiment of the toothbrush.

According to FIGS. 1 and 2, the brush head 1 is U-shaped in cross section, where the legs 2 protrude from the base plate 3 at right angles. The length of the brush sets is roughly the same as that of a molar. The bristles inserted in the legs 2 are of different lengths, namely in the toothbrush according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the bristles 5 are cut so that the brush surface formed by their free ends in the cross-sections that through to the base plate 3 parallel planes are created who is concave.

As a result, the opening limited by the bristles 5 of both legs 2 has the shape of an oval open at both ends. The longer end bristles 5 'are preferably, as FIGS. 1, 3 and 8 show, inclined to the direction of movement of the brush, that is to say to the plane of symmetry of the same.

In the described design of the toothbrush, not only the side surfaces of the teeth are cleaned when the bristles of the two side brush head parts run over the teeth, but also the extended end bristles that are alternately pushed outwards and spring back again Between spaces between the teeth respectively. the jumping parts are effectively cleaned of food residues.

As can be seen from Fig. 5, the bristles 4 of the middle part 3 used in the head part are cut so that the brush surface is convex or roof-shaped. The bristles of this surface also get into the recesses of the chewing surface between the cusps and into the spaces between the teeth of the chewing surface. The bristles of the side parts 2 also embrace and massage the edge of the gums.

The effect on the gum line is particularly beneficial if the bristle carriers have the shape of oval leaves (Fix. 5 and 6).

If the legs 2 of the brush head are not flat, as in FIG. 1, but rather slightly concave inwardly, the middle bundles of bristles of the legs 2 can be shorter or shorter. the side bristles should be longer than in the case of very flat legs, so that the bristles in the middle are as resistant as possible and those penetrating into the spaces between the teeth,

longer end bristles are as flexible as possible. Such an embodiment is shown in FIGS. 6 to B.

In the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the bristle carriers 2 and 3 are arched on the outside, which enables a suitable distribution of the bristles that is well adapted to the tooth shape and a more convenient handling of the brush. Furthermore, the two legs 2 can be arranged in such a way that they form an obtuse angle with the bottom plate 3 (Fix. 7).

The head parts 2 and 3, the length of which corresponds to the width of a molar tooth, can spring against each other in all embodiments, so that the side parts 2 always lie well against the tooth side surfaces.

In order to achieve good resilience properties for the materials used for toothbrushes (cell horn, synthetic resin, etc.) without protrusions (protrusions preventing it from being pulled back and forth), parts 3 and 4 can be replaced by inwardly turned corrugations or corresponding $ -shaped parts (Fig 4) be connected to each other.

The handle 6 (FIG. 6) can expediently be attached to the central head part 3 and consist of one piece with it, as FIG. 5 shows. This prevents the brush head from bending up; that would affect the correct bristle position, avoided even with strong pressure on the handle.
