Pressure medium brake, in particular for railways. The invention relates to a pressure medium brake, in particular for railways, in which a change in the pressure in the brake cylinder is caused by an opposite change in the pressure in the brake line. Such brakes are common on trains in which the pressures in the brake cylinders of the individual vehicles are to be controlled jointly by the driver's post.
The invention aims to improve the pressure medium brake by assigning the various functions to be exercised by the control valve to special organs in their effectiveness and controllability.
An embodiment of the subject invention is shown in the drawing. Fig. 1 shows schematically a brake for railways; Fig. 2 and 3 together show the control valve of the brake, as it can be practically performed, in section; Fig. 4 shows schematically part of the brake according to FIG. 1 in a different Ausfüh approximate form; . FIG. 5 also schematically shows a further embodiment of another part, the brake according to FIG. 1, while FIG. 6 shows this detail in a constructive embodiment; Fig. 7 shows schematically another member of the brake according to FIG. 1 in a modified design.
From Figs. 1, 2 and 3 it can be seen that the brake comprises the following components: a brake cylinder 1, an auxiliary air tank 2, a control tank 3, a control member 4, a filling device 5, a main control member 6, an accelerator 7 and a Closing body 8.
The various components are connected to the brake line (not shown) by a line 9 via a shut-off valve 10. The auxiliary air tank 2 is connected to the element 6 through a line 11 with a cock 12. The control element 4 contains a minimum pressure element 13.
The general arrangement and design of the various components is described in detail below. The control element 4 has a housing with a line chamber 14 which is connected to the line 9 through a line 15; the bottom of the chamber 14 is formed by a displaceable closure part 16 (shown in the form of a membrane in FIG. 2), under which there is a control chamber 17, which is connected by a line 18 is connected to the control container 3 . The connection between the chambers 14 and 17 is made possible under normal conditions by a passage 19 in the closure part 16.
The upper opening of the passage 19 is controlled by a piston 20 that is under spring pressure. The connection between the chamber 17 and the space 21 is controlled by a piston 22, The upper part 28 of which is designed as a valve which is intended to close off the opening 24. The lower part 25 also consists of a valve which, on the valve seat 26, establishes the connection between the spaces 27 and 28 in the lower part of the housing. The connection between the spaces 21 and 27 can take place through the piston 22 or on the periphery of the same, and the space 27 is through a line 29 in connection with the auxiliary air tank 2.
The lower part of the housing of the control element 4 contains the minimum pressure element 13, which consists of a displaceable closure part 30, the lower side of which is under atmospheric pressure and the pressure of a spring 31 . The upper side is under the pressure of a chamber 3.2, which is connected to the brake cylinder 1 through the line 33.
The closing part 30 is used to actuate the valve 34, which controls the connection between the space 28 and the chamber 32. The housing of the control member 4 also contains a shut-off valve 35 that is actuated by a closed tubular spring 3, 6, the interior of which is connected to the chamber 17 through a channel 37. The tubular spring is located in a chamber 38 which is connected to the chamber 14 by a channel 39.
The filling device 5 has a one-sided check valve 40 and a valve 41, you are actuated by a sliding closure part 42, the lower side of which is under atmospheric pressure and under the pressure of a spring 43. The auxiliary air tank 2 is in communication with the space above the closing part 42 through lines 4-4 and 45 and with the non-return valve 40 through line 44 and a regulating valve 46.
The main control element 6 has a housing in which an adjustable closing part 47 is installed, the lower side of which is under the pressure of a chamber 48 which is connected to the control container 3 by a line 49. The upper side of the terminating part 47 is in connection with the line 9 through a line 50 and the closing element 8.
The end part 47 is rigidly connected by means of a rod 51 to an adjustable end part 52, the upper side of which is connected to the brake cylinder 1 through the channel 53 and the control path 54. The lower side of the closure part 52 is under atmospheric pressure.
The rod 51 is rigidly connected to a tubular piston M, the housing of the main control member 6 in the Ge. The interior of this piston is in constant communication with the atmosphere through a channel 56 and a control valve 57.
The upper part of the piston 55 forms the seat of an outlet valve 58 which is rigidly connected to an inlet valve # 5,9. The latter is normally pressed by a spring 60 onto a f "n Ntz 61 . The valve 59 controls the compressed air that is supplied by the line < B> 11 from to a chamber 62 which is connected to the brake cylinder 11 through the lines 63 and 313 represents.
The accelerator 7 has a housing with an adjustable closing part 64 and a valve 66 located therein. The lower side of the closing part is connected by a line 05 to the space 27 of the control organ 4. The upper side of the Ab Closing part -64 is in connection with the line 9. The closing part 64 actuates the valve 66, which is normally kept closed by a spring -67. The opening of the seat 68 of this valve creates a connection between the line 9 and the channel 69. This channel 6, 9 leads to the opening 70 of the housing of the control element 4, which is located on the seat for the valve 35 is formed.
The closing member 8 has a ver slidable closing part 71, one side of which is connected through the channel 72 to the line 49 (FIG. 1) and the other side to the line 9. The purpose of the closing part 71 is to control the connection between the lines 9 and 50 by means of the valve 73. In the scheme of Fig. 1, a one-sided check valve 74 is also given, which also establishes a connection between tween the lines 9 and 50; however, this check valve can be omitted if desired.
It should also be noted that the valves shown in FIG. 1 are all indicated in the open position for the sake of better understanding, but that some other positions result during the operation of the brake.
Likewise, in the embodiment indicated in FIGS. 2 and 3, the taps 12 and 57 are replaced by a single tap with a double set of bores and channels.
The operation of the above-described enclosed brake is as follows: When the brake is filled for the first time, the compressed air from the brake line passes through the cock 10 in the open position to the auxiliary air tank 2 via the line 9 and the filling device 5, which the The flow of air to the auxiliary air container 2 regulates automatically, depending on the pressure existing in the auxiliary air container, in such a way that -at the beginning of the filling process when the container is almost empty or almost empty. its pressure is relatively low, the flow is stronger than afterwards.
In this way, the filling time of an empty or almost empty container (applies to all brake containers) is significantly shortened and is about as long as the filling time necessary for a container that is only partially or only slightly emptied. The time required to completely fill the container of a certain number of vehicles in a train is therefore essentially unchangeable and un dependent on the state of the original pressure in the individual containers.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the valve 41 will keep ge by the action of the spring 43 in the open position, as long as the pressure in the container 2 is lower than the pressure for which the spring 43 has been set is.
Under these conditions, the compressed air passes unhindered from the line 9 through the open valve 41 and the line 44 to the container 2. The air also flows to the container 2 via the check valve. 40 and the valve 46 with a "precisely defined throttle bore. Both paths are thus initially free.
: As soon as the pressure in the container 2 has risen to the specified value as a result of the rapid influx of compressed air, as described above, the valve 41 closes, since the container pressure is transmitted to the upper side of the closure part 42 through the line 45. After the valve 41 is closed, the air flows over from the line 9 to the line 44 only through the check valve 40 and the calibrated throttle bore in the cock 46, the size of which is such that the amount of air throughflow is relatively low, so that the further filling of the container 2 valve 41 is still open.
The cock 46 can be provided with two or more bores of different sizes, so that the remainder of the charging of the container 2 takes place in accordance with the position of the cock 46 in different times.
In the embodiment illustrated in FIG. 3, all of the compressed air initially supplied to the container 2 through the line 9 flows through the check valve 40. It flows from the check valve 40 through the open valve 41 and the lines 45 and 44 to the container 2 and the other part through the tap 46, so that a double path is formed. As soon as the pressure in the container 2, which acts on the closure part 42 with bellows, causes the valve 41 to close, the second filling stage begins, with filling only being carried out via the throttle bore of the cock 46.
The control container 3 is from the auxiliary air container 2 through the line 2e, the control member 4, that is, the spaces 27 and 21, the opening 24, the chamber 17 and the line 18 > filled, the latter can be provided with a narrowed passage or a Droseelbohrung 75, which determines the filling time of the Steuerbehäl age 3 if desired.
Compressed air also arrives from the line 9 through the open valve 73 and the line M on the top of the terminating part 47 of the main control element 6. The space on the underside of the terminating part 47 is filled with compressed air from the control container 3 through the line 49.
In the driving resp. Brake release position, where the normal or operating pressure is present in the brake line, the end part 64 of the accelerator 7 is in its lower position, as indicated in Fig. 2, so that the valve 6-6 is activated by the spring 67 </ B> is closed.
The closing part 16 of the control element 4 must be in its lower position, as indicated in FIG. 2, so that the upper opening is left while the valve 23 is in its open position and the valve 26 is in the closed position. The brake cylinder 1 is connected to the atmosphere through the line 63, the open valve 58, the inside of the piston 55, the channel 56 and one Boh tion of the tap 57 connected.
The chamber, which is provided under the closing part 52 in the main control element 6, has atmospheric pressure; the tree above the end part 47 is under brake line pressure and the space under this end part under control tank pressure, that is, the normal brake line pressure.
The valve 73 of the closing member 8 is held by the spring 7,6 (Fig. 1) in the open position and also the closing valve 35 from the spring 77 (Fig. 2).
The valve 34 of the minimum pressure element 13 is "as indicated, held in the open position by the spring 31, since the pressure on both sides of the closure part 30 is equal to the atmospheric pressure .
To perform service braking, the pressure in the brake line is reduced as usual, and this pressure reduction is transferred into the room. above the terminating part A4 of the accelerator 7. The terminating part 64 moves upwards under the influence of the now higher pressure in the space below it (auxiliary air tank pressure). As a result, the valve 66 is opened despite the pressure of the spring 67.
The compressed air now flows from the brake line to the brake cylinder through the Lei device 9, the open valves 66, 3-5 and 34 and the line 33. This local compressed air tap supports the transfer of the pressure drop in the brake line over its entire length to known Wise.
. As soon as a certain decrease in the brake line pressure in the line 9 (in relation to the force of the spring 77) has occurred, the shut-off valve 35 is closed by the closed oil tube spring 36 acting control tank pressure which is greater than the reduced brake line pressure which acts in the chamber 38. A further outflow of compressed air from the brake line to the brake cylinder is prevented by the valve M.
The local, tapping of compressed air; from the brake line, is thus limited by the end valve 35 from. The shut-off valve 35 is advantageously set in such a way that shut-off occurs when the pressure in the brake line is reduced by approximately 0.4 kg / cm 2.
The pressure decrease in the brake line acts on the control element 4 as follows: The pressure decrease in the brake line transmitted through the line 15 to the chamber 14 causes the end part 16 to be shifted upwards as a result of the control tank pressure in the chamber 17, which shook the rash . This closes the upper opening of the passage 19 through the bulb 20. The normal connection between the chambers 114 and 17 is thus interrupted as soon as the pressure in the brake line begins to decrease, and the end part 16 moves quickly and vigorously upwards under the influence of this pressure reduction and pushes while the valve 23 on its seat, closes there through the opening 24 and lifts the valve 25 from its seat 2,6.
The valve 23 thus interrupts the connection between the chamber 1,7 and the space 21, that is between the control container 3 and the auxiliary air container 2, so that the pressure in the Control tank is retained when the pressure in the auxiliary air tank is lowered, as described below is ben.
By opening the valve 25, compressed air can be injected quickly from the auxiliary air tank 2 into the brake cylinder 1. The compressed air flows from the auxiliary air tank 2 through the line 529, the open seat 26, the open valve 34 and the line 33 and finally reaches the brake cylinder 1.
Of course, before the rapid injection of compressed air from the auxiliary air tank 2 into the brake cylinder 1, as described above, by the reduced brake line pressure, which is fully discharged from line 9 through line 50 is transferred to the over part of the closing part 47 of the main control element 6, this closing part shifted slightly upwards under the predominant influence of this control tank pressure in the chamber 48, whereby the upper end of the piston -55 at the outlet valve 58 comes to concern and so the connection between the brake cylinder 1 and the atmosphere is interrupted.
As soon as the pressure in the brake cylinder 1 has risen to a certain value due to the rapid injection of compressed air, as described above, the regulating or minimum pressure valve 34 is closed by the closing part 30 moving downwards , because the brake cylinder pressure in the chamber 32 of the organ 13 exceeds the opposite pressure of the spring 31 . The further filling of the brake cylinder with compressed air is made impossible by the valve 34 in this way.
If the pressure in the brake line, which acts on the upper side of the end part 47 of the main control member, is further reduced, this end part moves even more due to the effect of the predominant control tank pressure in the chamber 48, whereby the piston 55 is further raised and the inlet valve 59 opens. It is thereby compressed air from the auxiliary air container 2 to the brake cylinder 1 through the line 29, the valve 12, the line 11, the open seat 61 and the lines 6, 3 and < B> 33 supplied.
The cock 12, which, as mentioned earlier, can be combined with the cock 5 7 , is provided with a calibrated bore which regulates the rate at which the brake cylinder 1 is filled with pressure air. It is expediently provided with holes of different sizes, the different filling times of the brake cylinder, according to changing operating conditions (e.g. for freight, passenger and express trains), so that the filling time for the can be.
The pressure generated in the brake cylinder 1 in this way is transmitted to you inside of the bellows-equipped closing part -52 through the regulating valve 54 and the channel 53. As soon as the brake cylinder pressure has reached a value , which corresponds to the pressure decrease in the brake line, the end part 52 with the rod 51 and the piston 55 is moved downwards, overcoming the opposite pressure of the control tank in the chamber 48.
The inlet valve 59 is then closed by the spring 60 and thus the further filling of the brake cylinder 1 from the auxiliary air container 2 is interrupted.
The regulating valve 54 provided between the brake cylinder 1 and the end part 52 makes it possible to change the brake cylinder pressure corresponding to a certain pressure reduction in the brake line.
After the inlet valve 59, as described above, has been closed, the amount of air is also included in the exhaust valve 58 in the brake cylinder 1, which is also in the final position, until a new pressure change is made in the brake line. If, on the other hand, the pressure in the brake cylinder unintentionally reduces ver, z. B. by losses, the pressure reduction of the closing part 52 with the rod 51 and the piston 55 is moved up again, whereby the inlet valve 59 is opened again and a new one Filling with compressed air from the auxiliary air tank 2 takes place until the pressure drop is compensated for again.
If you want to increase the amount of braking, the pressure in the brake line is further reduced, whereby the rod 51 of the main control element 6 moves up again to open the inlet valve 59 and the brake cylinder 1 from the auxiliary air tank 2 to fill further in the manner already described. The inlet valve 59 is closed again, relief pressure is established.
The cylinder pressure can be increased in this way by lowering the pressure in the brake line until a certain maximum pressure in the brake cylinder, which depends on the mode of operation of the closing element 8, has been reached.
If the brake line pressure is reduced, as long as this is greater than that which corresponds to the maximum pressure of the brake cylinder, the valve 713 of the closing element 8 remains in its open position, as indicated in FIGS. 1 and 3. If, however, the pressure of the brake line is further reduced, the control tank pressure, which is transmitted into the interior of the bellows-fitted end part 71 through the channel 72, overcomes the cooperating pressures from the brake line and prevails the spring 7.0 '. The valve 78 is then moved into the closing position and interrupts the connection between the line 50 and the line 9, so that on the upper side of the closing part 47 of the main control element 6, the pressure remains constant.
The latter can then no further filling of the Bremszylin ders l. from the auxiliary air reservoir '.).
It is therefore clear that the pressure drop in the brake line at which valve 73 closes depends on the pressure of the control tank and the tension of spring 76. If an auxiliary air tank 2 of relatively large content is used and the effect of the pressure reduction in the brake line is limited to a maximum value by the closing element 8, as described above, the filling process of the brake cylinder 1 can also be used , compressed air can apparently be accelerated, so that the time necessary to achieve a maximum pressure in the brake cylinder is correspondingly shortened.
In order to release the brake step by step after the step-by-step braking described above, the pressure in the brake line is gradually increased as usual. As soon as the increased pressure of the brake line with the cooperation of the spring 76 outweighs the pressure of the control tank, the valve 73 of the closing element 8 is opened again, so that the upper side of the closing part 47 of the main control element 6 is again under brake line pressure.
Due to the increase in the pressure in the brake line, the end part 47 is displaced, overcoming the opposite effect of the. the influence of the cylinder counterpressure inside the closure part 52 and the control tank pressure in the chamber 48 existing counterforce.
The rod 51 and piston 55 are moved so that the outlet valve 58 opens, so that the compressed air from the brake cylinder 1 through the lines 33 and 63, the open outlet valve 58, the interior of the piston 55, the channel 56 and the cock 57 flows into the open. The amount per time unit of the compressed air flowing out of the brake cylinder 1 is determined by the calibrated bore of the cock 57, which is advantageously provided with bores of various sizes that correspond to the individual operating conditions.
As soon as the pressure in the brake cylinder 1 by the outflow of the in the same. ent contained compressed air, as described above, has been lowered, the control tank pressure in the chamber 48 outweighs the pressures originating from the brake line above the end part 47 and from the brake cylinder above the end part 52, so that the end part 47 moves upwards , the outlet valve 58 closes and any further outflow of compressed air from the brake cylinder 1 interrupts. This process is repeated with every further pressure increase in the brake line until the normal value of this pressure has been reached. The brake cylinder pressure is finally reduced. to atmospheric pressure so that the brake pads are completely released.
If in the course of restoring the normal or operating pressure in the brake line, the pressure in line 9 is equal to or greater than the auxiliary air reservoir pressure in lines 29 and. ss5, the end part 64 of the accelerator 7 lowers and the valve 6.6 can open. close under the action of spring 67 .
As soon as. the pressure restored in the brake line approaches the normal value, this pressure acts in the chamber 38 and opens with the aid of the spring 77.
If there is a further slight increase in pressure in the brake line, the closing part 16 of the control element 4 lowers in order to close the injection valve 26 and the connection between the chamber 17 and the space 21 through the valve opening 24 and To provide the opening of the passage 19 herzu.
Finally, when the brake line pressure has almost reached its normal or operating value again, -will the regulating or minimum pressure valve 3-4 through the, we effect of the spring 31, 'that the. Cylinder pressure in chamber 32 predominates, opened.
If one so wishes, the valve 34 can be produced in such a way that it opens at a lower brake cylinder pressure than is necessary for closing the same. This can be achieved, for example, by acting with an additional pressure (e.g. the auxiliary air reservoir pressure acting on the head of the valve). This additional pressure can be switched off as soon as the injection valve 25 is closed during the release process, so that the valve 34 opens shortly thereafter.
The filling device 5 indicated in FIGS. 1 and 13 can be replaced by the filling device shown in FIG. 4, in which the compressed air supplied through the line 9 first acts on one side of the non-return valve 78 flows, which is under the pressure of a weak regulating spring 7-9 , and then in part through a back valve 80 with a regulating spring 81 is provided and is such that it closes as soon as the pressure in the auxiliary air tank 2 has reached a certain value.
On the other hand, the compressed air flows away from the non-return valve 78 through the line 82 into a chamber 88 of a filling regulating element 84, which has a sliding closure part 85, the lower side of which is under pressure the control container 3 is, which is connected to the aid of the air tank 2 by a check valve 86.
The closing part 86 actuates a valve 87 which controls the connection between the chamber 83 and the line 88 which leads to the auxiliary air tank 2. A line 89, which is provided with a calibrated bore 90, also leads from the chamber 83 to the conduit 88. If necessary, further calibrated bores 91, 92 and 93 are provided .
The operation of this Füllvorrich device is as follows: If the pressures in the containers 2 and 3 are relatively low and the compressed air intended for filling is supplied through the line 9, it flows relatively unhindered through the valves 78 and 80 to the auxiliary air tank 2 and then through the valve 86 to the control tank 3.
The containers 2 and 3 are thus filled quickly until a predetermined pressure is reached in the auxiliary air container 2, whereupon the valve 80 closes and the further filling </ B> ment with compressed air of the container 2 is continued only through the line 89 with the calibrated bore 90 . As long as the brake line pressure in the line 9 is high in relation to the pressure in the control tank 3 , the valve 87 remains closed by the action of the closing part 85 and the tank 2 is only filled through the calibrated bore 90 .
On the other hand, when the pressure in the control tank 3 is high in relation to the pressure in the brake line, the closing part 85 opens the valve 87, and the tank 2 is relatively quickly through the line 89, </ B> the chamber 83 the open valve 87 and the line 88 are still filled. The calibrated or throttle bores 91, 92 and 98 allow the conditions for filling the containers 2 and 3 to be designed so that different operating conditions can be met To assign a special shut-off valve 35 to the accelerator 7, it is also possible, for example, to use the regulating or minimum pressure valve for this purpose. Such an embodiment variant is described below.
It can be seen from FIGS. 5 and 6 that the accelerator 7 corresponds to the one described above and draws compressed air from the line 9 when the pressure in the brake line drops. This passes through the open valve 66 into the line 94 and through a check valve 96 into the chamber 96 of an organ 97. The latter has a displaceable closure part 98, the lower side of which under the influence of the air pressure in the Chamber 99 , which is connected to the brake cylinder 1 through lines 100 and 33 , and its upper side is under the action of the spring 101 (Fig. 6).
A valve 102, which controls the connection between the chambers 96 and 99, is designed in such a way that it is closed by the spring 103 as soon as the closure part 98 moves a little shifted up.
The closure part 98 closes the valve 104 as soon as it is moved further upwards. The valve 104 controls the connection between the line 29, which is in communication with the container 2, and a line 105 which leads to the inlet valve 59 of the main control element 6. A line 106, which is used to directly connect the line 29 to the main control element 6, contains a calibrated or throttle bore 1.07.
The mode of operation of the variant entered in FIGS. 5 and 6 is as follows: If a first pressure reduction is carried out in the brake line in order to achieve braking, the end part 64 of the accelerator 7 is as already described - Ben, move upwards to open the valve 66, whereby compressed air is tapped from the brake line and through the line 9, the open valve 66, the line 94 and the check valve 95 is passed into the chamber 9, 6 of the organ 97. The compressed air flows from this chamber through valve 1.02, which is normally open, into chamber 99 and then through lines 100 and 33 </ B> to the brake cylinder 1.
As soon as the pressure generated in the brake cylinder 1 has reached a certain, relatively small value, the end part 98 will move a little upwards by compressing the spring 101 so that the valve closes 102 can close under the influence of the spring 103.
The connection between the chambers 96 and 99 is thereby interrupted and thus also the inflow of compressed air from the brake line to the brake cylinder 1.
As soon as the main control element 6 is activated, the pressure decrease in the brake line, which is intended to open the inlet valve 59. As already described, has responded, compressed air is relatively quickly fed from the auxiliary air tank 2 through the line 29, the open valve 104, the line 105, the inlet valve 9 and the line 33 to the brake cylinder 1 .
After the pressure from the brake cylinder 1 in the chamber 99 has increased by a predetermined amount, which depends on the action of the spring IM, the end part 98 is in its highest position moved ver in order to close the valve 104 and thereby -the filling of the brake cylinder I with compressed air, which flows from the line 29 through the organ 97 , to cancel. As soon as the valve 104 is closed, it follows the filling of the brake cylinder 1 with compressed air from the auxiliary air reservoir i2 through the line 10, 6, and due to the presence of the calibrated bore 107, the further filling takes place at a correspondingly slower pace.
It can thus be seen that the regulator 97 regulates the tapping of compressed air from the brake line through the accelerator 7 into the brake cylinder 1 and also acts as a regulating or minimum pressure valve.
A calibrated bore 108 (FIG. 6) can be provided as a permanent reduced connection between the chambers 9, 6 and 99 for the purpose of reducing the filling of the brake cylinder > 1 from the brake line after the valve 102 has closed.
According to FIG. 7, a sliding closure part 109 is provided for controlling the compressed air through the main control element 6, the lower side of which is under the pressure of the brake cylinder in the line 6.3, while the upper side is connected to the atmosphere - Sphere, through the bore 110 is connected. The closing part 109 actuates a valve 111 through which the Drutkluft flows from the auxiliary air container 2 via the line 11 to the inlet valve 9 of the main control element 6.
Normally the valve 111 is open while the main control element is operating; but as soon as the pressure in the brake cylinder has reached a predetermined maximum value, the closing part 109 is pushed upwards in order to close the valve 111, whereby any further filling of the brake cylinder with compressed air through the main control element 6 is interrupted.
The limitation of the maximum pressure of the brake cylinder, for the purpose already explained, can of course be achieved with the aid of a similar valve device which is provided at some other suitable point on the brake.
The pressure that is used to control the shut-off valve 35 to complete the filling of the brake cylinder with compressed air and the shut-off element 8 to limit the maximum pressure can, under certain conditions, be the pressure of the auxiliary air vent. In general, the control pressures of the individual valves can be different from those given for the brake that is only shown and described as an example. For example, the pressure of a storage container can also be used for control purposes.
With the brake described, the three regulating processes, namely the acceleration of the transmission of the pressure reduction in the brake line over the entire length of the train through local taps from the brake line, the rapid injection of compressed air into the brake cylinder to apply the brake pads to the Wheels and the subsequent gradation of the brake pressure carried out by separate organs.
In certain known designs, all these three functions are carried out by a single organ, with the disadvantage that it is difficult to be able to do these functions in the order that they are characteristic of.
The assignment of these functions to separate organs enables the correct order, because the sensitivity of each organ can be set separately, for example so that the local compressed air, tapped from the brake line, enters first and quickly, followed immediately by the rapid injection of compressed air into the Brake cylinder (which is particularly advantageous in view of the greatest possible reduction in the time required to achieve the intended brake pressure in the currently preferred large brake cylinders) and finally the gradation of the brake pressure after the brake pads have been applied .
The regulating or minimum pressure element can be used at any suitable point on the way of the flow of the pressure medium during the injection into the brake cylinder.
In certain cases, the accelerator and the associated shut-off valve can form a single element which is advantageously assembled with the main control element. This device may, for example, comprise a valve that controls the connection between the brake line and the brake cylinder.
This valve can be operated by a movable closing part, which is on one side under the pressure in the brake line and on the opposite side under the auxiliary reservoir pressure. If the pressure in the brake line is reduced to perform a brake application, the valve opens by moving the closing part accordingly and draws compressed air from the brake line until the pressure in the auxiliary air reservoir is released through the main control element into the brake cylinder accordingly has been lowered and the pressures on both sides of the stop are balanced again, whereupon the dispensing valve closes again.
The compressed air drawn off from the brake line can, if desired, partially or completely, instead of into the brake cylinder, optionally through a throttle bore into a chamber.
In addition, the mode of operation of individual of these organs can, if desired, be controlled according to the driving speed or the load on the vehicle.
In all cases, the brake described ensures good operation and controllability with regard to local tapping of compressed air from the brake line, rapid injection of compressed air into the brake cylinder and its further filling with compressed air. The loading and refilling of the various containers is regulated accordingly.
