Description

Translucent body that absorbs ultraviolet rays. The subject matter of the invention is a light-permeable, ultraviolet radiation-absorbing body which is characterized in that it has at least one layer made of a product which contains a transparent substance and at least one ogymethylcumin.

Bodies according to the invention are obtained, for example, if a glass disk or a disk made of another transparent material is coated with cellulose ester varnish or conventional varnish to which at least one ogymethylcoumarin, in particular 4-methylasculetin or 4-methyl umbelliferone,

It was expediently incorporated using an alkaline substance as a solubilizer for the ogymethylcoumarin. Besides the ogymethyl coumarin, other ultraviolet ray absorbers such as quinine salts can also be used.

Products that can be used to produce the translucent, ultraviolet ray absorbing body according to the invention are described in Swiss Patent No. 193348.

According to the invention, a transparent body, for example a glass plate, in particular a window pane, can be coated on one side as well as on both sides with the product which absorbs ultraviolet rays. The inventive body can also be a composite body made of two or more glass plates, in which the. absorbent layer creates the bond between the individual glass plates.

Under certain circumstances, it is useful to protect the ultraviolet rays absorbing coating layer of the lichtdurchläs denominated body by a particularly persistent lacquer coating.
