Description
Das vorliegende Verfahren zur Herstel lung von Hartkörpern für Werkzeuge und Arbeitsgeräte, Ziehsteine, Geschossspitzen, Düsen, Gleitlager, Schneiden für Waagen usw., durch Glühen von Presslingen aus pul verförmigen Ausgangsstoffen, welche minde stens ein Karbid und ein Hilfsmetall enthal ten, ist,dadurch ;
nicht aber um ein Verfahren zum Verdichten von bereits mit Hilfsmetallen ver- sehenen Hartkörpern. Zudem ;
Process for the production of hard bodies for tools and tools, drawing dies, bevel tips, nozzles, slide bearings, cutting edges for scales, etc. For the production of hard bodies (hard metals), which essentially consist of one or more hard carbides with or without hard nitrides and are obtained from finely powdered raw materials by annealing at medium or high temperatures, an auxiliary metal is usually used whose melting point is lower than that of the carbide (s) (nitride)
and that has the task of giving the individual carbide particles the necessary strength and toughness. Instead of one auxiliary metal, several can be used, i.e. an alloy.
The auxiliary metal or metals were previously mixed very intimately with the carbide (or the carbides or nitrides), compacts were then formed from the mixture and these were then annealed at medium or high temperatures for a long time. As a result of this treatment, the molding shrinks considerably and ultimately a firm, hard body is created which, however, is very rarely free of pores. The method according to the present invention now shows a new way to arrive at solid and practically pore-free pieces.
The present method for the manufacture of hard bodies for tools and implements, drawing dies, projectile tips, nozzles, plain bearings, cutting edges for scales, etc., by annealing compacts from powdered starting materials, which contain at least a carbide and an auxiliary metal, is, as a result ;
gekennzeichneett "that you first apply a coating of a metal or a metal compound to the annealed pellets and then let the metal penetrate into the pores of the pellets by means of another annealing at high temperature.
The coating can contain the same auxiliary metal or metals as the compact. One or more carbides can also be added to the coating. The following exemplary embodiments explain the subject matter of the invention in more detail:
1. 3% cobalt (3 @ nickel), powdery and 1% fine vanadium metal powder are mixed with <B> 96% </B> tungsten carbide, whereupon from this mixture, if necessary after moistening with syrup or the like, pressed pieces can be produced with the hydraulic press.
After drying and gradual annealing of these pellets to about 1000 Celsius, a thin coating of cobalt (or nickel) or another metal is applied to them by spraying or immersing these metals in a mud bath. After the compacts have dried, they are annealed in stages up to about <B> 1550 '</B> Celsius. As a result, the coating migrates into the interior of the pellets by diffusion and fills their pores.
The coating to be alloyed can be used for. Examples include molybdenum or chromium or an alloy of cobalt and chromium.
The coating from which the metal is later to be alloyed (by diffusion with high heating) can also contain small amounts of carbide or nitrides. It can also be formed from metal compounds in the form of oxy, which are subsequently reduced during the annealing process in the protective hydrogen gas.
Alloying can also be carried out by placing metal chips or metal foils on the compacts, which soften when subsequently heated and penetrate the mass of the platelet.
Before the coating is applied, mechanical processing of the molding for more precise shaping (formation of a cutting edge or the like) can be interposed.
The process not only allows the production of dense, pore-free bodies, for which it was invented, but also has the advantage that a number of platelets of a uniform composition can initially be produced, which can later be produced by applying coatings of metals or metal compounds of various types - Can give the composition and alloying of the metals properties adapted to the intended use by subsequent annealing.
The next example will make this possibility easier to understand.
2. Tungsten carbide (97%) and cobalt metal to the extent of 3% are intimately mixed as a powder and. pellets made from it. Become the same; then gradually annealed:
One part of the pellets is now coated with chrome metal powder and the other part with a coating made of kebalt metal with vanadium metal: After glowing, two types of hard bodies, each with a different composition.
In this way it is possible to keep a large stock of hard bodies made of a unitary alloy, which can then be used accordingly later. the intended use only through the coating and the baking of the same the final composition he holds.
It has already been proposed to incorporate auxiliary metals into the carbide compact afterwards. But it is about the introduction of the auxiliary metal or metals at all,
but not a process for compressing hard bodies that have already been provided with auxiliary metals. In addition;
If auxiliary metals are segregated into carbide compacts, it is not possible to produce practically pore-free products because the auxiliary metal seldom penetrates into the middle of the molding during segregation. In contrast, according to the present method, the metal mass of the coating migrates very easily into the interior of the molding because the individual carbide grains are already from the auxiliary metal or metals.
