Device for pivoting mobiles in clockwork movements or other mechanisms similar to cogwheels. At all times, we have looked for a way to reduce the risk of breakage or of pivots, and avoid the breakage of stones in which these pivots turn. Until now, however, a sufficiently good system had not yet been found for it to become widespread.
All the systems found so far were based on a flexible shock absorber (res sort).
On the other hand, a problem for which a solution has been sought for a long time is that of oiling. The oil, subjected to the action of air, oxidizes and becomes charged with dust. If it is in too small a quantity, it dries up quickly and if there is a lot of it, it spreads out and thus interferes with the operation of the mobile. It was therefore necessary to find a device which overcomes these drawbacks by protecting the oil against dust and the oxidizing action of the air, and by containing it in a suitable housing, which allows the quantity to be regulated.
A third very important point is that the friction of the pivots of a mobile is reduced to a minimum. In watchmaking, for example, this aim has been pursued by rotating the mobiles between counter-pivot plates.
The object of the present invention is to solve all the above-mentioned problems which arise in practice. It relates to a device for pivoting mobiles in clockwork movements such as watch movements, alarm movements, pendulums, etc. or other mechanisms similar to. cog, for example provided in various instruments.
The pivoting device according to the invention is characterized in that a fixed pivot protrudes in a recess formed in a support, while a cylindrical bearing surface integral with the axis of the mobile is slipped onto said pivot, said axis interlocking, at least indirectly, with a small part in said recess. By virtue of this slight fit of the axis of the mobile in said recess, the main ef fort resulting from a side impact is damped by the support, which means that the pivot itself does not suffer to the point. to be damaged.
Other advantages of the pivoting device will emerge from the following descriptive text: The appended drawing represents, by way of example, six embodiments of the object of the invention, as well as a variant of detail.
Fig. 1 is an axial section of the first embodiment; The fi-. 2 shows a variant of detail, and FIGS. 3 to. 7 are axial sections of the other five embodiments.
t1 la fi--. 1, a is a plate or support flange provided with a bore going beyond and in which is driven a plug b carrying a distinct fixed pivot c projecting into said bore of the plate <I> a. d </I> designates the axis of a moving body not shown (for example a toothed wheel), while e designates a fixing sleeve mounted with heavy friction on the corresponding end of this axis d.
The socket e protrudes to some extent from the front face of the end of the axis d and in this protruding socket part is permanently fixed a stone to. cylindrical bearing or bearing <I> f </I> through which the axis <I> d </I> is threaded onto the pivot c while engaging, via the sleeve e, whose the outer diameter is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the bore provided in the plate a, in said bore.
The fi-. 2 shows an alternative construction, according to which the pivot cl forms a single piece with the plug b1 which, here also. is driven into a bore of the plate al.
According to fig. 3, the bore referred to above only extends to a certain depth in the <B>, </B> plate a = and the pivot à. point c2 is fixed in the plate itself to again protrude into said bore as noted above. As for the cylindrical bearing surface of the axis dl, this is formed here by an axial recess i made axially at the end of the axis and forming a kind of slider.
The axis dl is, here also, threaded by said cylindrical bearing surface on the pivot c2 while engaging (here directly, that is to say without the intermediary of a socket) with a slight beating in the bore made in the plate a \.
According to fig. 4, the plug b "with pivot c ', instead of being driven into a bore of the plate, as is the case in the example shown in Fig. 1, is driven into a support sleeve g mounted in a thinned part (the plate; a '. The axis d <B>' </B> carries at its end, as. <Î the example following fig. 1, a bearing stone f1 mounted on the axis d "by means of a sleeve e1.
The embodiment according to FIG. 5 differs from that shown; in fig. 1 in that the bearing stone f- is permanently fixed in an axial recess h made in the end of the axis dl, instead of being mounted on the latter by means of a fixing sleeve. A ball o housed in a small cavity made at the bottom of the hollow. stop shape cooperating with the pivot cl.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 6 differs from that according to FIG. 3 only by a ball o1 housed at the bottom of the axial recess made in the end. of the axis d <B> '</B>, this ball o1 cooperating with the rounded end of the pivot c' which the plate a 'carries.
According to fig. 7, a hollow shaft por as a wheel -n is mounted between two plates a. This hollow shaft from door to door. its two ends a stone-cushion f; which is threaded on a corresponding fixed pivot c 'carried by a plug b' as in other embodiments described above. r is a ball serving as a stop for one and the other pivot c 'of this device.
The various pivoting devices described above constitute a reversal of the pivoting anode employed hitherto in that the pivot is held in a fixed part, while the bearing rotates, fixed to the axis of the mobile.
Their main advantages are as follows: They make it possible to prevent the breakage of pins and bearings made of stone or other material, the pivots at the bottom of a bore being protected against any risk of catching at the time. where the mobile is not in place, the height shocks occurring axially between the points, while the side shocks are limited by the minimal clearance left between the bearing holder and the walls of the bore in which the latter turned.
20 The bearing (especially stones in watchmaking) is totally immune to shocks in height and friction of the doors in height.
30 The oil intended to lubricate the mobile is practically completely protected from dust and the oxidizing action of the air as well as from drying out, by virtue of the fact that it is enclosed between the axle and the pivot , the pad holder and the pad. In watches, for example, the quality of the hand setting will hold much longer.
40 Depending on the space left between the axle of the mobile and the bearing, the desired quantity can be adjusted without running the risk of it spreading.
50 By virtue of this arrangement, the friction between the pivot and the axis of the mobile takes place in an oil bath.
60 Given its position, the pivot which centers the axis of the mobile also acts as an axial stop and thus makes it possible to adjust the height of the mobile as desired.
70 These devices only have rigid parts, thus avoiding all the drawbacks of flexible parts (springs).
80 Thanks to their particular shape, stones and pivots will be easier to manufacture and standardize. Polishing of the faces of the stones can be eliminated, given that they are no longer in sight and that they do not receive any friction on the faces.
90 By giving the pivot holder the shape of a screw, we have the advantage of being able to very easily adjust the height of the mobile.
100 The assembly and disassembly of the parts provided with one of the pivoting devices described will take place without risk of the pivots breaking, since the recess in the plate guides the end of the mobile during its installation.
