Device for fine-tuning and on-going the amplitude of the advancement movement of a cardboard strip in a shaping machine. The object of the invention is a device for finely and smoothly correcting the amplitude of the forward movement of a cardboard strip in a shaping machine in which said movement is controlled by a toothed sector oscillating at an angle. adjustable bone.
The fine and running correction of the amplitude of the forward movement of this strip of cardboard is obtained in the device according to the invention, by means which allow the axis of oscillation of the toothed sector to be moved.
The drawing represents two embodiments of the device forming the subject of the invention, given by way of examples.
Fig. 1 relates to the first embodiment, which it represents semi-schematically.
Fig. 2 shows part of the second embodiment.
In fig. 1, the outline in broken lines denoted by 1 represents a press for shaping cardboard fed in the form of a strip 2 in the direction of arrow 3, under the impulse communicated to it by two cylinders 4 and 5, between which said band pass. On leaving the press 1, the cardboard strip can be cut by a knife 6, either immediately or after having undergone a certain number of operations under the action of tools, which Crazy could place between the press 1 and the knife 6. The cylinders 4 and 5 advance the web 2 intermittently and, during down times, the knife 6 comes into operation.
This intermittent advancement is obtained by a mechanism consisting of a crank 7 rotating uniformly in the direction of the arrow 8 on an axis 9 and moving a sliding member 10 in the smooth neck 11: of an arm of integral lever .d'un toothed sec tor 12 which, therefore, performs an oscillating movement.
This oscillating movement communicates a back and forth rotary movement to a toothed pinion 13, driving the cylinder 5 by means of a freewheel device 14 acting in such a direction that the cylinder 5 is not. driven only when the direction of rotation of the pinion 13 corresponds to the transport of the belt 2 in the direction of the arrow 3.
By moving the crank 7 by means of a threaded rod 15, so as to bring it closer to or away from the axis 9, it is possible to modify the amplitude of the bone movement communicated to the sector 12 and thus to determine the quantity by which the strip 2 is displaced at each oscillation. It is thus possible to shape pieces of cardboard of given length corresponding to the work to be performed.
The cylinder 5 as well as the cylinder 4 having a certain mass, their inertia means that at the end of oscillation it is necessary to brake them if we want them to stop practically ment instantly and do not continue, under the action of the momentum received, to deliver the tone beyond the measure that we have set. For this reason, these two cylinders are braked by means schematically shown by sectors 16, levers 17 and a spring 18.
In general, a mechanism is provided which has the effect of releasing the braking means during the period of advancement of the cardboard strip and of tightening them as soon as the sector 12, arriving at the end of its travel, reverses its movement.
The mechanism described heretofore is known and works on a variety of paperboard tape machines. It has in particular the following drawback, which the device according to the invention aims to eliminate: The amplitude of the advancement movement communicated intermittently to the strip 2 does not remain invariable during a work of one. certain duration because, as a result either of the heating of the bearings of the cylinders 4 and 5 and of the ease of the machine in general, or of an irregularity in the nature of the material to be worked, or of a heating of the braking members of cylinders 4 and 5, there are slight variations in the advance.
The machine must then be stopped to move the shaping members or even to rectify the position of my level 7 in the direction of the desired correction.
A variation in the amplitude of the forward movement is also observed as a function of the speed of the machine, which is clearly explained by the inertia of the mechanical parts in movement, in particular of the cylinders 4 and 5, that the braking devices can only stop so abruptly if they are launched at high speed if they are turning slowly. Therefore, when the machine is brought into focus by rotating it slowly, it is observed that once the normal running speed is restored, the machine is out of adjustment.
The resulting maladjustment can be quite important and it is common for pieces of cardboard cut to 300 mm in length, 301 mm is obtained when passing from the slow control rate to the fast working rate. This small error of one millimeter is multiplied by the number of parts being worked between the press 1 and the knife 6, we see that this error constitutes a rather important drawback, in particular if the knife 6 is at a certain point. distance from the press,
various tools being inserted between these two organs.
Oven remedy the above drawbacks, the sector 12 rotates around a pi vot 19 supported by an axis 20 which is eccentric to him. By turning the pivot 19 around said axis 20, it is thus possible to move the axis of oscillation of the toothed sector.
However, by this displacement, the distance of said axis of oscillation from axis 9 and, consequently, the amplitude of the oscillation transmitted by the crank 7 to the sector 12, is modified. The displacement which the eccentric pivot 19 enables communicating with the axis of oscillation of the toothed sector being able to be very small with regard to the displacement communicated to said pivot, it is thus possible to obtain an extremely fine adjustment.
It is obvious that, as a result of the adjustment, the en W 01 event of sector 12 and of pi, -not 13 will be slightly modified, but nevertheless:
in, an extent which is not likely to interfere with the proper functioning of the machine. For the correction to be effective, the axis of oscillation of the toothed sector must move, in particular in a direction as close as possible to that of a line joining the center of oscillation of the sector to the center of the 'axis 9, and so that the modification of the meshing of the sector 12 and the pinion 13 is as small as possible, it is necessary to move the sector as little as possible in the direction of a line joining the bone center oscillation of said sector to the axis of said pinion.
In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the position adopted, and which practically renders the best services, is such that the pivot 19 can be moved on either side of a median position in which the axis of rotation of the toothed sector, that of the pinion toothed with which it meshes and the eccentric axis around which the pivot can rotate, are aligned in a common plane.
The movement of the pivot 19 can be carried out manually, by means of a lever 21 of which it is integral, of a linkage 22 and of a control wheel 23 acting on a threaded part 24 of this linkage. The reduction obtained by this arrangement allows an even finer adjustment to be made. The flywheel 23 being im mobilized axially by stops 25, it is clearly seen how the rotation of the latter will communicate to the linkage 22 a movement of axial displacement, causing the lever 21 to rotate at the same time as the pivot 19 of the tines to be caused. the displacement of the bone axis of the toothed sector.
In the embodiment shown, this simple arrangement has been completed by a lever 26 capable of oscillating about an axis 27 and of moving the stops 25 by the action of an eccentric 28, said stops being carried by a support sliding in guides 29 in a direction parallel to the rod 22. It can be seen that by passing the lever 26 from the position in solid lines to the position 26 'in phantom lines, one causes a displacement of the stops 25, flywheel 23, linkage 22, lever 21, pivot 19 and, therefore, the axis of oscillation of the toothed sector.
The amplitude of this displacement can be very precisely regulated by modifying the position of the stop screw 30.
The usefulness of this improvement of the positive device described consists in the fact that it is possible to establish everything so that one of the positions of the lever 26 being adopted for the adjustment of the flow rate of the cardboard strip in motion. slow, it suffices to change to the other position for the machine to maintain this setting in fast mode. The flywheel 23 then only serves to carry out corrections outside of these two positions, which rectifications may be required by causes independent of the simple change that has taken place in the operating speed of the machine.
It is obviously possible to control the movement of the pivot 19 in any way other than that which has been shown. In particular, it is possible to provide a linkage or even an electric control allowing to act at a great distance, that is to say from any point of the machine, for example from a printing unit which could follow the knife 6, itself already far from the press 1.
It is also obvious that the modification of the setting corresponding to slow walking and fast walking, that is to say the action obtained here by the tilting of the lever 26, could be triggered automatically under the influence of a friction of a member of the machine with which the device cooperates, for example, so as to act as a function of the running speed of said machine. In this case, the position of a clutch lever could be used,
a centrifugal governor, a time relay, the electrical circuit of the motor operating the machine, etc.
Ira fig. 2 partially shows a second embodiment of the device. This figure shows the sector 12, its pivot 19 rotating on the eccentric axis 20 as a result:
changes in position that a linkage 22 can communicate to the lever 21. But here this lever is in two parts 21 and 31. One end of the part 21 being integral with the pivot 19, the other end is articulated at 32 to the one of the ends of the part 31, the free end of which is attacked at 33 by the linkage 22.
An extension 34 of this part 31 can oscillate between two adjustable stops 35, 36 mounted on part 21. It is obvious that even if, while keeping the linkage 22 stationary, the position of the part 31 of the lever is changed in the limits permitted by the pans 35, 36, part 21 of this lever is made to oscillate and, as a result, the position of the pivot 19 is changed and, consequently, the axis of oscillation of the toothed sector is moved between given limits. This arrangement can replace, for example, the lever 26 of the previous embodiment and be used to instantly switch from said adjustment in slow operation to adjustment in fast operation.
In the device shown, this operation is carried out electrically by means of an electromagnet 37 connected to part 21 of the lever and acting, via a rod 38 and against the action of a spring 39, on an arm 40 of the. part 31 of the lever.
The excitation of said electromagnet can take place as indicated above under the influence of a function of an organ of the machine with which the device cooperates.
