Description

Schneepneu.

Snow tire. The present invention relates to a snow tire. For driving on snow, either snow chains or snow tires with special profiles, namely with strong elevations and depressions on the tread, have been proposed. It has been shown, however, that the snow chains or the aforementioned coarsely profiled tires dig themselves into the snow in a milling-like manner and could not always meet the requirements placed on them.

The principle of all the snow tires proposed so far is fundamentally wrong. One always tried to profile snow tires as roughly as possible and had the opinion that these rough profiles pressed into the snow and therefore did not slide. These coarse) profiles are indented in soft snow; but there is no soft snow on the road. The snow is usually harder on the road, so that these profiles are no longer indented, so they are no longer attacked. But if these profiles turn on the snow, they immediately dig a deep hole and the car can neither go forward nor backward.

If these rough profiles have to be driven on snow-free roads, they cause an unpleasant noise and are actually practically not usable for snow-free roads.

The invention is based on the knowledge that a tire provided with grooves that do not run parallel to the plane of the wheel on which the tire is applied provides excellent adhesion on the compressed, approximately smooth snow cover, which enables safe starting, driving and cornering and braking permitted.

According to the invention, the snow tire has groove-like grooves that do not run parallel to the imaginary wheel plane, the width of the grooves being 2-6 mm, their spacing from one another being 5-12 mm and their depth being 2-15 mm.

In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown, namely: FIG. 1 shows a section of the grooved snow tire in the diagram and FIG. 2 shows a section of the snow tire in a section transverse to the grooves.

The illustrated snow tire 1 points transversely to the circumferential direction, d. H. Grooves 2 running transversely to the roof test wheel plane, between which ribs 3 are located. The width of the grooves 2 is 2-6 min, the distance between the grooves and each other. the width of the ribs 5-12 mm, and the depth of the grooves 2-15 mm. In practice, a groove depth of around 2 mm is sufficient. In consideration of the wear and tear of the tire, a greater depth is selected, especially with new tires.

The dimensions of the grooves and ribs, which have proven themselves in practical tests, are: width of the grooves 4I / 2 min, depth of the grooves 5 mm and width of the ribs 61/2 min. The grooves can extend over the entire width of the tire in one go or be composed of pieces separated from one another by intermediate ribs. The grooves can be directed perpendicular to the wheel plane, but could also have an arc shape or run like the grooves between the teeth of a herringbone gear.

The good effect of the tire when driving on snow is based on the fact that the latter is compressed, whereby the ribs are only pressed so far into the snow layer that they work together with this snow in the manner of a toothed wheel with a rack. The grooves can be provided during the manufacture of the tire or only subsequently cut or milled.

The snow tire described has narrow grooves and small contact areas, but many see that. These small contact surfaces are always pressed a little into the snow, and they only cry a little; every single Guintni rib results in a small moment of attack, and since there are very many ribs, the result is a sufficient attack effect.

When this snow tire begins to slide with the Rehma len ribs, it does not dig itself. Rather, it creates a hurried, smooth surface on which it does not sink, but can continue to move with the car if it starts slowly.
