Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

    gleiterscheinungen für Gasschalter dadurch nutzbar zu machen, dass als Aufbaustoff für das Löschrohr wasserhaltige oder wasserfreie Oxalsäure verwendet wird. Unter der Einwirkung des Abschaltlichtbogens zerfällt die Oxalsäure in Kohlensäure und Wasser.

 Switching chamber for electric circuit breakers, in particular gas switches. The switching capacity of electric gas switches, in which, as is well known, the pressurized gas required for extinguishing the arc is released from solid substances that form the walls of the extinguishing tube, depends primarily on the speed with which considerable amounts of extinguishing gas are also released under the influence of the arc smaller cut-off currents arise, and also from the type of extinguishing gas formed.

  In the latter respect, it is known that carbonic acid has many advantages as an extinguishing agent for extinguishing arcs in electrical switches. In practice, however, it has not been able to gain acceptance because the provision of carbonic acid complicates the switchgear and makes operation more expensive.

  With regard to the speed with which a considerable amount of extinguishing gas develops under the influence of the switch-off arc, Fiber has proven itself well. However, due to the strong hygroscopicity of the fiber, extinguishing pipes made from them have the disadvantage of a lack of dimensional stability. It is also known to manufacture extinguishing pipes from solid materials such as boric acid, in which water is chemically bound. When the system is switched off, the water is then released and evaporates into extinguishing gas.

   However, there is no residue-free evaporation, so that the properties of the surface hit by the arc are not renewed. Finally, it has also already been proposed to manufacture the extinguishing pipes from fibrous materials impregnated with urea synthetic resins. In extinguishing pipes of this type, which mainly use nitrogen as the extinguishing gas, the fibrous materials used as the structural substance must be selected in such a way that they themselves also easily disintegrate under the action of the arc without leaving harmful residues. This results in a certain increase in the price of the extinguishing pipes.

  Attempts have also been made to take advantage of the use of carbon dioxide as an extinguishing agent and a very rapid evolution of gas due to the switch-off arc without disadvantageous consequences.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

    To make sliding phenomena usable for gas switches by using water-containing or water-free oxalic acid as a building material for the extinguishing pipe. Under the influence of the switch-off arc, the oxalic acid breaks down into carbonic acid and water.

   Furthermore, it has already been proposed to use oxamide as the gas-emitting substance instead of pure oxalic acid. Oxamide has the property desired for the present application, namely that it is even less water-absorbing than oxalic acid. When using Oxamid as a building material for extinguishing pipes z. B. In addition to carbon dioxide, nitrogen is also developed as an extinguishing gas.

   This substance, which is deformed and pressed alone or with additives with the help of a binding agent to the sliding chamber parts, which are usually in the form of tubes and pins, has proven to be very suitable for generating extinguishing gas in gas switches.

  According to the invention, a significant improvement in the extinguishing gas ratios compared to gas switches with gas-emitting switching chamber walls made of oxamide is achieved by using derivatives of the oxamide as the building material for the switching chamber parts. In particular, those oxamide derivatives come into consideration for this purpose in which hydrogen atoms in the oxamide-IIolelkül are replaced by other groups, preferably alkyl radicals such as, for. B. Ethyl respectively. Diethyl groups are replaced.

   Such substances are, for example, diethyloxamide or Äthylenoxa.mid. Here, ring-shaped derivatives of the oxamide prove to be particularly favorable due to the lower stability of the carbon-nitrogen ring.

   An explanation for the improvement in the switching frequency of the switching chamber parts made from these substances (extinguishing tubes and fillers) can be seen in the fact that the above-mentioned enlargement of the molecules favors an easier and more extensive disintegration of the resulting molecules in the heat of the arc. The deformation of the derivatives of the oxamide used according to the invention to give the shell chamber parts can take place in any manner familiar to the person skilled in the art. It is particularly useful to use binders, for which z.

   B. polyacrylic acid derivatives and compounds and also Alky ldal- bezw. Urea resins come into consideration as suitable.

  The invention is of course not limited to electrical gas switches, but can also be used with equal success to extinguish arcs in other electrical circuit breakers, such as. B. in electrical high-voltage fuses, application.
