Description
So versagen z.

Method of dressing seeds. It is known that many of the mono-mercured organic compounds are suitable for pickling grain against fungal diseases. Dimer-cured compounds, however, are generally not suitable for these purposes. So fail z. B. dimer-curated phenols, dimer curibenzene, the product containing 2 mercury atoms from dipentene and mercury acetate and others, while the corresponding mono-mercurated compounds are valuable des infectious agents.
It was therefore surprising that, as it was found, dimer curicarbides with the general formula: R-Hg-C-C-Hg --R can be used excellently for the dressing of seeds.
The present invention accordingly relates to a process for dressing seeds, which is characterized by the use of at least one dimer curic carbide of the general formula: R-Hg-CC-Hg-R wherein R is organic radicals, and optionally at least one diluent medium.
In the general formula given above, R can be an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or an alicyclic radical. These radicals can also be substituted, e.g. B. by OH groups or the like. Particularly suitable are compounds of the formula given above in which R is the
EMI0001.0021
corresponds. In this group, R "is either hydrogen or similar or different hydrocarbon radicals, e.g.
B. alkyl, aryl or alicyclic radicals, the alkyl radicals can also be arranged so that they form a nucleus and all hydrocarbon radicals can also be substituted, and R 'is either hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical, such as aryl -, aralkyl or an alicyclic radical, the radicals in question being substituted or unsubstituted.
Since these carbide compounds are surprisingly very stable in) Vasser, which could not be expected at all. because many metal carbides, such as. B. calcium carbide and the like, decompose immediately with water, the seed dressings thus emptied are also resistant in water. Thus show the products to be used according to the invention, e.g.
B. those which contain bis-phenyl nitride carbide and bis-metlioxy-ethyl methyl carbide do not decompose despite being kept under water for several days.
They do not attack metallic iron and do not cause the inflammation peculiar to the many mercury compounds on the skin.
The compounds used as mordants can be obtained in a very simple manner by adding acetylene to solutions full of mercury compounds of the formula
EMI0002.0031
R <SEP> -H - 1, in which R corresponds to the definition given above, while X represents any i @ ruple which is capable of forming salts or complex salts with mercury, such as vinegar, milk, oxal -, sulfur,
C'hlor - <tsserstoff-, Thioc3-an sfurere @ te and the like, can act. The new connections are divided into, Weih lnall'z. B. works in alcoholic solution and can be isolated very easily.
The following examples illustrate the invention without, however, wishing to restrict the same thereto.
Suitable diluents for the seed dressings to be used according to the invention include finely divided clay, chalk, talc, kaolin, kieselguhr, silica gel and the like.
The products can contain: other fungicidal substances, stimulants, compounds that increase the adhesive strength, agents that prevent dusting and the like.

The products were applied in a concentration of 1.5 parts of the seed dressing to 1000 parts of the seed to be treated.
The numbers indicate the number of seeds that were attacked by Fusarium, 100 grains being used for each experiment.
