Description

EL = L

  Device for displaying vibrations.

It is known to indicate vibrations by changing at least one electrical contact point as a result of the acceleration occurring during the vibration to be displayed. The shock-sensitive contact is connected to a circuit in which a relay or transformer is inserted. If a shock occurs, the shock-sensitive contact is changed.

This changes the current flowing through the relay or transformer.

The resulting change in the electromagnetic field then serves to indicate the shock.

Fig. 1 shows such a known arrangement, and Figs. 2 and 3 show ver improved arrangements according to the present invention.

In FIG. 1, K denotes the shock-sensitive contact which is switched into the circuit of the battery 60. The steady-state quiescent current i is determined by the resistor R if R represents all the resistances in the circuit.

If the contact K is interrupted, the current i is suddenly changed. As a result of the self-induction L, e.g. B. a relay or transformer coil, therefore the voltage is di
UL = L di dt induced in the self-induction Z. As a result of this voltage change, the contact point K can be overturned by an electrical discharge. Part of the energy i2 lying in the field of self-induction
EL = L
2 can be converted into heat in the discharge of the contact point. The energy EL causes strong sparks that can destroy the contact points or weld them together.

The induced voltage t6L can cause a gas discharge between the contacts, so that the circuit is not interrupted in spite of the lifting of the contacts K.

When the contact closes, K becomes the field of the line capacitance. C lying energy
E0 = C u2 / 2 discharged through the contact point. It is often not possible to form the contact li so that it is normally open and is closed by the vibrations.

The exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention shown in FIG. 2 largely avoids the above disadvantages in that the stationary current iL flowing through the self-induction coil L and caused by the battery voltage 60 does not flow via the contact li.

This is achieved in that the self-induction coil L is connected in parallel to the contact. When contact K is opened, only the ohmic current i is interrupted and the current iL through L increases with time t up to the value:
UO +
Due to this change in the electromagnetic field in the coil L, either a relay. iaa. nker are attracted or a voltage surge is generated in a second self-induction coil, which then triggers any display devices.

Since the contact If no longer has to interrupt a circuit with high self-inductance, a vacuum contact can advantageously be used for K, which switches even when the contact parts are lifted the smallest. Since there is no opening spark, the contacts are less worn. You can therefore much more easily and. be smaller. Which is especially true for switches that operate in a gas with low pressure, that is z. B. a pressure that is less than 10-6 mm Hg column. work is important.

By using a vacuum switch, it is possible to interrupt a circuit even with the smallest amplitudes of the vibrations. Since such vibrations are mostly of high frequency, the relay used for the display must switch as quickly as possible. I) azu is a gas discharge relay, z. B. a glow lamp, a controlled glow lamp or a gas-filled incandescent cathode tube, very suitable. However, these apparatuses cannot easily a. In the opened contact point, the voltage at the contact points should be as low as possible in order to avoid overshooting and to keep the electrostatic attraction forces as small as possible.

The known, obvious circuit according to FIG. 1 would indeed enable the mentioned triggering if L is the one coil of a transformer, but has the disadvantages mentioned above. With the circuit according to FIG. 2, the triggering is also possible if L is one winding or part of a winding of a transformer; in doing so, however, the disadvantages mentioned above can be avoided.

In practice, it is often necessary to connect contact K @ over long cables. which have a considerable capacity C to be connected. This capacitance C is charged when the contact Ii is open and its electrical field energy damages the contact when it closes, since the current can assume very high values for a short time. In a circuit according to FIG. 3, this is avoided by the resistor d R2 which limits the current to the value i = u0.

   R2
This resistor R2 can be used for line control, because if the supply lines to the right of R2 short-circuit, the voltage across R and L collapses completely and the current through R1 is increased. what can be displayed by a device.

With the appropriate choice it is possible to achieve better functioning of a relay activated by self-induction L. R2 is made so large that the quiescent current through L is almost sufficient to attract the relay armature. A small and brief increase in the voltage uL is then sufficient for the relay to switch because its armature can be almost balanced by the buoyancy current.

So that the relay armature remains attracted, even after the contact E is closed again, the switch S can be actuated by the relay, which interrupts the circuit of the contact K. S can at the same time de-energize the capacitance C, so that when K is closed again, there is no longer any charge and thus no electrical contact load occurs.
