Description
Manufacturing process for artificial plaques. The object of the present invention is a method of manufacturing artificial plates which can be used, for example, as lining plates. According to this process, at least two colored cement pastes are prepared, these two pastes being of different colors, these pastes are reduced into granules, the granules of different colors are mixed, a layer of the mixture of colored granules is placed in a mold. , it is subjected to pressure, the compressed layer is demolded and allowed to harden. The surface of the plate formed by the mixture of colored granules thus presents the appearance of porphyry.
The subject of the invention is also an artificial plate obtained by the aforementioned method.
According to one embodiment of this process, given only by way of example, pure cement is taken which has been passed through a very fine sieve and it is mixed with powder of mineral colors. Two mixtures of colored cement are thus prepared in two different colors, and these two mixtures are moistened with water to form two fairly consistent pastes. Each of the two doughs of different colors is then passed through a sieve or a grid to reduce the dough into granules of different sizes. The granules obtained naked from the two differently colored pastes are then mixed.
The plaque formation is now carried out in the usual manner. In a mold having a smooth base plate, a first layer formed by the mixtures of the two kinds of granules is placed. On this layer of granules, a second layer is placed consisting of a mixture of cement and sand suitably moistened. The two layers are then subjected to a strong pressure and then the block or the plate thus formed is allowed to dry, after which it is removed from the mold and allowed to harden. The surface of the plate on the side of the layer of granules can then be polished and optionally waxed to make it shiny.
As a result of the granules of different colors and sizes, this surface then has the appearance of polished natural por phyre and the plates thus prepared can be used as coating plates.
It is also possible to place in the molds a single layer composed of the mixture of granules in different colors and prepare plates by subjecting this single layer of granules to pressure. The plates thus obtained can then be polished on one or both sides.
Instead of a single layer of cement and sand, placed on the layer of granules in the mold, one could deposit on this first layer two or more layers comprising a mixture of cement and sand of different sizes, or granules of Pierre.
The varieties of porphyry being extremely numerous, it is possible to obtain artificial plates having the appearance of porphyry by preparing, instead of two cement pastes in two different colors, several pastes of different colors.
