Description

         

  Procédé pour l'obtention de cadrans à tour d'heures et signes en relief et biseautés.         Les    premiers cadrans à tour d'heures en  relief avaient des chiffres rapportés sur le  fond au moyen de pieds. Cette manière de  faire permettait .de     donner    au profil du  chiffre     toute    forme et aspect de     surface    dé  sirable et de traiter le fond du cadran     d'une     manière ou d'une autre, afin de lui donner  l'aspect mat ou brillant, coloré ou non désiré  par le     futur    propriétaire de la montre.  



  Cette manière de faire aboutissait à des  cadrans     luxueux,    mais -d'un prix excessive  ment élevé. On     s'avisa    alors de sortir les  chiffres et signes du tour d'heures de la ma  tiAre même du fond du cadran au moyen de  la frappe. On obtient alors des chiffres en  relief à bords     perpendiculaires,    ou à peu de  chose près, au fond du cadran. Ceci fait, on  traitait le fond du     cadran    sans s'occuper des  chiffres, puis     ce    fond terminé, on polissait  la surface des chiffres après avoir préservé  le fond.  



  Il est clair que selon ce procédé, il n'y  avait que le chiffre à bords droits de possible  et que même ce bord droit ne pouvait pas    être trop haut, car un traitement mécanique  spécial ne pouvait leur être appliqué sans  gâter le fond du cadran. Ne dépassant par  contre pas     ce    fond de     grand'chose,    on pouvait  le laisser les pans bruts sans diminuer l'es  thétique du tout.  



  Il ne fut jamais question, pour des rai  sons indiquées plus haut, de frapper des  tours d'heures à signes biseautés ou eu pointe  de diamant, car il était     impossible    de donner  à leurs faces formant toutes un angle avec le  plan du fond -du cadran, le poli nécessaire à  l'effet dont on poursuit     l'obtention    par l'em  ploi de signes ayant une arête en leur milieu.  Le cadran avec tour d'heures en relief formé  de chiffres biseautés fut donc jusqu'ici fait  exclusivement avec des signes rapportés et  était exclusivement     l'apanage,des    montres de  luxe.  



  L'objet de l'invention est un procédé pour  l'obtention de cadrans à tour d'heures et si  gnes en relief et biseautés, procédé permet  tant le traitement nécessaire à la     mise    en  valeur des pans des signes     faisant    angle avec      le fond du cadran.     Ce    procédé est caractérisé  en ce que l'on forme le tour d'heures par  frappe du fond, qu'on polit ce tour d'heures,  puis recouvre ce tour d'heures d'un vernis  protecteur qu'on laisse pendant le     traitement     de la surface du fond du     cadran.    On choisira  de préférence un verni protecteur s'enlevant  sans     difficulté    le cadran une fois terminé ou  bien     id;

  isparaissant    à la dernière opération  chimique que l'on fait subir au cadran.  



  Le -dessin annexé donne, à     titre    d'exem  ple,     -diverses    phases du procédé objet de l'in  vention.  



  La     fig.    1 montre une coupe     diamétrale     du cadran par le     milieu    -de deux signes     @du          tour    d'heures.     Les        fig.    2, 3 et 4 sont des  coupes transversales d'un même signe à ;dif  férentes phases -de son     exécution.     



  Au moyen d'un     outil    de frappe ayant  un tour d'heures en     creux,    on écrase une       feuille    de métal de laquelle sortent les chif  fres ou     signes    a du tour d'heure; le fond est  désigné par b. Ces chiffres ou signes frappés,  on peut les polir au moyen de meules c en  feutre, en étoffe ou autres moyens de polis  sage avec desquels on     attaque    les pans des  signes l'un après l'autre -ou les deux en même       temps    en attaquant alors le signe dans le  sens de la longueur     @de    l'arête. Il est naturel    que ce travail ne peut se faire sans toucher  le fond.

   Celui-ci étant     cependant    encore brut,  on ne gâte rien.  



  Les chiffres polis, on     files    recouvre d'un  verni     protecteur,    par exemple de la     gomme-          laque    diluée dans de l'alcool ou     une    solution  de cellulose opaque ou transparente.
