Description

Fuel injector for internal combustion engines. Since the caloric efficiency of an internal combustion engine is partly dependent on the intensive mixing of the fuel with the combustion air and good mixing can be promoted with a high injection pressure, in order to achieve this goal one has to use the carburetor, which is only works with a fraction of an atmosphere, replaced by a pump. To achieve high pressures, piston pumps have been used.

However, this means that when low-viscosity fuels such as gasoline are used, pressures that are not as high as would be desirable because piston pumps cannot be sufficiently sealed, so that the losses may be greater than those for internal combustion engines, both of which are a meme - Profit from the injection process.

With the present invention, it is possible, please include to meet these inconveniences. It relates to a fuel injection device bran is present, through the movement of which the fuel is injected, oil pressure generated by a pump being used to move this membrane.

An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in vertical section in the accompanying drawing.

In a housing 1 filled with oil, a piston pump is arranged, which is actuated by a camshaft 2. DeT pump piston 3 pushes oil, which enters cylinder 5 through channel 4, into chamber 6,

which is closed off from space 8 by a membrane 7. At its outer end, the pump piston is provided with a plate 9 which, on the one hand, serves as an abutment for a helical spring 1.0, which acts on the piston in such a way that it is pulled out of the cylinder 5.

On the other hand, the plate 9 serves as a support for a press roller 12 seated on one arm of a two-armed lever 11, the other arm of this lever also having a roller 18 which interacts with the camshaft 2.

The membrane 7 is pressed between the housing 1 and a flange 14 on the pump cylinder 5 Ge.

In order to avoid the formation of an oil emulsion (under which air .in the form of finely divided bubbles containing oil is to be understood) in the chamber 6, which would prevent a correct transfer of the oil pressure generated by the pump due to its elasticity, is located Connection of the pump cylinder to the chamber 6 at the other highest point, so that ventilation can take place from there through channel 4.

From space 8 a line 15 leads upwards into a connection channel 16 between inlet valve 17 and outlet valve 18. Inlet valve 17 is located at the highest point of connection channel 16 so that when the inlet valve opens, fuel chamber 8, 15 is also vented , 16 can take place.

The operating process is as follows: When the pump piston 3 is in the outer dead center, that is, when the Fe 10 eats relaxed, the chamber 6 is practically unpressurized. In this position, oil can enter the cylinder 5 from the housing space through the channel 4, so that a full filling is always guaranteed for the same and the chamber 6. In the water position of the pump piston, the space 8 on the other side of the membrane is not under pressure and fuel can flow in through the inlet valve 17.

After this dead center position is exceeded, the piston 3 presses the oil trapped after the channel 4 has been closed against the mem brane and by bending it out into the space 8, pressure is exerted on the fuel, which pressure rises until it is able to open the outlet valve. By suitable selection of the shape of the cam which initiates the pump piston movement, a short or long pressure time and thus the injection time of the fuel into the engine can be obtained.

Since the pressure is transferred to the fuel through a membrane, there are no leaks in a fuel piston pump. This makes it possible, even when using a very light-bodied fuel, such as gasoline, to generate high injection pressures that correspond to the practical requirements.

The pressure curve on both sides of the mem brane 7 is synchronous so that it is possible to always keep the stress on the membrane below the permissible limit.

By adjusting the cam disk or the movement of the same transmitted by the lever 11 or by other suitable means, the piston stroke and thus the amount of fuel injected could be changed.
