Description

Ignition rod for lighting fire in gas generators. Or the like. And process for its production. The present invention relates to an ignition rod for plugging the fire in gas generators or the like. According to the invention, a suitable ignition rod for this purpose consists of a rod-shaped carrier made of combustible material such as wood or other fibrous materials, which is over a substantial part of its length with is covered with a flammable mass
which, in addition to an oxygen donor and a water-soluble binder, also contains a metal powder that burns at high temperature and possibly also additives such as sulfur, one end of the rod being provided with an ignitable ignition head on a friction surface. Such an ignition rod burns with intense heat generation and is therefore particularly suitable for infecting substances with a high inflammation temperature, e.g. B. coal or other fuels in gas generators.
During the preparation of the pulp it was found that the metal powder tends to react with the water, whereby hydrogen is formed, which in statu nascendi has a great tendency to combine with other components of the pulp, for example with sulfur to form hydrogen sulfide .
Apart from other disadvantages, this development of gas has an extremely unfavorable influence both on the consistency of the pulp and on the combustion properties of the dried fuel. The evolution of gas can be reduced or prevented by adding a small amount of a substance with an acid reaction, for example phosphoric acid or an acid salt, to the dunk mass.
With the normal composition of the water used and the other constituents, the practically complete prevention of hydrogen development has proven to be possible with the compositions of the dunking compound below:

<tb> Monomagnesium phosphate <SEP> 0.4 The specified amounts of acidic substances in the examples correspond to a minimum value for hydrogen evolution, which increases either when the amount of acidic substances is increased or decreased.
Depending on the composition of the mixture, especially depending on the type of water used, the required amount of acidic substances changes.
The sulfur has the effect of making the combustion more uniform. Since the fuel of the finished matches becomes insensitive to friction and does not ignite due to friction, a perchlorate should preferably be used instead of a chlorate, which also makes the combustion more intensive due to the larger excess of oxygen. For ignition, a special ignition head is attached to one end of the ignition rod, preferably after dipping and after partial drying.
The fuel is placed on a rod-shaped support made of wood or another combustible one. Substances applied, but by simply dipping the carrier into the prepared Dunkstoff they cannot be made to adhere to the carrier. However, good adhesion takes place if the carrier is moved up and down in the dye mass a few times.
