Description

Device on rear-engined vehicles for supplying air to the engine compartment. In motor vehicles: with a rear-engined engine, it is difficult to supply the engine compartment with a sufficient amount of fresh cooling air. So far, the cooling air has mostly been taken from the air flowing on the vehicle walls when driving, either on the roof or on the sides above the rear wheels, where openings and channels are net angeord that lead the air into the interior of the vehicle.

If: the cooling air is supplied through openings from above, this has the disadvantage that the rather high negative pressure that usually prevails on the top of the vehicle, especially on its rear part while driving, allows air to penetrate into the interior of the vehicle counteracts.

With the side suction openings: there is again the difficulty that there is relatively little space available for these openings.

According to the invention, with at least one supply opening, a much better and more effective cooling is to be achieved in that the opening for: the cooling air supply and the duct leading from this to the engine compartment. on the underside of the vehicle under the rear seats in front of the rear axle and extends over the entire width of the vehicle floor.

The rule here is during: the journey: quite a big one. Overpressure, which favors a strong penetration of air into the engine compartment of the vehicle, whereby .the supply channel at: this point does not need to hinder the easy accessibility of the various engine parts.

The one under the buttocks: sitting; The space available has so far been mainly used to store tools and the like, which is impractical. If necessary, it is necessary for the people in the seats to get out, and so it happens that the tools and necessary spare parts are always stored elsewhere, and this free, unused space then becomes a storage site Various little-used objects that usually rust, steam up or otherwise spoil in them.

The use of this space for the supply of cooling air thus eliminates - at the same time, these usually occur in most vehicles of the type described, the problem.

An embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown schematically in the drawing in longitudinal section.

The car body 1 has a rear from a divided space 2, in which the vehicle engine BEZW. the entire drive unit is housed. Under the rear seats 3 in front of the rear axle there is a downwardly open channel 4 for the supply of cooling air, which enters this in the direction indicated by an arrow. The channel is extended over the entire width of the vehicle floor in order to facilitate the entry of air.
