Description
Synthetic resin molding compound and method of making the same. The object of the present invention relates to a synthetic resin molding compound and a method for producing the same.
The synthetic resin press mixture according to the present invention is characterized by fillers which have been treated with cellulose triacetate, which can also contain plasticizers.
As a result, the fillers are provided with a coating of cellulose tri-acetate. If the fillers are porous and therefore absorbent, such as wood flour or fibrous materials in the form of flakes, threads, fabrics or paper or chips thereof, the fillers are also impregnated with cellulose triacetate.
The properties of the fillers pretreated in this way are largely equal to or achieve the same properties as those of the cellulose triacetate; they therefore give the molded object made from the press mixture valuable properties, in particular excellent electrical insulation properties and dimensional stability, i.e. resistance to swelling or shrinkage .
According to the invention, the synthetic resin compression mixture is also produced by treating the filler with a solution of the cellulose triacetate in a suitable solvent, then evaporating the solvent and finally mixing the filler with the synthetic resin. From the evaporation of the solvent happens before geous with constant circulation of the filler material mass.
The concentration of the acetyl cellulose solution depends on the surface of the filler and is generally so high that the filler particles do not stick together.
Under certain circumstances it is advantageous to choose the acetyl cellulose concentration so high that after the evaporation of the solvent the filler particles are no longer present separately, but rather embedded in a coherent acetyl cellulose mass.
This solvent-free mass is then comminuted for processing into press mixes, the particle size and shape of the comminuted mass depending on the requirements that are placed on the press mixes.
It is not always necessary to treat all of the filler particles used in a press mix with acetyl cellulose, especially highly acetylated, not too low molecular weight acetyl cellulose; rather, it is often sufficient to treat only some of the fillers used according to the new method . Even then, press mixes with better properties are achieved.
Tests have shown that cellulose triacetate can be used as a non-flammable motion picture, as it is available as a play-back motion picture or as waste in the production of non-flammable motion picture.
Before the treatment or Impregnation of the fillers with the cellulose triacetate solution, it is advisable to dry the fillers. In this way, unwanted reactions with the formation of low molecular weight organic acids are avoided in the case of wood flour, for example.
The invention is important for all synthetic resins, but curable phenol-formaldehyde resins are primarily used.
The following fillers are possible: inorganic and organic substances in the form of powders, flakes, fibers, threads, fabrics and other flat products. Examples include ground minerals, earth colors, wood flour, asbestos fibers, vegetable and animal fibers as such or processed into threads, fabrics or paper.
Under cellulose triacetate in the sense of the end he is understood highly aetylated celluloses, which are characterized by their solubility in chloroform. Cellulose triacetate with a content of 61.0 to 62.5% acetic acid has proven to be particularly suitable.
