Description

  L'interrupteur thermoélectrique repré  senté, plus     spécialement    destiné à     commander       le circuit d'alimentation d'un fer à repasser,       comprend    une plaque 1, en     éternit,    susceptible  de supporter ledit fer; à     cette    plaque est figée  au moyen d'une vis 2, une lame métallique à  ressort 3; celle-ci porte un organe bon conduc  teur de la chaleur 4 et le presse dans un ori  fice 5 pratiqué au     travers    de la plaque 1;

    cet organe 4, destiné à venir en .contact avec le fer à repasser susmentionné, est relié ther- miquement au moyen -d'un boulon 6, d'une rondelle métallique 7 et d'une plaque électri quement isolante 8, à une lame bimétallique 9. Ledit boulon 6 porte en outre deux élé ments 10 et 11 thermiquement et électrique ment isolants, entre lesquels est -engagé un étrier 12; et qui sont serrés au moyen d'une rondelle 13, contre laquelle presse un écrou 14.

  Quick on and off thermoelectric switch. The present invention relates to a thermoelectric switch with rapid engagement -and release, comprising a plate intended to support an appliance, such as an iron, electrically heated, characterized in that this plate has an orifice in which is arranged a member intended to come into contact with said device,

   this member being thermally connected by means of parts which are good conductors of heat to a bimetallic strip, the deformations of which cause the establishment and rupture of the connection of the heating resistor of the above-mentioned apparatus with a source of electrical energy , a spring being provided to ensure rapid displacement of the deformable part of said blade.

  The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the switch which is the subject of the invention.

  The single figure is a partial sectional view thereof.

  The represented thermoelectric switch, more especially intended to control the supply circuit of an iron, comprises a plate 1, in eternity, capable of supporting said iron; to this plate is fixed by means of a screw 2, a metal spring blade 3; the latter carries a member 4 which conducts good heat and presses it into an orifice 5 made through the plate 1;

    this member 4, intended to come into contact with the aforementioned iron, is thermally connected by means of a bolt 6, a metal washer 7 and an electrically insulating plate 8, to a blade bimetallic 9. Said bolt 6 further carries two thermally and electrically insulating elements 10 and 11, between which is -engaged a bracket 12; and which are tightened by means of a washer 13, against which a nut 14 presses.

  The bracket 12 is provided with a flange 15, to which is fixed a bar 16 carrying, on the one hand, a screw 17 allowing the sensitivity of the bimetallic strip 9 to be adjusted and, on the other hand, a screw stopper 18, against which abuts the free end 19 of said blade 9, when the latter cuts off the supply circuit of the iron. Opposite the screw 18 is a screw 20 fixed to the bracket 12, from which it is electrically insulated; this screw 20 carries a rod 21, electrically connected to one of the terminals of a current request 2 \? iron.

  The blade 9 has at its end 3 a screw 24 electrically connected to one of the terminals of an electric power source 25; the free end 1.9 of said blade 9 is engaged with one end of a leaf spring 26, the other end of which is fixed to. an adjustable screw 27 supported by the bracket 12; the spring 26 has a double curvature and is arranged in the extension of the blade 9, so as to accelerate the movements of the latter.

      The switch shown works as follows: The resistance of an iron being connected to the socket 22, the iron being cold and placed on the plate 1 and the member 4, the bimetallic blade 9 connects the terminal 25 to the thick headed \?\? by means of the screw 20; the iron heats up as well as the member 4 and the bimetallic blade 9; the latter, under the effect of the increase in its. temperature, will Arch, its end 19 will have. tendency to separate from the screw 20, which. will cause the appliance's power supply circuit to break.

   To prevent this breaking from occurring too early and above all to avoid a certain slowness of the breaking movement, the double curvature spring 26 has been provided which acts on the end of the bimetallic strip to accelerate its movements. This spring acts at the bottom of one side or the other of an average position in which it is subjected to the maximum tension from the part. of the bimetallic blade. Under the action of the latter, it will therefore pass abruptly to one side of this average position, or to the other, driving the end of the blade until it abuts against screw 20, either against the. screw 18.

    The screw 1.7 is provided to give a certain initial stiffness to the blade 9, thus making it possible to adjust the sensitivity of the latter and the screw 27 is provided for adjusting the spring tension: 26.

       When the iron and the blade 9 are at. again sufficiently cold, the end 19 separates from the screw 18 and, under the action of the res out 26, suddenly comes into contact with the screw 20 and, therefore, ensures the supply of said iron.

  The apparatus shown can also be used to limit the temperature of a soldering iron, for example.
