Description

Armchair convertible into bed. The present invention relates to an armchair convertible into a bed and consisting of at least three frames.

Furniture of this type is already on sale, but which has certain drawbacks, such as the permanence of the lateral shoulders or the armrests after the transformation into a bed, the need to add additional supports during the transformation of the elongated parts forming the bed, lack of convenience in processing operations, etc.

According to the present invention, which eliminates these drawbacks, the three frames are arranged one above the other, in a common profile, two of these frames being pi voted at opposite corners of the third so that the three can be brought into alignment, without interruption, to form a bed.

The cushions that said armchair can include in addition to the frames can finally be used to form the layer surface during the transformation into a bed.

The attached drawing shows one embodiment of the invention, given by way of example.

Fig. 1 shows schematically and in plan the three frames arranged so as to form a bed.

Fig. 2 is a side view of FIG. 1. FIG. 3 shows the bed in perspective, this one comprising cushions.

Fig. 4 shows an intermediate phase of the transformation into a bed.

Fig. 5 shows the armchair in perspec tive and back, also completed by the presence of cushions.

The central frame 1 is pivoted the frame 2 and the frame 3. The pivot 2c assembles the frames 1 and 2, placed directly on one another, the pivot 3c assembles the frames 1 and 3 with the interposition of a spacer 4. The backrest 5 is placed between the armrests 2a and 3a in the wheelchair formation according to FIG. 5.

After lifting and removing the backrest 5, you can immediately go to the transformation into a bed, performing the two angular displacements of 90 indicated by the trajectories X, Y (according to the arrows Xa, Ya) so that the armrest 2a is placed in position 2'a and the armrest 3a in position 3'a.

The difference between the heights at which the frames 1, 2, 3 are then placed can be compensated for by a difference in thickness of the three cushions lb, 2b, 3b, one of which, 3b, slightly wedge-shaped, can furthermore serve to elevate the head.

The two pairs of legs 2d and 3d, rigidly assembled to the armrests, are placed next to the four legs 1d of the fixed central frame 1, when the whole forms an armchair.
