Further training in gear hobbing machines using a hob. The invention described below relates to machines for cutting gears by a mother milling machine comprising a movable slide which carries an orientable milling head. Its object is a very simple and very robust movement transmission mechanism between the main control shaft and the cutter-holder shaft allowing the cutter to take all the angular positions sufficient to cut the helical gears or the like.
This improvement is characterized by the fact that the cutter head, pivotally mounted on the slide, supports an intermediate shaft, with a flywheel, parallel to the axis of said pivot and that means are provided to maintain the connection of said shaft. intermediate with the main control shaft, despite the variations in inclination of the cutter obtained by rotation of the head.
By way of examples, two embodiments of this improvement have been described below and shown in the accompanying drawing. Figs. 1 to 4 relate to the first embodiment and represent it respectively: FIG. 1 a schematic overall view, FIG. 2 a vertical section through the plane II-II of FIG. 3, fig. 3 a horizontal section through the plane III-III of FIG. 2, and fig. 4 a vertical section through the broken plane IV-IV of FIG. 3.
Figs. 5 to 8 relate to the second embodiment and represent the same views respectively.
According to fig. 1, the gear cutting machine, which is vertical, comprises a horil plate 1 (dancing a horizontal machine, this plate would be vertical) carrying the blank to be cut 2 and driven by a tan gente screw 3 which is connected to a shaft main vertical control 4. The cutter head 5 and the control members of the cutter are carried by a vertical table 6 called "slide," which can move vertically.
On this slide is pivoted, by a journal 7, of axis 8, the cutter head 9. The cutter 5 is carried by a shaft 10 terminated by a helical wheel 11 controlled by means of a tangent screw 12 by a first intermediate shaft 13 which carries a pinion 14. On the shaft 13 is mounted a regulating flywheel 15. All this assembly is carried by the cutter head 9 which, as indicated above, can pivot on the journal 7 .
The connection between this assembly and the main control shaft 4 is effected by means of the following members which are mounted in a housing 16 which can slide on a vertical slide 17 established on the slide 6. This transmission comprises an angle pinion 18 slidable along the main control shaft 4 which, for this purpose, is grooved, as well as a second intermediate shaft 19 bearing at its ends, on one side; a bevel gear 20, in engagement with the bevel gear 18 and, on the other side, a spur gear 21, which can be brought into engagement with the pinion 14 of the first intermediate shaft 13.
The realization of this construction diagram is visible in figs. 2, 3 and 4 where one easily finds the same organs as in FIG. 1, bearing the same numbers. In fact, in fig. 2, we can clearly see the grooved main drive shaft 4, the housing 16 movable on the slide 17 provided at the edge of the slide 6, slide on which it can be immobilized using bolts 22 and 23. We see in fig. . 3 and 4 the bevel gear 18 sliding on the vertical main shaft 4, as well as the second intermediate shaft 19 carried by the movable casing 16 with its angle gear 20 and its spur gear 21.
We find these same organs on the; left of fig. 4, on which we see, in addition, the pinion 14 driven by the pinion 21 and integral with the first intermediate shaft 13 which carries the movement regulating flywheel 15 and which, with the aid of the worm 12, com drives the pinion II of the cutter-holder shaft 1Q. At the bottom of fig. 3 we find this. cutter holder 10 with its tangen wheel 11 and cutter 5. As can be seen (fig. 3), the cutter holder shaft 10, as well as the first intermediate shaft 13 are carried by a very robust plate 24 to which they are closely associated.
It is this plate which is provided with the swivel 7 which serves as a pivot for the cutter head in the slide 6. The casing 16, movable vertically, which carries the second intermediate shaft 19, also forms, as can be seen in fig. 3 and 4, a very compact and very robust piece, of small dimensions, which is firmly linked to the slide and which easily controls the part of the transmission of movement integral with the milling head 9 made in the form of the plate 24 It is easy to see how it is possible to continue to ensure the transmission of the movement when the cutter head 9 is given different inclinations around its journal 7.
In fact, in this movement (fig. 2), the connecting pinion 14 of the milling head describes a circular band 25, 26, having as its center the axis 8 of the journal 7. For its part, the second pinion connection 21, carried by the vertically displaceable housing 16, describes a vertical strip 27, 28.
It is obvious that for all the inclinations given to the cutter and for which the connecting pinion 14 of the cutter head will encroach, however little, on the vertical strip 27, 28 representing the path described by the connecting pinion 21 of the movable casing 16, we can give the casing 16 a height position and even two (one above, the other below), such that said connecting pinion 21 of the casing 16 engages with said pinion 14 of the cutter head 9.
It is thus seen, from FIG. 2, which can be given to the cutter head all the inclinations included in angle A, which corresponds to approximately 120, which is generally sufficient limit for most jobs. This angle A can be increased by providing on the movable housing 16 an intermediate pinion (not shown) which can be interposed between the pinions 14 and 21. This first embodiment is interesting in that it only requires a small number of gears, which is advantageous for the reduction of backlashes.
In the event that an even greater possibility of inclination is desired, the embodiment shown in FIG. 5 to 8.
According to fig. 5, the slide 30, which can be moved vertically, supports the milling head 3.1 by the journal 32 having for axis the line 33, and the supporting milling head, as in the previous embodiment, the milling cutter 34, its shaft 35, the helical wheel 36, the tangent screw 37 carried by the intermediate shaft 38 supporting the flywheel 39 and provided with the connecting pinion 40.
Likewise, at the other end of the transmission, the main vertical control shaft 41 carries the sliding bevel gear 42 which is engaged with an intermediate shaft 43 carried by the slide 30 and provided with a bevel gear 44 and a spur gear 45.
The connection between the two shafts 38 and 43 is provided by an intermediate shaft 46 which is mounted along the axis 33 of the pivot 32 of the cutter head 31. This shaft 46 carries, at one of its ends, the pinion 47 which is connected to the pinion 40 by the two intermediate pinions 48, 49 and, at the other end, a pinion 50 which is connected to the pinion 45 by the intermediate pinion 51.
Since shaft 46 is located in. the axis of the journal 32, it is obvious that the connection of this shaft with the shaft 38 integral with the milling head 31 will take place for all the inclinations thereof. , The details of this diagram are clearly visible in fig. 6 to 8, in which the same components have the same numbers.
It can be seen that the general design of this second machine is similar to the first embodiment shown in FIG. 1 to 4. The slide 30 (fig. 7) supports, as before, the plate 53 mounted on the journal 54. This plate 53 supports, in a collected and solid manner, the cutter-holder shaft 35 as well as the first intermediate shaft 38 (fig. 6) with its flywheel 39 (fig. 8). AT.
the other end of the transmission, the shaft 43 (fig. 7 and 8), with its two pinions 44 and 45, as well as the bevel pinion 42, movable in height on the main control shaft 41, are housed in a housing 55 which is fixed in an adjustable position in height on the slide 30.
As seen in fig. 7, the pivot 54 of the cutter head accommodates inside it, along its axis, the intermediate shaft 46 and its two pinions 47 and 50.
As seen in fig. 6, the pinion 50 of this shaft 46 receives its movement from the pinion 45 of the final intermediate shaft 43, thanks to the intermediate pinion 51. The pinion 47 transmits this movement to the pinion 40 of the shaft 38 by means of the two auxiliary pins 48 and 49.
The slide 30 carrying the milling head 31 and the casing 55 can be moved in height, depending on the height location given to the blank 2 (FIG. 1), as well as according to the thickness of this blank.
This milling head can take all the positions around its journal, so that the milling cutter 34 can take all the inclinations relative to the blank and execute all of them.
the works. This embodiment is more complex than the previous one, but it nevertheless makes it possible to maintain the regulating flywheel on the shaft 38, which is the most favorable position to obtain a good execution of the size due to the absorption of vi brations due to successive impacts of the teeth; strawberries on the custard.
