Drive device for film, comprising a claw holder actuated by a Tr ézel cam. There are a multitude of film drive devices, comprising a claw holder actuated by a Trézel cam, that is to say by a body of generally triangular shape whose sides are rounded and can rotate in a square of size. invariable sions without variations of the clearances. We know that this type of device, if it seems very simple at first glance, does not however give complete satisfaction, especially in the case of driving a film in a projector.
It is in fact known that in a projector it is necessary to switch very quickly from one view to the other, so as to allow the projection of each view for as long a time as possible. However, it turns out that, in the known drive devices actuated by a Trézel cam, the average speed of translation of the claw during the driving of the film is slower than the average speed of translation of the claw during its. return run.
This is due to the fact that, during the film driving stroke, that is to say while the claw is engaged in the perforation of the film, the part of the Trézel cam which acts on the claw holder is located on the same side of the axis of rotation of the cam as the film, while the support of said claw holder is located on the opposite side of this axis. On the other hand, during the return stroke of the claw, the part of the cam acting on the claw holder is located on the same side of the axis of rotation of the cam as the support of the claw holder, the film being located on the opposite side of said axis.
It is therefore clear that the cam acts on the claw holder during the driving movement of the film, at a point further from the pivot point of the latter than during the return stroke of the claw. It follows naturally that the translational movement of the claw is faster during the return stroke of the claw than during its film drive stroke.
The present invention relates to a film drive device, comprising a claw holder actuated by a Trézel cam, and which avoids this drawback by the fact that it comprises a claw carried by a lever articulated on the claw holder , this lever resting on a member so that the rotation of the Trézel cam causes it to oscillate on its articulation point, this member being arranged so that the claw is in the engaged position, with a view to driving the film, when the claw holder is actuated by a part of the cam situated on the same side of the axis of rotation of this cam as the support of the claw holder, the film being situated on the opposite side of this axis.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example and schematically, two embodiments of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view of a first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a side view of a second embodiment.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the Trézel cam 1 gives a shoe frame 4 a periodic movement. The point of articulation of a lever 5 on the frame describes a path having approximately the shape of a rectangle. As in known devices of this kind, the claw holder rests on a fixed point A situated on the side of the axis of rotation 2 of the cam 1 opposite the film 3. In the known devices, the claw is in position. generally fixed rigidly to the nail holder. In the driving device shown, on the other hand, the lever 5 is articulated on the claw holder 4 and carries a claw 26.
The articulation point 6 of the lever 5 executes a movement, imparted by the rotation of the cam 1, following a path having approximately the shape of a rectangle a, b, e, d. The lever 5 is supported by the intermediary of a pin 7 on a guide 8. This guide 8 consists of two flat surfaces arranged on either side of a slot 9 made in the holding and guiding members of the film for the passage of the claw 26. The claw holder 4 carries drive members which are in permanent contact with the profile of the Trézel cam 1. In order to avoid the need for a very exact adjustment of these components and to allow the automatic take-up of play due to wear, two of these drive members 10 and I1 are rigidly fixed to the claw holder 4.
The two others. 12 and 13, are fixed on a bracket 1.1 articulated with play on the claw holder 4, springs 15 being provided to keep the members 10 to 13 in contact with the profile of the cam 1.
The operation of this driving device is as follows: When the cam 1 is rotating, the articulation point 6 performs a movement along the path a, b, c, d. La, ankle 7 being held by a spring (not shown) in contact with its guide 8, slides along the latter during races bc and da of point 6, while it rotates by sliding on the guide during races ab and ed. It is therefore clear that the end of the claw follows a path e, f, g, h having a shape similar to, that of the path abcd, but whose parts e, f < / I> and g,
h are traversed in the opposite direction of parts n, b and c, d of the path described by the point of articulation 6.
The pin 7 therefore constitutes in fact a movable articulation point on which the lever 5 carrying the claw 26 oscillates. Thanks to this reversal of the movement of the end of the. claw 26, it is possible to drive the film by rotating the Trézel cam in the opposite direction to its normal direction of rotation.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, by rotating the. cam counterclockwise, the correct movement of the claw is obtained for driving the film from top to bottom. Now, we notice that point B of the profile of the. cam, which acts on the member 10 to cause the stroke bc of the articulation point 6, and therefore the drive stroke of the film fg, is located on the same side of the axis of rotation 2 of the cam 1 as the fixed fulcrum A of the claw holder. It follows that this point B, acting on the claw holder with a relatively short lever arm, causes a relatively rapid movement of the articulation point 6.
Thus, the film drive speed is faster than in known devices, in which the Trézel cam rotates in the opposite direction to that described above and of which it is point C which acts on the member 10 for pro refer to the film feed movement while it is on the side of axis 2 opposite to the support of the shoe holder 4.
In addition, as shown in fig. 1, the claw engagement paths e-f and release g-h are parallel to each other, but slightly downward. This feature has the advantage of avoiding any contact between the claw and the film during the latter's withdrawal stroke since it rises slightly. As a result, the image cannot be moved during hot shoe removal and the fixity is excellent.
To allow the image to be centered in front of the projection window. point A can be moved up and down. To this end, the claw holder 4 rests, by a flat surface 16, on a cam 17 with a progressive profile, that is to say in the form of a spiral or of an eccentric, and the angular position of which can be modified. , chosen and fixed by means of known control members (not shown).
In order to avoid, as far as possible, the wear of the drive members 10 to 13, these can be provided in a non-metallic material containing fibrous elements.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the claw holder consists of grippers comprising two levers 20, 21 pivoted by one of their ends. On a fixed support 22 and held in contact with the profile of the cam by a spring 23.
The claw 26 is carried by a lever 5 pivoted at 24 on the end of the lever 21 of the claw holder. A spring 25 tends to keep the end of the rear part of the lever 5 in contact with the profile of the cam.
It can be seen immediately that the operation of this second embodiment is quite similar to that described with reference to FIG. 1, and that in particular the film drive stroke, the claw being in the engaged position, is also controlled by part B of the Trézel cam acting on the lever 20, while it is located on the same side of the 'axis of rotation 2 as the fixed support 22.
It is obvious that the parts of the levers 20 and 21 as well as that of the lever 5 which are in contact with the profile of the cam may be, as in the case of the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, provided in a material offering little resistance to rubbing ment and consequently exhibiting low wear.
In order to reduce as far as possible the masses set in motion by the Trézel cam, it is advantageous to provide all these members in a non-metallic material, for example in material to be molded, constituted, for example, by synthetic resin containing a fibrous material.
In a variant of the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the engagement and disengagement movements of the claw could be controlled by a rotary member, for example a cam rotating at the same speed as the Trézel cam, which would possibly make it possible to modify the precise inst as desired. the engagement or disengagement with respect to the driving movement of the film printed by the Trézel cam.
