Description
Vie.
Life. The object of the invention is a screw for fixing frames, tables, panels or other objects against a wall. She. is charac terized in that its head is secured to a metal point disposed obliquely with respect to the axis of the threaded part and in the opposite direction thereto, so that the threaded part is screwed into an object to be fixed , this point can be driven obliquely downwards into the wall, when said object is applied against the latter.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the screw according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view.
Fig. 2 is an end view from the left, according to FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 shows, schematically, the way in which the screw according to FIG. 1 and 2, to fix a frame, for example, on a wall.
The screw shown comprises a body having a threaded part 1 and a head 2, provided with the usual slot 3, intended to cooperate with a screwdriver. This screw has, in addition, a metal point 4, the base 5 of which is engaged inside the head 2 of the screw, where it is retained either because it is forced into a recess of this head, or because it is welded to the body of the screw. The point 4 is disposed obliquely with respect to the axis of the threaded part 1 and directed in a direction opposite to the latter.
The threaded part 1 of the screw is intended to be screwed into a frame, a table, a panel or another object, generally designated by 6 in FIG. 3, which is to be fixed against a wall 7. For the positioning of the object 6 against the wall 7, it suffices, after having screwed the screw 1 on this object, to apply the latter against the wall 7, by exerting pressure against this wall, in an oblique downward direction. Thus, the tip 4 is driven into the wall 7, which is more than sufficient to ensure the attachment of the object 6.
Object 6 should not be of a weight. too high and the wall 7 must be coated with a layer of gypsum, for example, into which the point 4 is liable to sink easily. Advantageously, provision can be made for fixing two screws, such as those described, to the two upper corners of the frame or other object to be fixed.
The screw described advantageously replaces nails, hooks and other similar articles of known types.
In a variant, the metal tip 4 could be made in one piece with the screw, for example having come from manufacture by casting; it could also be screwed into the head 2. This point 4 will preferably be made of hardened steel.
