Electric iron with built-in temperature controller. The present invention relates to an electric iron with a built-in temperature controller and a heating element embedded in the sole of the iron.
The temperature regulator of such irons, which is very sensitive to foreign objects, such as dust and the like, must therefore be protected as far as possible against the ingress of such foreign objects.
According to the invention, the temperature regulator is arranged in a recess of an additional weight part of the iron, which closes the temperature regulator from the heating element of the iron and the attachment point for the same in a dust-tight manner.
The dust-tight closure of the temperature regulator against the radiator and its embedding is expediently thereby. that the surface parts of the sole piece and the additional weight part lying on top of one another are ground and they fit onto one another in a sealing manner.
If the temperature regulator is adjustable by hand outside the iron and for this purpose has a rotatable control element which penetrates the additional weight part and to which a rotary lever is placed outside the additional weight part for operation, so that the temperature regulator can also protect against foreign bodies that could penetrate from the outside, is protected, a coaxial cover plate can be connected to the adjusting element,
through which the penetration opening in the additional weight part is tightly closed by - this disk slides under contact pressure on a mating surface of the additional weight.
It is advantageous not only to cover the temperature controller against the radiator with embedding, but also to cover the latter so that it is tight against the outside, by providing surface parts that are ground to fit tightly on one another.
The rotary lever for adjusting the temperature regulator is expediently not fixed, but adjustable son countries with the adjusting a related party; this makes it possible to use the rotary lever immediately before installing the iron handle. correct position to its scale, which is arranged on the iron hood to put on. For this purpose, the adjusting member penetrating the additional weight part can have an approach with notches outside of said part, into which mating notches of the rotary lever to be used fit.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of an iron with a manually adjustable temperature regulator, namely: FIG. 1 shows a vertical longitudinal section of the iron along the line A-A of FIG. 2, FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the same with the handle omitted; Fig. 3 shows a detail on a larger scale corresponding to Fig. 1 and Fig. 4 is a plan view of the adjusting organ for the temperature controller: The drawn iron has the sole 1 with the heater 2 embedded in the same.
The additional weight part 3 rests on the sole 1 with the surfaces 4 and 4 ', these surfaces being precisely ground on both the sole 1 and the additional weight part 3 and therefore lying on top of one another in a dust-tight manner.
In the additional weight part 3 a Ausspa tion 5 is provided, which is used to accommodate the temperature controller 6. Since the surface 4 is located between the recess 5 and the heating body 2 or its embedding, the same are dustproof from each other.
To set the temperature controller 6 is a Veretellorgan with a rotatably mounted in the iron, with its free lower edge forming a control cam sleeve 7 is seen before, which is rotatable by means of a rotary lever 8 bar. The rotary lever plays over a scale carrier 9 which is attached to the iron cover hood 1'0. The adjusting organ has at its end lying outside the bore penetrated by it in the additional weight part a projection 11 with three ribs serving as notches.
The rotary handle 8 sits on a ring part 12, the bore of which has teeth serving as counter-locking (see Fig. 2), the approach 11 carries a disk-like flange 13, which rests with its edge on the ground edge of the hole in the Zusatzgewiclsteil sealingly, with it is simultaneously pressed under pressure by an interposed spiral spring 16.
The bracket 14 for the iron handle is attached to the iron by means of screws 17, together with the cover 10, which carries the protective plug sleeve 15, with the bolt 1'8 pressing the additional weight 3 onto the sole 1 and at the same time a nut thread for one of the Has screws 17.
