Description

       four    obvier aux difficultés inhérentes au       eent-rage    de     l'écran,    on a déjà, proposé de       pKv        oir    sur le manchon une ou plusieurs     sur-          et    de fixer l'écran de ladite     élec-          ii@ode        pur    cette     surépaisseur.    La, pièce en       céramique        requise    à cet effet est obtenue par       tonrna.ge    d'un gros tube de céramique- de       faibles        alésage;

      ceci requiert un important. travail dftournage de sorte que ce procédé u, flonvirnt que pour k# tubes à décharge de prix é1f.-vc. Pour le tube suivant l'invention cette. pièce en céramique est obtenue par pressage et la surface de contact entre la pièce en céramique et l'électrode se trouve au fond d'un interstice formé entre la pièce en céra mique et l'électrode dont il faut protéger le conducteur,

  Glass bulb electric discharge tube with protected electrode inlet. ha jiréente invention relates to a. t decliargf fiber, provided with a ceramic part which protects against the discharge the inlet conductor of an electrode and which is sealed to the glass of the wall of the tube (or of an extension of this wall).

      Dan. the known tubes, the piece in eéra- iiqn (consists of a rather long sleeve which e4;, @ Iis: sé around the pole of the electrode and which t) i @ iii # trc- up to the body of the electrode . The inaiielion is separated from the body of the electrode by an axial gap, and its end more or less fits into the electrode.

   The inanclion also acts as a support for the erari which surrounds the electrode. The centering dc, the screen in relation to the electrode, gives rise to eepc.ii, dant difficulties because this screen is pinched <<. using a ring around the thin-ceramic sleeve.

   In addition, the mandrel may move somewhat relative to the electrode.

       Oven obviate the difficulties inherent in the eent-rage of the screen, it has already been proposed to pKv oir on the sleeve one or more sur- and to fix the screen of said electec- ii @ ode pur this extra thickness. The ceramic part required for this purpose is obtained by tonrna.ge a large ceramic tube - small bores;

      this requires an important. turning work so that this process will only flow for k # discharge tubes of e1f.-vc. For the tube according to the invention this. ceramic part is obtained by pressing and the contact surface between the ceramic part and the electrode is located at the bottom of a gap formed between the ceramic part and the electrode whose conductor must be protected,

   these members having ends intended to fit into one another in the form of truncated cones.

  So that, the; ceramic part can be produced with the press, it is necessary, .in general, that its height is not too great com parée to, its diameter and also that the. ceramic part does not have too large differences in height. Preferably, the ceramic part has a conical edge used for centering the electrode. The ceramic part does not require any turning work for pro fabrication. Only to arrange a groove all around the part, for the fixing of the electrode screen, it is possible to resort to turning.

  As, on the one hand, the. ceramic part is quite short and that, on the other hand, it is not technically indicated to provide therein an axial gap, it is thanks to the acute angle that the gap forms with the axis of the electrode, that the length of this gap is greater than in the case of a radial gap. In addition, the leakage path between the electrode and the screen is quite long.

        To avoid undesirable contact between the screen and the electrode, which could be caused by the ceramic part which has become conductive due to the fact that it is covered with the material deposited by spraying or by vaporization, this part is provided with a or more grooves which counteract the formation of a continuous conductive layer. To facilitate the sealing of the ceramic part to the glass, it is preferably provided with a raised edge.

       When the screen of the electrode must be rigorously centered, the. ceramic piece with a conical edge.

  In the accompanying drawing two embodiments of the object of the invention are shown by way of example.

  Figs. 1 and 2 represent protected electrode inputs, provided with a ceramic part. In fig. 1, a tubular part 2 enters a discharge tube whose wall is designated by 1. The part 2 is an internal extension of the wall 1. To this wall is sealed a ferro-nickel cover 3, which carries the wire d Power supply to the electrode 4, the connection member of which is indicated by 5. On the tubular part 2, made of glass, is sealed a ceramic part 6, with orifices 11 in the form of funnels.

   The electrode, in this case the anode 7, is made of graphite and is pushed on the threaded part 10 of the pole wire, against the ceramic part. The conical edges 9, which fit into each other, ensure the relative centering of the ceramic part and of the anode. The ceramic part is separated from the anode by a half-angle cone-shaped gap at the acute top. The ceramic part carries an anode screen 8 made of metallic gauze, clamped in a groove by an elastic ring 12.

   In fig. 2, the shape of the ceramic part is slightly changed; the boundary surface of the intersection is prolonged there and the anode screen, provided with a conical edge, is centered on this surface. In the boundary surface of the gap, a circular groove 14 is formed, which takes on a shape such that, by spraying or by vaporization, no uninterrupted conductive layer can be produced.

    Others. parts of the part shown in fig. 2 are indicated by the same numbers as those in fig. 1.
