Briquet pyrophorique.
Pyrophoric lighter. The pyrophoric lighter, object of the invention, is of the type which has a lateral pusher, used for ignition using a thumbwheel. In the particular eae, the wheel is driven, in one direction by a toothed sector forming a pusher,
this sector being combined with one. blanking screen for a flame hole in the lighter housing. This shutter screen will generally have the shape of a slide performing a translational movement parallel to one of the short sides of the lighter which will, in this case, have the shape of a parallelepiped with a rectangular base.
The drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the lighter according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation thereof, enlarged by a vertical median plane along the line I-I of FIG. 2 which is a cut of the same model according to. line II-II of fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is an elevational view of the lighter as it appears when it is lit. The body: of the lighter shown is formed by a reservoir 10, of elongated rectangular section, closed by a filling plug Il and flanked by a tube 12 inside which is housed a pressure spring 13 for the pyrophoric stone 14.
The reservoir ends at its upper part with a wick holder 15 from which the wick 16 exits.
The tube 12 is extended upwards to form two bearings 17 in which the screw 18 is supported; it comprises a hard toothed ring 19, in direct contact with the wheel, and a drive part 20, notched on its periphery and cooperating, -in known manner, with rollers 21 to drag the toothed ring 19 in a direction tion only, here clockwise for the attack of the stone 14 by the teeth of the wheel 18.
So that this can take place, the lighter has a pous evening 22, pivoted at 23 in bearings 24 produced with the tank, and ending at its top with two teeth 25 in engagement with. those of two toothed wheels 26, each located on a square 27 of the axis 28 of the wheel that a second square 29 drives.
The pusher 22 has a stop 30 that a leaf spring 31 presses against the casing and which: has two side studs 32 engaged in notches 33 of a shutter screen 34 guided on one side, on the top of the reservoir 10 and, on the other side, along the underside of a casing 35 covering the entire body of the lighter and all the mechanisms and components which it carries.
The housing is pierced with a flame hole 36 normally closed by the shutter, but released, that is to say aligned with another hole 37, provided in this shutter when, by pressure on the button 22 , we lit the lighter causing a spark between the wheel and the. pyrophoric stone. When:
of this alignment, a lateral hole 38 of the shutter is placed opposite a similar one, 39, made in the wall of the housing 35, which provides the possibility of an upward air current or of draft, at the tra to holes 38, 39, 37 and 36 to give the flame a direction facilitating the use of the lighter.
The pyrophoric lighter .described and represented is at rest a body. closed on all sides, requiring no manipulation for its closure, - therefore always secured in the pocket of its wearer. The position and length of the posussoir allow vigorous action on the dial; the location of the wick inside the casing allows ignition even in a current of outside air.
