Description

Method and device for hardening objects using high frequency currents. The use of high frequency currents to heat the surface layer of an article part to be cured is already known. High-frequency energy is induced in the layer to be hardened by means of a so-called heating head. The head consists of a coil which surrounds the object to be heated and is fed with high-frequency current in some known way.

So far, for example, if the part of a crankshaft or a similar machine part running in a bearing is to be hardened, a heating head is used which surrounds the part to be hardened along its entire length and the surface layer in its entire length to the hardening he required Temperature heated.

However, since such parts form a whole piece with adjacent parts (arms, webs, etc.) of the same machine element, such a method does not produce uniform heating of the entire surface layer and therefore also no uniform hardening of this layer. The ends of the shaft, which are provided with massive arms, for example, are less heated due to the dissipation of heat. Sufficient hardening of the surface therefore only takes place in the middle part of the shaft section to be hardened, while the ends are insufficiently hardened. These disadvantages occur even more clearly in the case of shafts whose shape is of a particularly complex nature, as is the case with shafts provided with flanges for bearing in track bearings for absorbing the axial forces.

The invention aims to avoid such parts after. It relates to a method for hardening objects, the surface layer of a part of the object to be hardened being heated with energy induced by high-frequency currents.

The method according to the invention is characterized in that the heating process is carried out by means of a heating head whose expansion in the direction of the length of the part of the object to be hardened is less than this length and that the heating head relatively oscillates back and forth during the heating process to the part of the object to be hardened, this movement being non-uniform, so that the individual points of the part to be hardened are exposed to the action of the heating head for different times.

The invention also relates to a Einrich device for performing this method, which is characterized in that the heating head is connected to the secondary winding of the heating transformer by rigid current-supplying organs and that the secondary winding consists of a slotted ring that extends in the axial direction of the Pri - is moved back and forth along the winding in order to achieve a back and forth movement of the heating head along the part of the object to be hardened.

Embodiments of the invention are shown schematically in the accompanying drawing.

1 shows the arrangement of the heating head, the transformer and the means for generating movements during the hardening process of a crankshaft journal.

2 shows the heating head in a plan view on a larger scale.

Fig. 3 shows a section of the heating head, the right half of the section line III III.

Fig. 4 shows the arrangement for the process of cooling.

Fig. 5 shows the arrangement of the heating head in a gear to be hardened.

In FIG. 1, 1 denotes a pin of a crankshaft, the surface of which is the subject of the hardening process. The pin is surrounded by the narrow, removable heating head 2. It can be seen that the expansion of the heating head in the direction of the pin length is significantly less than this length.

The heating head is provided with rigid power supply members 3 and with a slotted ring 4, which represents the secondary winding of the heating transformer; 5 is the primary winding of the transformer.

The heating head 2 is removable, which is best seen in Figure 2; the two halves of the same are -indicated 9 and 9 'and -a - the pivot points 10 are rotatably arranged.

At the lower end of the power supply members 3 and 3 ', other heating heads of different diameters can be interchangeably fastened in place of the present heating head, which increases the versatility of the device in that journals of crankshafts of different diameters can be treated.

The secondary ring 4 is connected to a transverse slide 8 by means of a number of rods 6, and 7 is fixedly mounted purely by means of a driven shaft 71, the eccentric 7 which is rotatably supported in a slide block 72, the slide block 72 being transversely displaceable in the slide 8 is. The rods 6 can be performed by any means.

It can be seen that during the rotation of the shaft 71 and thus also of the eccentric 7, the ring 4 representing the secondary winding is moved back and forth harmoniously together with the heating head 2, while the heating head 2 heats the surface layer of the pin 1, to harden the same using high-frequency energy. The primary winding of the filament transformer is long enough to permanently generate a sufficiently large coupling with the ring 4, the to and fro movement of the ring 4 being taken into account.

It can be seen that during the harmonious back and forth movement of the heating head 2, the ends of the crankshaft journal 1 are exposed to the action of this heating head for a longer time than the center of the journal. This is advantageous because it compensates for the fact that the crank arms at the ends of the pin dissipate heat from the latter and thus uniform heating of the pin surface is aimed at.

In order to achieve even heating to harden the object, a movement of the head other than a harmonious back and forth may be required. According to another law of the movement to be generated, the eccentrically ge superimposed circular disc 7 is replaced by a correspondingly shaped cam disc, which then men works directly with the slide 8 together.

In order to move the heating head relative to the pin 1 appropriately and to zen or adjust, the heating head is arranged, for example, so that the crankshaft pin 1 serves as a guide for the movement. Appropriately, the surfaces of the half 9 and 9 'of the heating head are provided with an insulating enamel coating - 12 attached to sheet copper. whereby the heating head against the heated pin 1 is isolated.

The winding of the heating head is cooled by a cooling liquid is seen in a recess in the interior of the winding. The email serves. Also for loading the attachment of guide pieces 13, which are made of copper and are in contact with the heated pin 1 and guide the heating head during the reciprocating movement.

Appropriate guidance can also be achieved by other means, which, however, must also be effectively isolated from the heating head winding.

The cooling device, which is shown for example in Figure 4, consists mainly of a container 15 in which the object in the hardening process - in the present case a crankshaft is clamped between the tips 14, one of the tips on the bottom of the container and the other is provided above the same so that the crankshaft is arranged in a vertical position in the container. The walls of the container can be designed to be expandable and compressible, whereby the height of the container can be changed according to the position of the pin of the crankshaft, which is to be heated over the liquid and then cooled.

As soon as the Zap ien has reached the required temperature, the level of the liquid in the container 15 is increased in order to surround the heated pin 1 with liquid.

For this purpose, the container 15 has an annular trough 16 which is connected to the container 15 through an opening 17.

Above the level of the liquid is a liquid displacement be certain ring 18; As soon as a pin has reached the required temperature, the ring 18 is placed in the liquid in the trough 16, whereby the level of the liquid in the container is raised to the desired height and the heated pin is immersed in the rising liquid. Instead of a trough arranged on the circumference of the container, a container of the same content can be ruled out on the container, which is only on one side of the container 15 if desired.

The movements of the heating head are continued uninterrupted in order to keep the cooling liquid in motion around the hardened pin, as a result of which steam bubbles which would attach to the pin to be hardened and would be detrimental to the hardening of the pin are removed.

Another embodiment of the present invention consists in the hardening of flat objects, such as the teeth of gears. The hardening of gears - especially those with large teeth - has so far been associated with considerable difficulties. The toothed wheel teeth are now hardened individually by means of a heating head (FIG. 5) which, during the heating process, moves back and forth in the tooth gaps adjacent to the tooth in the direction of the gear wheel axis.

By means of this arrangement, the best possible heat distribution and the most advantageous hardening of the tooth flanks can be achieved, the uneven movement of the heating head using a cam disc can be made so that practically only the flank surface is hardened, the other gear parts but their toughness and Maintain flexibility.

The cooling process can be carried out according to the preceding description. The heating head is then withdrawn from the tooth, the gear is rotated through the required angle and the next tooth is subjected to treatment.

It is of course also possible for the heating head to remain at rest during the heating process, the relative movement of the heating head and the object to be treated being achieved by moving the object. The required relative movement can of course be achieved by moving the heating head and the object to be cured simultaneously.
