Wrapping device. The present invention relates to a wrapping device.
The machines. @gzuiper have: been widely used to this day and especially in two different types that we commonly meet. One of them is.
the fin type, in which a lightweight lique wire fin is used to control the yarn. wrapping in its passage from the rotating spool of yarn to the "wrapping or covering" position of the core. The other type is.
the ring and slider one, in which a fixed ring is placed near one end of the rotating spool of thread, and a slider engages the thread Oisse around this ring and controls the gimping thread in its passage. the feed spool to position. of mistletoe page of the soul.
These earlier guipers work very satisfactorily with spindle speeds rising to about <B> 10 </B> 000 revolutions per minute, but if one tries to make them work at speeds (the much higher, the gimp thread breaks frequently, and other difficulties are experienced.
The object of the present invention is to provide a gimping device which is capable of working at a high speed without breaking the guidewire. (The device is.
characterized in that it comprises a hollow spindle, for movelis view allowing it to be rotated at a high speed, and intended to support a spool of wrapping thread, a guide and thread tension elza- skin rotatably mounted on the end of the spindle, so as to be able to rotate freely with respect to the spindle, this cap having a central duct intended <B> to </B> receive the core to be guiped and -It leads lateral which communicates with ee central duct and.
through which passes the thread (the wrapping which comes from the spool and which must be wound on the core, this thread being free of any stress between the point where it leaves the spool and that where it reaches the cap.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view.
Fig. ? is an axial section, and.
the fi-. 3 is a vertical section, at plus 0 # 1razzde scale, of the upper end of the pin of the device shown in figs. 1 and?. A la fia. l., 10 denotes the upper end of an electric motor including. the central shaft is hollow and. extends in one piece upwards, for a substantial distance from the motor housing, to form a hollow guide pin 11, intended to support and silence a spool of wrapping wire 1 \ 3 to high speed.
The thread of this spool is wound on a cardboard tube 13, which fits tightly on a mo @ -eu 14, usually of wood, the central part of this hub being provided with leaf springs 15 provided at three angularly spaced points. 120 degrees around the tubular body, the role of these blades being to exert a frictional action on the inner surface of the tube 13. The hub 14 is notched at its lower end to engage on a drive key 16, provided near the base of the rotating spindle 11.
The hollow pin 11 extends upward some distance beyond the upper end of the spool of thread 12, and its upper end is provided with a cap 17 mounted at. rotation on the end of the spindle and intended to guide and tension the wrapping wire. This hat, clearly represented in fig. 3, has an axial vertical duct 18 which passes right through it, and inside which passes the core C intended to be wrapped. The cap 17 also has an oblique duct 19 which is inclined outwards and downwards, and in which the covering yarn Y, supplied by the spool 12, passes to be wound on the core C and to form with it. here the covered yarn S.
The cap 17 is provided with a tubular extension 20 which extends downward into a cage 21 which serves to increase the height of the cap 17 above the spool of thread. The cap 17 is rotatably supported in this cage by a small one. ball bearing, the inner and outer rings of which are designated 22 and 23 respectively, and between which the balls 24 are disposed. The cage 21 has a tubular shank 25 which fits tightly into the bore of the spindle 11.
The direction in which the wire spool 12 is. rotated by the spindle 11 is, like gold, the one suitable for keeping this wire wound around the spool, except for the relatively short length of wire which is shown by solid lines in one of the spools. its positions and by dashed lines in two other positions, in fig. 1, to indicate that the yarn is subjected to ballooning as it leaves the spool and rises inside the oblique duct 19 to enter the cap 17.
When the wrapping device shown is operating at a high speed, the yarn Y balloons outward, as shown, and this prevents it from being pulled against the surface of the. spool, but when the wrapping spindle is turned on or slowed down, the thread tends to. be pulled and. at. rub on the surface of the coil 12 when the speed is insufficient to cause it to bloat outwardly. To reduce the friction and the resulting braking, it has been found to be extremely. It is desirable to provide the hollow hub 1.1 with a spool flange 26 at its upper end.
This flange is preferably made of a tough and durable fibrous or plastic material which provides a smooth surface on which the wire slides freely and which is not prone to scratching or nicking. This spool flange 26 is rigidly fixed to the upper end of the hub 14, this hub being provided for this purpose with an upper base 27 on which the flange 26 is glued.
It will be noted that the flange 26 is relatively thick, so as to present a wide outer edge on which the wire can. slide, and that the outer diameter of the flange 26 should be slightly greater than the diameter of the. wire spool 12, when it is. full, so that the wire being unwound comes into contact with this flange rather than with. the. wire spool surface. In the embodiment shown, the cardboard tube 13 extends a slight distance beyond each end of the spool of thread 12.
The flange <B> '</B> 6 is therefore cut internally on its underside to constitute an annular recess' _'8 intended to constitute a clearance for the upper end of the tube 13.
The wrapping device shown works as follows: When the wire spool 1.2 is rotated at a high speed by the spindle 11, the yarn Y which has been threaded through the thread guide hole 19 of the cap 17 s' wraps around the core ("which, at this moment, is driven continuously upwardly inside the spindle and hollow cap 1.7, at a determined speed. This upward displacement of a core ('a the effect of pulling the yarn Y from the spool 12 along and inside the oblique hole 19, this yarn being at the same time rapidly wound around the core by the high speed of the spool.
The balancing action of the yarn Y, together with the free rotation of the cap 17 which allows the latter to adapt to the speed at which the yarn unwinds from the spool 1.2, ensures the adjustment of the tension at which is subject the wire while it winds helically on the C.
As the diameter of the cap 17 does not exceed that of the pin 11, the assembly formed by the hub 1-1, the flange 26 and the spool of wire 12 resting on this hub, can be placed on the wrapping pin and removed from this brooch without disturbing the hat.
It has been found, in practice, that the positive wrapping device shown works extremely satisfactorily and subjects the yarn to a tension much lower than that which occurs in wrapping devices of the wing type and ring and cursor, which has. as a result that the wrapping device shown can operate at much higher speeds than other wrapping devices currently available. In fact, the wrapping device shown works satisfactorily at speeds up to and. exceeding <B> 25,000 </B> revolutions per minute.
This high speed is allowed in large part due to the mounting on ball bearings dli cap 1.7, which mounting allows this. member to rotate freely in accordance with the tension of the yarn Y. This avoids the friction which occurs when a fin or a slider ring are driven from rotation to. high speed.
