Chalumeau.
Torch. The present invention relates to -Lin clialtinleau can. undergo various transformations, allowing it to provide very variable heating powers, which torch can be used in particular in dental and chemical laboratories to effect fusions, welds and. solders; It can also be used as a vertical axis burner instead of a Bunsen burner.
The torch which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that it has the shape of a gun, the trigger of which controls a drawer allowing (to adjust the flow rate of a fuel gas supply duct arranged inside laughing (the handle and barrel of the pistol.
In a particular embodiment, the posterior end chi cannon can. present a tapped opening suitable for receiving either tuff plug or. an auxi liaire pipe extending along the barrel in the axis of the first duct and constituting a second gas or compressed air supply duct.
The front end of the barrel may have a threaded opening suitable for receiving nozzles of different orifice sizes, in order to make it possible to produce flame tips of varying strength. The box could have a fastening device allowing a tripod to be attached to the rear part of the barrel, so as to be able to use the blowtorch as a vertical axis burner. The. accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, three embodiments of the torch, object. of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view of the torch according to the first embodiment.
Fig. '? is a similar view of the second embodiment.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to FIG. \? with -a detail variant.
The, fig. 4 is a quickly in elevation, part in section, of the. embodiment shown in fig. 3, arranged to function as a vertical axis burner.
In the drawing, 7 designates the body of the device, in the form of a pistol, presenting a handle and a barrel: in the grip is a duct '?, Extended along the barrel by another duct'? A resulting. with -a nozzle 4, removably mounted, so that the torch can be provided in each case of use with the appropriate nozzle.
Transversely to the conduit 2 and in the vicinity of the barrel, the handle has a bore 5, in which a udder 8 can move. the rod is. extended outside the handle by a button 8a functioning as a trigger; the piston 8 is subjected to the action of a spring 6 bearing in a hollow screw 7 and constantly tending to return the piston 8 to the closed position called duct ?. A split washer 8b, part engaged in the. handle and part in the barrel, prevents the piston 8 from coming out of the borehole 5 under the action of the spring 6.
At rest (fig. 1), this drawer closes the duct; the section offered to the passage of a combustible gas, supplied by soot piping connecting to a connector 9, depends on the pressure exerted on the trigger. An adjustable stopper, constituted by a screw 10 mounted on a bracket 11, is placed opposite the trigger 8a. The screw 10 can be brought into contact with the trigger 8a to keep the latter in a given position, freeing the user from the obligation to keep his finger on this trigger; the flame can thus be adjusted to the desired strength.
The rear end of the barrel has a threaded opening 12 which, in the embodiment shown in FIG. 1., where the cha- huiieau is intended to operate with a single compressed gas supply, is. closed by a plug 13.
In this case, we get. a more or less hot flame depending on the flow. gas flow rate which is regulated by means of the aforementioned trigger.
To obtain even hotter flames keys, the plug 13 is removed and a pipe 14 (fig. 2) extended by a tube 14n extending along the axis of the pipe 2a is screwed instead. The tubing can. be supplied either by compressed air or. by compressed gas. In the case of using compressed gas, the nozzle 4 must. have suction ports -Icc (fig. 1).
As an alternative, one can use another tube 15, extended by a tube 15a., Supplied with compressed gas of the same type as that admitted through line 2, or of a different nature, and. provided with an adjustable air inlet 1.6, for example by a rotary damper 17 (fig. 3).
Finally, the torch can be used as a burner with a vertical axis, by screwing the pipe 1.4, thanks to a thread 14b, into a tripod 18 (fig. 4). In this case, the posterior orifice of said tubing is closed by a plug 19 and a connection '0 is provided on the side for the supply of air or compressed gas.
