Electronic device comprising a series of rocking circuits. The subject of the invention is an electronic device comprising -a series of rocking circuits, each comprising Lin first and a second thermionic tube each controlled by at least one grid, and capable of taking alternately a stable state called EN </ B> and a stable state says OFF.
The electronic device object of the invention comprises a series of coupling circuits # each comprising a thermionic tube controlled by at least one grid and connected between each of said tilting circuits and the following tilting circuit, a source of positive impulse, and , means for applying these pulses simultaneously to at least one control grid of the tube of each of the coupling circuits.
In this device, at least one control gate of each of the coupling circuits is connected to the toggle circuit preceding this coupling circuit, so that a switching of this preceding toggle circuit modifies the polarization of this gate and makes this tube sensitive to said positive pulses.
The appended drawing represents, by by way of example, three embodiments of the electronic device which is the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1 and 111 taken together constitute the electrical diagram of the first embodiment which is a closed chain meter.
Fig. 2 is the diagram of the second embodiment which constitutes a counter provided for a single operating cycle which can be triggered at the chosen instant.
Fig. 3 is the diagram of the third embodiment, which is a counter including an automatic resetting device.
Fig. 4 is a table illustrating an operating cycle of the counter according to the diagram of FIGS. 1 and the.
The counter shown in fig. 1 and la comprises a pulse forming circuit, generally designated by S, four rocking circuits A, < / B> B, C and. D and coupling stages H, I, J and K. The pulse forming circuit, each of the bottom circuits and each of the coupling stages are separated from neighboring circuits by vertical dotted lines. Each of the tilting circuits comprises two tubes each controlled by a grid: Al and A2, B1 and B2, CI and C2 and < B> Dl and D2 respectively.
The tubes used are all of the same type and may, for example, be of the type. ordinary comprising a single tube per envelope, or, if desired, all of these tubes may be of the well known type comprising two tubes in a single envelope.
Each of the switching circuits À à D can be in one of two stable states which it takes alternately. In the latter of these stable states, one of the tubes is conductive and the other non-conductive, and in the a-liter state, the conductivity conditions of these tubes are reversed.
These two stable states will be referred to hereafter as ON and OFF states. The EN state is arbitrarily assigned to the tilting circuit, when its left tube, for example 'the tube A1 of the tilting circuit A, is conductive and, the tube of' right A2 non-conductive. The OFF state conversely. defined in that the left tube Al is non-conductive, the right tube A2 of the tilting circuit A being condticte-1-ir.
In the initial or zero state of the counter, the toggle circuit A. is in the EN state and. the rocking circuits B, C and D are in the OFF state, as indicated by the points arranged respectively. to left and below tube .11 and to right and below tubes B2, C2 and D2. This method of indication is also applied to the a-Liter diagrams in the drawing. The rocking circuits A, B, C and D are identical and the operation of these circuits will be described in reference has tilting circuit, To and to the values of the resistances and the capacities that it includes.
These values are given for the sole purpose of simplifying the explanations and it is understood that they can be considerably modified.
The cathodes of the tubes .11, A2 are connected respectively by connections 10 and 11 to a line of ground or zero voltage 19- and the anodes of these tubes are respectively connected by resistors 14 and 15 to a line to + 150 volts 13. < / B> Each of these resistors includes two resistors connected in series, one of 12 000 ohnis, that is to say 12 KO, connected to l 'anode, and the a-Liter of 7,
5 KQ connected to line 13. A connection 16 connects the anode of tube A2 to </ B > 1% x upper end of a voltage divider made up of resistors 17 and 18 of 200 KQ each.
A capacitance 19 of 100 picofarads (pF) crosses the resistor 17. The lower end of the voltage divider is connected to < / B> a polarization line 20, itself connected to a polarization line 21 of - 100 volts by means of a CBS polarization cancellation switch . Likewise, a coupling 22 connects the anode of the.
tube Al at the upper end of a voltage divider consisting of resistors 23 and 24 of 200 KS2 each, resistor 23 </ B > being shunted by a capacitor 25 of 100 pF, and the lower end of this voltage divider being connected to the polarization line 21 to - 100 volts.
Being. since the switch A is EN at initial state, tube 12 is polarized to to be non-conductive, so that, by the well-known effect (rocking bed, caused by the coupling of the anode of each tube with the Fautre grid, the tube Al is conductive. We can, say that this tube A2 is blocked by the polarization or that its flow is cut off by the effect of this polarization: we will therefore speak of a cut-off polarization.
Toggle circuits B, C and D are OFF at state. initial, the tubes B2, C2 and D2 being conductive and the tubes BI., Cl and Dl non-conductive; The - control grids for the Al., B2, C2 and D2 tubes are connected to, the cancellable bias line 20, which allows the rapid resetting of the counter to the selected initial state.
To reset the circuit to the initial state chosen, the cancelable bias line 20 is separated from the bias line 21. to - 100 volts by opening the switch. CBS. When this switch is opened, the voltages applied to the grids of the tubes Al, B2, C2 and D2 rise above the polarization de eoup-are and these tubes are made conductive, regardless of the state in which they were immediately before the opening of this switch.
A similar polarization _ canceller is provided in each of the embodiments shown, and, in each case, the purpose for tracking is. the same, the modifications of these devices being limited to the connections of the grids of, control of the selected tubes, connecting these grids to the annulable polarization line. One thus obtains initial states chosen which are different from the respective rocking circuits. From the foregoing, it clearly emerges that the tubes whose grids are connected to the cancelable bias line 20 are conductive when the meter is at </ B> the initial state or zero chosen.
Closing the CBS switch does not remove the positive bias applied to the control grids of the conductive tubes, but on the contrary allows to these to remain conductive until the stable state of each of the respective rocking circuits is modified by external means. For example, the control grid of the tube -11. is brought to a potential determined by the voltage divider comprising the resistors 1.5, 17 and 18 connected in series between the line 13 and the cancellable polarization line 20, and, this potential is greater than than, the tension necessary to hold the conductive Al tube.
The toggle circuit, J is switched, to from its ON to state by the application of a negative pulse < B> to the control grid of the tube Al (when it is, conductive) and it is switched to the state EN < / B> by applying a negative pulse to the anode of the tube Al. (when it is not conducting).
When a negative pulse is applied to the control gate of the tube Al supposed to be conducting (state EN), the positive bias voltage of this grid is dimmed and the Al tube is made less conductive. The anode voltage of the Al tube then increases and this increase in voltage is transmitted from the anode of the Al tube. to the control grid of tube A2 through resistor 23 and capacitor 25 connected in parallel.
This has the result of making the control grid of tube .12 sufficiently positive for this tube to become conductive. A because of the current then passing through this tube, the voltage of the anode of tube A2 decreases. and this voltage decrease is transmitted to the control grid of the tube Al to through resistor 17 shunted by the condenser 19 < / B> and makes the Al tube even less conductive. This effect is cumulative and continues until the Al. tube is non-conductive and the A.2 tube reaches a stable state of conductivity. Thus, the negative pulse applied to the control grid of the tube Al switches the entire tilting circuit A, to from its state ON to state OFF.
This circuit, remains, to the OFF state until a negative pulse is. applied to Tube fanode _11, that in the OFF state is non-conductive.
When such a pulse arrives at this anode, the control grid of the tube A2 is also made negative and the tilting circuit is switched to the EN state. The rocking circuit remains at the EN state until a negative pulse is applied to the control grid of the tube Al.
The alternating application of negative pulses to the control grid and to the anode of the tubes Al and A2 has the effect of have the rocking circuit repeat the operating cycle described above.
The pulse formation circuit, or more simply S formation, comprises the tubes 26 and 27 controlled by grids and whose anodes are connected to </ B> the line at + 150 volts 1.3, respectively at through resistors 28 and 29 . The cathodes of tubes 26 and 27 are connected to the ground line 12 by connections 30 </ B> and 31 respectively.

The anode of the tube C2 is connected to the control grid of the tube 52 of the neck stage range J </ B> by a connection 53 and resistor 39. This control gate is also connected to line 40 by resistor 41 and a connection 56. The cathode of the tube 52 is connected to line 12 by a connection 57 and its anode is connected to Panode of the tube Dl by a connection 58.
The anode of the tube D2 is connected to the so-called tube 59 control grid of the neck range K range by a connection 60 and resistor 39. This control gate is also connected to line 40 by resistor 41 and a connection 63 . The cathode of the tube 59 is connected to line 12 by a connection 64 and its anode is connected to the anode of the tube .41 by -a connection 65.
The anode resistor 14 of the tube B1 is connected to the control grid called tube Al by a connection 66, in series with -a ca pacity 67 of 40 pF and a resistance of 1 KSJ. The anode resistance 14 of the tube Al is connected to the control grid said tube Dl by a connection 72 </ B > as standard with a capacity 73 of 40
pF and a resistance of 1 K.Q. The so-called D2 tube control grid is connected to line 13 by a connection 72a in series with a capacitance 73a of 40 pF and a 1 KQ resistance The anode resistor 29 said tube 2î is connected to the control grids of the tubes 37, - 45, 52 and 59 by a 74 connection and by four capacities 75 of 25 pF each.
The closed chain counter shown is actuated by applying a train of positive rectangular pulses to a terminal 76 connected to the gate control of the tube 26 of the formation circuit S. The tube 26 is made conductive by each of these pulses and it is non-conductive during the 'interval between two pulses, ie when a positive pulse is applied.
When a positive pulse is applied to terminal 76, the amplifier limiting tube 26 is turned on and the voltage of anode of this tube decreases sharply, at from + 150 volts up to + 50 volts approximately. A cause of the action of differentiation of the capacity 33 and of the resistance â5, (the very sharp positive and negative impulses appear at the common point of the capacity 33 and. Of resistor 35. Resistor 34, through which the grid current of power tube 27, carries, prevents positive pulses from modifying the anode potential of this tube.
The very sharp negative a-Li opposite impulse acts effectively on the control grid of the tube 27 and results in a corresponding reduction in the current passing through this tube, producing thus a positive voltage pulse at, the anode of this tube.
Although the pulses applied to input terminal 76 have been described as rectangular pulses, it goes without saying that it is not essential that they are actually rectangular-shaped, but that these positive pulses can be of various irregular shapes and that they can be applied to terminal 76 at random and at a rate any.
Connection 74 is connected to the anode resistor 29 of the tube 27 and it transmits a positive pulse with an amplitude of 80 < / B> approximately volts, approximately between + .50 and + 130 volts, to the control grids of the tubes 37, 45, 52 and 59 through capacitors 75. The resistors 1.5, 39 and, 41 constitute a voltage divider between line 1.3 to + 150 volts and line 40 to - 250 volts. When the tubes A2, B2, C2 and D2 are conducting, the voltage at the respective common points of the resistors 15 </ B> and 39 is lower than when these tubes are non-conductive.
When they are conductors, the effect of division. voltage of the respective resistors 39 and 41 a to fix the voltage of the control gates of the corresponding tubes 37, 45, 52 and 59 at approximately -85 volts. The positive pulse transmitted at this instant by connection 74 is insufficient to make these tubes conductive. Consequently, when one of the tilting circuits is OFF, the tube of the coupling stage whose control grid is connected to the anode of the right tube of this tilting circuit OFF, is not made conductive by a positive impulse transmitted by connection 74.
When one of the tilting circuits is ON, the anode potential of its right tube is higher than when it is OFF. When a toggle circuit is in this state, the voltage divider formed by resistors 15, 39 and 41. applies a voltage of about - 35 volts to the control grid of the tube of the following coupling stage:
for example, when the toggle circuit A is EN, the control grid of the tube 37 is biased to - 35volts. If a positive pulse is applied to the control grid of the tube of a coupling stage when this grid is polarized at -35 volts, that tube is made conductive and , when its grid is made slightly positive, the current delivered In by this grid prevents everything. Substantial further increase in the bias potential of this gate. A because of this gate current, the total amplitude of the pulse applied to the control gate does not is not effective and does not have the effect of causing a corresponding modification of the potential of this grid.
The operation of the tilting circuits, of the pulse formation circuit and of the pulse control of the coupling stages has been described and a complete operating cycle of this closed chain counter will now be described with reference to FIGS. l # la and 4.
Before any pulse is applied between the input terminal 76 and the. line 12, the counter is at its state, initial or at the chosen 7th, the switching circuits -1, B, < I> C and. D being respectively EN-, OUT, OUT and OUT, as shown in fig . 4. Thus, the control grid of the tube 37 is polarized to - 35 approximately volts and the control grids of the tubes 45, 52 and 59 are polarized at - 85 volts approximately, so that only. tube 37 can be made conductive by the first positive pulse transmitted by line 74.
When the first positive pulse is applied to input terminal 76, a positive pulse is transmitted to from the resistance of anode 29 of tube 27 to connection 74, as we saw above. This positive pulse passes to through connection 74 and is applied to the control grid of the tube 37 via the capacitor 75 and makes this tube conductive.
As a result, the anode potential of tube 37 decreases, and this decrease in potential is transmitted to the anode of tube BI. by connection 44 and makes this anode negative, thus switching the rocking circuit B to the state EN. The rocking circuit B being EN </ B> and the tube B1 being conductive, the anode potential of this tube is reduced.
This potential reduction is transmitted to the control grid of the conductive tube Al and the connection 66, the capacitor 67 and, the resistance of- 1. KQ and makes this tube AI less conductive, thus switching the switching circuit A to </ I> the OUT state. The increase in the anode potential called tube B2, which occurs when the tilting circuit B has passed to Pétat, EN, has the effect of reducing the polarization voltage. negative ion applied to the control grid of tube 45 up to - 35 volts approx.
The increased positive voltage at the anode of tube B2, resulting from the fact that this tube is non-conductive, does not have the effect of increasing the bias voltage of tube 45 to - 35 volts immediately, to because of the delay introduced. by resistance 39. When the control tube of tube 45 is finally biased to - 35 volts, the first pulse has already passed and is no longer felt on connection 74. It is obvious that the pulses applied to this connection 74 must be short enough to prevent the operation of an intermediate tube diary, different from the one whose command grid is. polarized as de- described above.
When the second pulse is applied to terminal 76, the positive pulse it produces on connection 74 is applied to the gate control of the tube 45 to through the capacitor 75, and, since the polarization of this grid is now non-negative, this positive voltage superimposed on </ B> this less negative polarization is sufficient to , make this tube conductive.
The decrease in anode voltage of tube 45 resulting from this second pulse is transmitted to the anode of tube CI by connection 51 </ B > and engages the rocking circuit C, that is to say commits it to the state EN. When this circuit C is activated, the increased anode voltage of tube C2 polarizes the control grid of the tube 52 to about - 35 volts, and a decrease in the anode voltage of the tube < B> Cl. has the consequence of transmitting a voltage drop to the capacitor 69 through the connection 68,
and to the control grid of the tube BI, triggering the rocking circuit B, that is to say switching it to the OFF state .
When the third pulse is applied, to input terminal 76, the resulting positive pulse on connection 74 is applied to </ B> the control grid says tube 52 to through the capacity 75 and makes this tube conductive.
The reduction of the anode voltage of the tube 52 is transmitted to the anode of the tube D1 to through the connection 58 and engages the tilting circuit D. When the tilting eii # D is engaged, the increase of the anode voltage of the tube D2 pola-, rise, the control grid of the tube 59 ù in about - 35 volts, and a decrease in the anode height said tube Dl has the effect of reducing the voltage of the control grid of the tube Cl, triggering the circuit, rocking C,
this voltage decrease being transmitted to this grid by the connection 70 and the capacitor 71.
When the fourth pulse is applied to terminal 76, the positive pulse is generated on the. connection 74 is applied to the control grid of the tube 59, to through the capacitor 75, and makes this tube conductive. The reduction of the anode voltage of the tube 59 is transmitted to the anode called tube A1 to. through the connection 65 , and engage the bottom circuit A.
A the engagement of the low culant circuit A, the increase, of the anode voltage of the tube.A2 polarizes the control grid of the tube 37 to - 3.5 volts approximately and, the reduction of the anode voltage of the tube AI is transmitted to the control grid called tube Dl, to < / B> from resistor 14 and, to through connection 72, the capacitance 73 and the resistance of 1 < / B> KQ, and triggers the tilting circuit D. The tubes and the tilting circuits of the counter are then in the same state as they had in the initial or zero position,
and an operating cycle said counter- tor is completed, four pulses having been counted, in the direction that each of these four pulses successively correspond to four different positions of the device, of which we small, therefore, to derive easily, in good . different places, usable impulses, for example, in other circuits of a calculating machine.
It is clear that throughout the operating cycle of this counter, only one inter-stage coupling tube is in a state, at a given time, to transmit a pulse positive reaching it from connection 74. When a coupling tube thus controlled becomes sensitive, it switches the rocking circuit which immediately follows it.
Changing the anode voltage of one of the tubes in this circuit makes the next stage coupling tube sensitive to positive pulses transmitted through connection 74, and changing the anode voltage of the next stage. Another tube of the same tilting circuit performs a switching of the tilting circuit which precedes it.
It will be noted that the connection connecting the control grid of the tube Al to the anode of the tube B1 constitutes a connection between the line 13 at + 150 volts and the control grid tube Al. Consequently, a disturbance on line 1.3 can cause an unbalance of the tilting circuit A, sufficient to switch this circuit to from one of its stable states into the other. For this reason, a capacitor 67a has been provided, connecting the control grid of the -12 tube to the line 1.3 to + 1.50 volts and thus allowing to < / B> any disturbance occurring on this line 13, to reach the control grids of the tubes Al and A2.
Thus, the capacity 67o, prevents a communication of the circuit bas- eulantA, to from Fun of its stable states in the other, under the effect of the disturbance reaching line 13. Capacities 69a, 71a and 73a perform the same functions as capacitor 67a and prevent respectively the switching of the rocking circuits B, C and D under the effect of disturbances of the line 13.
A complete operating cycle of the electronic switch, described with reference to figs. 1a and lb, is shown schematically to in fig. 4 which speaks for itself. The electronic counter described above is a closed chain counter, comprising a series of tilting circuits, each of which is connected to the next by the intermediary of a coupling circuit and to the previous to through a eapacitive coupling. In this counter,
switching of each of the tilting circuits has the effect of producing a switching of the preceding tilting circuit and of making the following coupling circuit sensitive to the pulses applied to the counter. This also includes a circuit. intended for producing sharp pulses, to from pulses of rectangular shape, and, means for transmitting these sharp pulses simultaneously to all the coupling circuits of which only one, at any given instant, is sensitive to these pulses.
Each coupling circuit that this counter comprises is such that it constitutes a sensitive assembly to of the pulses which are applied to it, this coupling circuit co-mutating a rocking circuit, under the effect of these pulses , to starting from one of its stable states in the other, this switching making the following coupling circuit sensitive to the pulses.
The meter whose electrical diagram is shown to in fig. 2 includes a circuit. pulse forming 8, represented by a rectangle, and producing a series of sharp positive pulses applied to connection 74, to from positive pulses applied to the input terminal 76. This counter also includes the rocking circuits A, B and C and the coupling circuits between stages H and I.
The rocking circuits A, B and, C and the coupling circuits H and I are identical to, those used in the counter of figs. . 1 and the, but these circuits are connected in a way to to ensure a different mode of operation. The control grid of the Al tube is connected to line 21 to - 100 volts to through a resistor 18 and the control grid of tube A2 is connected to the cancelable bias line 20 through through a resistor 24. Thus, at the initial state or chosen zero, the rocking circuits A, B and C are all triggered.
Terminal 77 is connected to the control grid of tube A2 to through a 78 capacitor and a connection 79. The anode of the tube C2 is connected to -a terminal 80 to through a connection 53 and this terminal 80 follows the voltage variations of the anode of this tube C2. Terminal 80 can be connected to iiii. inter-stage coupling circuit following or to another device sensitive to its variations in potential.
The control gate of the tube Cl is connected to a terminal 81, at which negative pulses can. be applied conductively, via a 70. connection. These negative impulses have the effect of switching the switching circuit C, from from its state, EN in its IIORS state.
The same polarity canceling device as in the counter of FIGS. 1 and the is intended to reset the counter to the initial state or zero chosen.
If positive pulses are applied to connection 74 to from the pulse forming circuit 8, when the counter is to the initial state. chosen, they have no effect on the steady state of any of the tilting circuits, since the control grids of the tubes 37 and 45 are polarized to </ B> -85 volts approximately.
When a negative pulse is applied to terminal 77, it is transmitted to the control gate of the conductive tube A .2 via capacitor 78 and connection 79. It makes this tube less conductive and thus switches the tilting circuit, -1, to from its OFF position to ON position. According to the description of the operation of the meter shown in fig. 1 and 1 ", it will be understood that this switching of the tilting circuit A initiates the counter by making it sensitive to positive pulses supplied by the S pulse training circuit,
the polarization voltage of the control grid of the tube 37 being made less negative, and passing from - 85 volts to - 35 </ B> volts approximately. When a positive pulse is then transmitted by the forming circuit S and applied to the control grid of the tube 37 thus polarized, this tube is made conductive and transmits a negative pulse to the anode of tube B1, to through connection 44, and. switches on the tilting circuit B. When this switch is on, the increase in voltage of the anode of the non-conductive tube B2 polarizes the control grid of the tube 45 to - 35 volts approximately.
The decrease in voltage of the anode of the conductive tube BI. is transmitted to the control grid of the tube Al (then conductor) via the connection 66 and the capacitor 67, and triggers the tilting circuit A. When triggering the tilting circuit A, the decrease in the anode voltage of the ' tube A2 polarizes the control grid of the tube 37 to - 85 volts and. makes this tube insensitive to the impulses supplied, by the S. circuit.
The next positive pulse supplied by the pulse forming circuit makes the tube 45 conductive and a negative pulse is transmitted to the anode of the tube Cl through the, con nexion 51 and. engages the rocking circuit C. When the rocking circuit C is engaged, a voltage decrease is transmitted to the control grid of the tube conductor Bl, to through the connection 68 and the capacitor 69, and, triggers the tilting circuit B.
This trigger has the effect of biasing the control grid of the tube 45 to approximately - 85 volts, thus rendering the counter insensitive to the following pulses supplied by the circuit. S. pulse formation
The terminals 80 and 81, respectively connected to the anode of the tube C2 and, to < / B> the -rill, command of the tube Cl, can be connected to other circuits, for example in a way to, </ B > for mer a closed chain, the counter then being transformed into a closed chain counter. Terminal 80 can also be connected to any device sensitive to, the voltage of this terminal, terminal 81 </ B> being connected to a source of negative pulses intended to trigger the rocking circuit C, thus returning the counter to its initial state selected.
This counter can therefore be used as a single cycle device, operating after being primed. In this case, it may be necessary to open and close the polarization cancel switch CBS after each single cycle of operation, to restore the counter to its initial state. Alternatively, this counter can also be arranged to function as a closed chain type counter after having been initiated.
The counter which has just been described is therefore sensitive to a number of pulses determined terminated at from the moment when it has read a impulse priming it and making it sensitive. The last to pulse to which this counter is sensitive and which carries out the continuation of the counter operation cycle can be used to return the toggle circuit switched by the counter. previous pulse to its other stable state and to put this counter back to its initial state, in which it is insensitive to the following pulses.
It is also possible to provide for manual aior eration of such a counter.
The counter shown in the diagram of FIG. 3 comprises a circuit for forming pulses S and coupling circuits between stages II and 1 identical to the corresponding circuits of the diagram of fig. 2. The rocking circuits N2, Nl and N are the last three rocking circuits of a meter comprising < B> N rocking circuits and are identical respectively to the rocking circuits A, B and C shown in fig. 2.
The tilting circuits and the coupling circuits between stages are connected as in fig. 2.
A terminal 85, connected by connection 86 to the anode resistor 14 of the tube N2-1- is also connected to the control grid of the first tube of the tilting circuit not shown, which immediately precedes the tilting circuit N2, to trigger this circuit when the circuit N2 is engaged.
A switching circuit L is provided to restore the counter to its initial state chosen at the end of each of its operating cycles, The cathode of the tube 87 is connected directly - fully to the ground line 12 and its anode is connected directly to the anode of the tube N-2 to </ B> through connections 88 and 53. The control grid of the tube 87 is connected to the anode tube N-2 through connection 53 and resistor 39, and to line 40 to - 250 volts to through a resistor 41.
When the meter is in its chosen initial state, the neck tubes range 37 and 45 and the switch tube 87 are polarized to -85 </ B > volts approximately, and positive pulses applied to connection 74 by circuit S are -, without influence on the respective stable states of the rocking circuits. However, when the N2 toggle circuit is switched, to from its OFF state to the EINT state, according to the normal operation of the meter, the negative polarization voltage of the control grid of the tube 37 is increased to approximately -35 volts, and the tube 37 is made sensitive to -a pulse supplied by connection 74.
When the pulse forming circuit supplies the next positive pulse to connection 74, the tube 37 is made conductive and engages the tilting circuit NL. When this circuit is switched on, a negative impulse is transmitted to the control grid of the conductive tube N2-1 by the connection 66 and the capacity67 N2. Triggering of the N2 circuit results in a decrease in the polarization voltage of the control grid of the tube 37 </ B> up to - 85 volts approximately, thus rendering this tube insensitive to the positive impulses transmitted by connection 74.
The activation of the NI. circuit also results in the polarization of the control grid of the tube approximately 45 to - 35) volts by increasing the voltage anode of the non-conductive tube N1-2.
When the pulse-forming circuit supplies the next positive pulse to connection 74, tube 45 is made conducive and engages the N. rocking circuit. from this circuit, a negative pulse is transmitted to the control grid of the conductive tube Nl-1 through the connection 68 and the capacitor 69 and triggers the rocking circuit M. The triggering of the circuit Yl results in a decrease in the bias voltage of the control grid of the tube 45 to -85 volts approximately,
thus making this tube insensitive to the positive impulses transmitted by connection 74. In addition, the engagement of the N circuit results in an increase in the voltage of anode of the non-conductive tube JV-2, the polarization of the control grid of the tube 87 to - Ô5 volts approximately.
The following positive pulse applied to the control grid 87 makes this tube conductive. The voltage drop at the anode of tube 87 is transmitted to the anode of tube N-2 through the connections 88 and 53 and triggers the tilting circuit N. When this circuit is tripped, the voltage decrease at the anode of the conductive tube N-2 is transmitted to the control grid of tube 87 which is thus polarized to -85 volts approximately and made insensitive to the following positive pulses transmitted by connection 74.
The counter is thus reset to its chosen initial state, the rocking circuits N2, Nl and N being triggered and the tubes 37, 45 and 87 being insensitive to the positive impulses transmitted by the connection 74.
In summary, the high anode voltage of the N-2 tube has the effect of triggering the tilting circuit N and to make the mutating tube 87 responsive to positive pulses transmitted by connection 74. When the tube 87 is made conductive by a positive pulse transmitted by connection 74, it operates a commutation putting the rocking circuit N in the OFF position.
The low delay of the pulse due to the resistance 39 connecting the control grid of the tube 87 to the anode of the N- tube 2 is sufficient to ensure that the. circuit N is triggered by the tube 87 made conductive, before the voltage decrease at the anode of the tube N-2 does not make the 87 tube non-conductive.
Thanks to the automatic repositioning carried out by the switching circuit L, the counter of FIG. ô is continuously ready to operate by pulses applied to terminal 85. This corner cireuit- mutation can be connected to the C toggle circuit of the fi # ,. 2, in exactly the same way that it is connected to circuit N of fig. 3. In this case, the terminals 80 and 81 and the connection 70 of fig. 2 are unnecessary.
When the switching circuit L is used in this way, the switching circuit C is automatically reset to its IIOR state ,, - ,, the counter thus being reset to its chosen initial state. We thus obtain a counter at single operating cycle with automatic re setting at the end of each cycle, each operating cycle being initiated, at using an outside source, at a chosen time.
