Description

Dispositif vibratoire.

Vibratory device. This invention relates to a vibratory device having a vertical axis of rotation and provided with at least one mass which can pivot about an eccentric axis so as to be able to move radially and axially with respect to said axis. vertical. This vibratory positive device is particularly intended to be applied to gyratory screens of the type used above all in the flour mill industry.

Hitherto, the amplitude of the vibrations of such devices has been modified either by increasing or by reducing the eccentricity of the masses with respect to the axis of rotation about which they rotate. Considerable difficulty was experienced, however, in starting or stopping the vibrator, owing to the existence of a critical speed of rotation. The resulting disturbance often damaged the device and, consequently, it became necessary to remedy this undesirable effect.

It has been found that by retaining the masses concentrically around the axis of rotation the excessive vibrations which occur at critical speeds can be suppressed. In order to achieve the desired result, one way was for the masts to be axially movable. Therefore, in order for the masses to assume an eccentric position, a centrifugal force large enough to overcome the resistance to axial displacement had to be imposed on them.

This resistance to axial displacement was determined in advance in order to obtain speeds different from those corresponding to the critical speeds. Consequently, when it was wished to modify the amplitude of vibration according to the material to be worked, the mass system had to be modified,

or other significant modifications had to be made to the vibratory device to obtain the desired effects. The device dirtying the invention is characterized in that it comprises means which are angularly adjustable with respect to said eccentric axis, to limit the radial displacement of the mass.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of a vibratory device.

Fig. 2 is an enlarged elevational view, partially in section, of the vibratory mechanism. .

Fig. 3 is a perspective view, on a larger scale, of a detail of FIG. 2.

Fig. 4 is a sectional view along the line IV-IV of FIG. 2.

Fig. 5. Is a sectional view along the line V-V of FIG. 2.

The vibratory device shown in FIG. 1 has a series of material receiving assemblies 7 which may have sieve stacks for sifting the material, for example 1a. finely ground flour, which is delivered to the assemblies 7. A lower frame 8 and an upper frame 9 rigidly connect the assemblies 7, and constitute a support device for the vibratory device.

The device may be freely suspended by means of rods 11, or resiliently supported by means of springs, rubber blocks or other suitable devices, allowing free vibratory movement thereof.

A shaft 12 is mounted to rotate in swiveling spherical bearings 13, carried by a lower bearing 1.4 and an upper bearing 15, fixed respectively to the lower frame 8 and to the upper frame 9.

The shaft 12 can be driven by a belt and a mo- tor (not shown) or any other suitable drive device from one end; but in the case shown, the shaft 12 is provided with a part 17 extending through the lower bearing 14, this part 17 being able to receive a belt pulley for example.

The vibratory device mounted between the sembles 7, as shown in FIG. 1, carries masses 25 which make the device unbalanced relative to the axis of shaft 12, which is described in detail below. The rotation of the shaft 12 gives rise to oscillations, which are transmitted to the units 7 connected to the shaft 12 by the upper and lower bearings 13, following a circular path clans a horizontal plane.

Oscillations occur as the shaft 12 rotates, the resulting centrifugal force pivoting the masses 25 about two shafts 18 in a radial direction so as to move the masses away from the shaft 12 to produce an imbalance.

The two shafts 18, the axes of which are parallel to the shaft 12, are disposed eccentrically with respect to the latter. The parallel shafts 18 are connected to the shaft 12 by means of a series of consoles, comprising end consoles 19, an intermediate bracket 20 and lower and upper consoles 22 and 23 respectively. Each of the consoles has three cylindrical holes to receive the shaft 12 and the parallel shafts 18 respectively.

Set screws can be screwed into the respective brackets radially to each of the cylindrical holes in order to secure each bracket to the shaft 12 and to the two parallel shafts 18. FIG. 3 shows the console 20 as well as one of the fixing screws 24. said con sole to one of the trees 18.

The masses 25 are mounted so as to be able to oscillate around the parallel shafts 18 and are carried by arms 27. The arms 2 7 have bores through which the shafts 18 pass, the arms thus being able to slide. along these trees. Halfway between the ends of the masses 25 is an arm 28 having a cylindrical bore 29, perpendicular to the axes of the parallel shafts 18, in which the rod 31 of a finger 32 slides.

In fig. 5, it is seen that in the arms 28 are screwed bolts 33, the height of which is adjustable and which strike the shaft 12 when the centrifugal force of the masses 25 decreases below a critical value.

Two cams 34 are supported axially by the intermediate console 20 and can pivot around the shafts 18. Each cam 34 has two bosses 35 between which is placed a bar 37. The bar 37 is. pierced with several holes and bolts 39 make it possible to fix the position of the cams 34 relative to the bar 37. Each cam 34 has a guide path which includes ii section 42 parallel to the axes of the shafts 18 and. ends with a 40 helix.

This path serves as a guide for the finger 32, the contacting surface of which is frustoconical, but could also be cylindrical or the like, or of any other suitable shape.

In order to obtain the same movement of each finger 32, along the guide paths of the cams 34, the masses 25 are mounted so as to oscillate in synchronism. For this purpose, gear segments 43 meshing. together, are fixed to the respective masses 25, as shown in FIG. 1.

Before operating the vibratory mechanism at its maximum efficiency, various adjustments are necessary. To facilitate these, two bolts 44 are screwed into the upper console 23. By screwing these bolts -14, the masses 25 are raised, which frees the cams 34 of their weight and. thus these cams - can be moved axially. The axial position of the cams limits the movement of the masses 25 upwards.

Of course, the intermediate console 20e which is intended to support the cams 34, must be brought into contact with the latter to prevent axial sliding of the cams. The position of the cams 34, fixed to the bar 37 determines the amplitude (the vibrations of the masses 25. With the bar 37 removed, the cams 34 can pivot around the parallel shafts 18; it is thus possible to fix the cams in the desired position by passing the bolts 39 through the holes corresponding to said position The position of the cams 34 having thus been adjusted, the bolts 44 ,, have then unscrewed until the masses 25 press again on the cams 34.

The operation of the vibratory device is as follows. When the shaft 12 begins to rotate, the masses 25 remain in their initial position relative to the axis of rotation, until the. centrifugal force is large enough to overcome the resistance to movement of fingers 32 through the guide paths. The axial and angular displacements of the masses 25 are limited, the limit positions depending on the adjustment of the position of the cams 34.

Fig. 3 shows that for any position of the cams 34, the maximum axial displacement of the masses 25 remains the same.
