Spreader cap for container containing a liquid product.
The present invention relates to a spreader stopper for a container containing a liquid product which is spread by feeding the plug by gravity by overturning the container.
The plug according to the invention is earac terized in that it comprises a tubular plug made of a permeable material, having a central duct, and a supply element consisting of a hollow body housed in said central duct, this supply element communicating at its lower part with the container and allowing its upper part, by overturning the container, to access the liquid in contact with the inner side wall of the plug.

Fig. 12 is a partial section through the plug of FIG. 10 in operating position.
The stopper shown in fig. 1 to 4: comprises an approximately cylindrical tubular plug 1 (fig. 4) and consisting of felt or any other permeable material.
The buffer 1, closed on one side by a seam 2, is engaged over about half of its length in a nozzle 3 of a screw cap 4 of molded material.
On the upper part of the buffer 1 a cap 5 is applied, which screws onto the screw cap 4.
In the central duct of the buffer 1 is housed a feed element which consists of a split tube 6 terminated at its ends by pallets 7, 8. The upper pallet 8, the width of which is greater than the diameter of the tube 6, is folded in 8 'on the tube 6 open in 6'. The folding is carried out at an angle of 180, so as to apply the pallet 8 against the opposite outer wall of the tube 6 (fig. 3). This arrangement allows the liquid to exit, through the opening 6 'below the folded pallet 8, laterally to the fold 8'.
The liquid fills the free space a (fig. 1 and 5) provided in the buffer 1 through the tube 6, the paddle 8 of the supply element and the inner walls of the buffer cylinder, and it can thus be immediately absorbed by capillary action by the buffer.
Liquid cannot flow past the side outlets of the fold 8 'without passing through the pad 1, since the walls of the pad 1 are kept apart by the paddle 8 of the feed member. which brings about the approximation of the walls of the buffer to give it, along the folded pallet 8, a progressively flattened shape to its end. The feed element is set back relative to the end 3 'of the pad 1, which allows the walls of the latter to rest against each other above the fold 8' and 'prevent free flow of liquid.
The lower pallet 7 of the feed element is also folded back and serves as a hook for fixing the buffer 1 and the element 6 in the nozzle 3.
To this end, the pallet 7 is folded back at 7 ', after introduction of the buffer 1 into the fitting 3, on the rim of the latter, thus forming the retaining hook.
The buffer 1 being capped at rest by the cap 5, screwed in a sealed manner, with the interposition of a seal 10, on the screw cap 4, the flow during transport cannot take place inside the cap 5 due to the absence of air. In use, the supply is ensured, through the opening 6 'of the tube 6, by the free space a located between the pallet 8 and the walls of the felt 1, forming a constant level reservoir of equal capacity. to the quantity of liquid which can be absorbed rapidly and completely by the felt, which ensures the automatic and progressive distribution through the pad 1 of the quantity of liquid necessary for the spreading operation.
This quantity of liquid can be adjusted as required by decreasing or increasing the dimensions of the feed element.
For products containing elements in suspension, such as for example liquids for bleaching canvas shoes, the tube 6 is straight (see fig. 5) and it extends appreciably beyond the bottom of the screw cap 4, so as to be apart from the solid deposit forming in the bottom of the stopper during use. The felt 1 is held in place by a metal wire 11 passing right through the felt and curved in the form of a hook on the boss of the stopper.
The tube 6 may also include at its lower end an angled elbow 12, as shown in FIG. 6; the solid particles contained in the liquid cannot then be deposited on the orifice of the tube and do not run the risk of obstructing the orifice when the container is in the operating position.
In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 7 and 8, the supply element is constituted by a block 13 molded in one piece with the body of the plug itself and having a central supply duct 13 '. This block 13 is closed at its upper part cut into a whistle and it is pierced laterally with several channels 14 which allow the liquid to exit into the free space 15, from where it is absorbed by the felt pad 1; the latter is force-fitted and held on the block 13 by clamping using a metal or elastic wire 16 retained in an annular groove 17 provided for this purpose.
In the variant illustrated in FIG. 9, the supply element 0 is cylindrical over its entire height and has grooves 18 which are formed on the outer walls of the cylinder at a certain distance from its end to form a free space a between the felt 1 and 1. element 20 and to allow the exit of the liquid necessary to supply the felt. This supply is provided by lateral holes 19 opening into a central duct 21 of the supply element.
The embodiment of FIGS. 10 to 12 is more especially intended for liquids containing solids in suspension. Inside the felt pad 24 is arranged a coil spring 215 with contiguous turns forming an elastic feed tube whose end turns 26, 27, 28 of the part engaged in the buffer 24 are separated from each other and inclined respectively at increasing angles, the last turn 28 being close to the vertical position. The opening of the turns 26, 27 and 28 leaves in the upper side wall of the spring 25 openings allowing access of the liquid in contact with the inner side wall of the pad.
The coil 28 is curved into a ring of an appropriate diameter so as to slightly separate the walls of the buffer 24 at its level and its top is located below the upper end of the buffer.
The inner walls of the tubular felt 24 thus gradually approach each other along the inclined turns 26, 27, 28 to meet above the last turn 28 of the feed element.
The stopper is lined with a removable wick 99 made of cotton or other flexible material, intended to close the upper orifice of the supply element and passing through the latter over its entire length to protect it from being blocked by the deposit of elements in suspension which can form inside the supply element during a prolonged stay in the inclined or inverted position of the bottle, during transport for example.
This wick 29, which passes right through the element 25 and the plug 24, has a sufficient length to be able to be removed easily by pulling from its end which is provided for this purpose with a ring 30 or other device.
The wick with its ring is folded back along the buffer, so that it can be lo ger inside the cap. closure 5 screwed onto the cap 4 itself.
The wick 29 is permanently removed before the first use of the spreader device; it is of no use thereafter and therefore no longer needs to be replaced.
In use, when the pad is moved in both directions on the object to be moistened, the lateral pressures exerted alternately on the pad d, in the, denx direction f and fi de- form the latter and the turns 26 , 27, 28 which tend to approach and move away alternately from each other in the vertical plane. These deformations break up the deposit of suspended elements, which may have formed in the capacity 32 of the buffer as a result of a momentary stopping of the flow; the disaggregated deposit is entrained by the liquid as it passes.
Under the effect of the alternating pressures opposed to each other, the last coil 28, formed in a ring, the inclination of which with respect to the vertical is very small, undergoes slight variations of inclination which produce in 33 a low reciprocating spacing of the lips of the pad 24. A small orifice 33 is thus created with each movement allowing a weak intermittent flow of liquid not filtered by the felt 24 and ensuring the entrainment of the solid particles remaining in the capacity 32.
When stopped, the turns return to their normal position in FIG. 10, the greater recess of the last turn 28 allowing the lips to approach the end of the tampon and preventing the flow of liquid by gravity.
