Description

Process for the preparation of a monoazo dye. The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of a monoazo dye. The process is characterized in that the diazo compound of 2-amino-4'-methyl-1,1'-diphenylsulfide-4-carboxylic acid n-amyl ester in acidic medium with 2-amino-8-oxy-naphthalene-6 - sulfonic acid couples.

The new monoazo dye obtained is a red-brown powder that dissolves in hot water with bluish red and in concentrated sulfuric acid with blue-violet color and dyes wool from neutral or weakly acidic baths in bluish red tones.

Example: 32.9 parts of 2-amino-4'-methyl-1,1'-diphenylsulfide-4-carboxylic acid n-amyl ester are mixed with 25 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid and 25 parts of water triturated and diazotized as usual with 6; 9 parts of sodium nitrite. A solution of the sodium salt of 23.9 parts of 2-amino-8-oxy-naphthalene-6-sulfonic acid in 35 parts of water, which reacts slightly against lackmust, is allowed to flow into the cold diazolösimg.

-The excess mineral acid is blunted with sodium acetate and the deposited monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0030
after coupling has ended, filtered off, washed with sodium chloride solution and dried. It is a red-brown powder that dissolves in hot water with a bluish red color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue-violet color.

Wool is dyed from a neutral or weakly acidic dye bath in bluish red shades with very good wet fastness properties and good light fastness. e
