Solder alloy with silver content. The present invention, due to Mr. René D. Wasserman, relates to a hard sou alloy with a silver content, characterized in that it contains. from 0.2 to 12 0 / o by weight of silver, from 1.0 to 50 0 / o by weight of copper, from 0.5 to 16 0 / o by weight of nickel, from 0.1 to 1 / o in weight of at least one deoxidizing agent, and zinc.
This alloy can be used to braze, weld, braze-braze sheet metal, profiles, tubes, in copper and copper metals such as brass and bronze, and in particular in steel and ferrous metals.
The alloy according to the invention is endowed with unusual mechanical strength and hardness, and at the same time has the advantage of retaining excellent fluidity during brazing or similar operations and of having a very high fluidity. . strong affinity for ferrous materials and steel. In addition to its outstanding mechanical and physical qualities, it possesses to a very high degree the ability to penetrate into the base metal.
Said alloy is very particularly suitable for oxy-acetylene welding, its properties being in no way affected by the high temperatures of the torch.
It may contain, as deoxidizing agent, manganese, phosphorus and / or silicon and, in addition, tin and / or cadmium.
The overall manganese, phosphorus or silicon content of the alloy can vary from 0.1 to 1% by weight, these deoxidizers having the effect of improving the brazing properties.
The tin and / or cadmium content can vary from 0.1 to 0.15% by weight.
The limits between which the components of the alloy can fall are as follows:
EMI0001.0014
silver <SEP> from <SEP> 0.2 <SEP> to <SEP> 12 <SEP>% <SEP> in <SEP> weight
<tb> copper <SEP> from <SEP> 10 <SEP> to <SEP> 50 <SEP> / o <SEP> <SEP>
<tb> nickel <SEP> from <SEP> 0.5 <SEP> to <SEP> 16 <SEP> / o <SEP> <B> <SEP> </B>
<tb> silicon <SEP> from <SEP> 0.1 <SEP>. to <SEP> 10/0 <SEP> <SEP>
<tb> zinc <SEP> the <SEP> remains.
The following composition, given by way of example, remains within these limits and gives 5s the desired result:
EMI0001.0016
money <SEP> from <SEP> 0.3 <SEP> to <SEP> 7 <SEP> 0 / o <SEP> in <SEP> weight, <SEP> by <SEP> example <SEP> 2 <SEP> 0 / o <SEP> approximately
<tb> copper <SEP> from <SEP> 15 <SEP> to <SEP> 50 <SEP> 0 / o <SEP> in <SEP> weight, <SEP> by <SEP> example <SEP> 43 <SEP> 0 / o <SEP> approximately
<tb> nickel <SEP> from <SEP> 9 <SEP> to <SEP> 12 <SEP> 0 / o <SEP> in <SEP> weight, <SEP> by <SEP> example <SEP> 11 <SEP> % <SEP> approximately
<tb> silicon <SEP> from <SEP> 0.1 <SEP> to <SEP> 10 / o <SEP> in <SEP> weight, <SEP> by <SEP> example <SEP> 0.3 <SEP> 0 / o <SEP> approximately
<tb> zinc <SEP> the remaining <SEP>.
The alloy object. The invention may be molded in the form of rods which can be used for brazing, preferably on steel or other ferrous metals. The alloy deposited has, in addition to high tensile strength and other appreciable characteristics, mechanical and physical properties superior to those of similar welds known heretofore.
