Description
Cooling device for a liquid insulating medium on high-voltage equipment. Oil is often used as an isolating agent against high voltage in electrical equipment arranged in a grounded container. X-ray tubes are z. B. in this way protected against touching highly stressed parts.
If heat develops in the device that can spread through the insulating material, it must be cooled. For this purpose, you can let the liquid circulate and be that it passes a device in which the temperature is reduced. The absorbed heat is dissipated. A quick and expedient heat dissipation also results from the use of a cooling liquid which flows through a pipe installed in the device. The most suitable liquid for this purpose is water.
These devices, known as liquid coolers, have the disadvantage that if the part of the cooling tube intended for supplying the cooling liquid is in contact with the air in the container of the insulating agent, the tube is covered with a thin condensation water. looks overdone. The water gets into the insulating agent and deteriorates its insulating properties.
It reduces the breakdown voltage, which in the course of time will cause arcing between parts of the apparatus under high voltage and the protective jacket.
This disadvantage does not occur if the cooling tube is inserted into the insulating means below the liquid level. The invention avoids the disadvantage mentioned.
In the device according to the invention, the cooling tube is surrounded by a hollow body which extends below the surface of the liquid to be cooled and is closed at the lower end except for an opening allowing the cooling tube to pass through and at the upper end is connected to the wall of the container for the insulating agent .
An exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing.
The drawing shows only that part of the wall 1 of the oil container through which the oil volume 2 extends through the cooling pipe 4 up to. In the wall 1 there is an opening with a. z. B. a few times larger cross-section than that which the tube 4 has. An air layer 3 is contained between the wall 1 and the liquid level. On the wall 1 is a hollow body 5, for.
B. a cylindrical socket attached. This is around the pipe 4 and extends below the oil level. The lower end of the socket 5 is closed by the base 6, which is provided with an opening for the tube 4 to pass through. The edge of the opening is connected to the pipe so that no oil can express itself. Instead of a socket attached to the wall, the wall 1 can also be provided with an indentation.
The temperatures of the wall of the socket 5 and those of the oil volume of the cooler are almost the same, so that no condensation forms on the outside of the socket 5, which could lead to a deterioration in the insulating properties of the oil.
