Fig. 5 zeigt die Nadelführung 4 von unten gesehen.
Needle injectors for internal combustion engines. The combustion chamber of internal combustion engines, in particular diesel engines with a subdivided combustion chamber, requires in many cases the injection of the fuel in a jet that is widened to a more or less blunt cone envelope.
For this purpose, cones have been attached to the nozzle needle, which protrude into the atomization bore and possibly, in cooperation with recesses, edges or the like provided in the nozzle bore, form an annular gap through which the injection jet is opened to a certain cone angle. This construction gives certain manufacturing difficulties, in particular due to the need for the absolutely precise centering of the uvula with the seat.
In addition, the annular gap, which must have a width of a few hundredths of a millimeter, is exposed to the risk of contamination, especially when the engine is switched off. These cleaning agents are usually washed away again when the engine is running; however, they make it difficult to start the engine due to poor atomization.
Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to provide a needle injection nozzle which is not exposed to the above difficulties. The solution to the problem is achieved according to the present invention in that the entry of the fuel coming from the injection pump into an annular space arranged around a shoulder of the nozzle needle directly in front of the needle seat takes place via swirl channels which are directed in such a way that the fuel in this annulus a rotational movement is issued.
If only one atomization hole is available, depending on the strength of this rotational movement in connection with the choice of the diameter of the atomization hole,
the length of the atomizing hole and the needle stroke a more or less strongly opened atomizing cone. By changing these various variation options, however, even if the atomization angle is kept constant, a change in the penetrating power of the injected fuel can be brought about.
The swirl channels, which generate the rotation in the annular space mater of the needle shoulder, can be arranged in the needle guide itself by penetrating from the outside to the inside to the needle guide bore. Such designs can be produced particularly well in connection with needle seats which are separated from the cylindrical needle guides. @ Particularly practical solutions in terms of production result if these swirl channels are left out of the needle.
The invention can be applied to both needle nozzles, the seat of which is designed as a conical valve in the usual way, as well as to the known shapes of plan, flat or ring seats in the valves, in the latter case of course the influence of the fuel passage through the Needle seat is more to be counted among the factors determining the atomization than in the former case.
Although the invention is primarily intended for the injection nozzles described at the beginning, which generate the cone-shaped jet lying in the needle axis, i.e. with an atomizing hole lying in the needle axis, it is also primarily intended to reduce the atomizing hole Needle axis is inclined or if there are several atomization bores.
The influence of the measures according to the invention will then primarily have the effect of giving the corresponding nozzle jets a strong air lock and a lower penetration force. In addition, an improvement which the invention can give to all such needle nozzles is a better keeping of the needle seat free of dirty particles by flushing them away somewhat better.
In the drawing, for example, embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown.
1 shows an axial section through a first embodiment of the needle nozzle, in which both the annular spaces and the swirl channels are saved out on the nozzle needle, Fig. 2 shows an axial section through a second embodiment of the needle nozzle, in which the swirl channels through the Nozzle needle are drilled through, Fig. 3 is a cross section along line III-III in Fig. 2,
4 shows an axial .Section through a third embodiment of the needle nozzle, in which the upper or outer annular space and the swirl channels are formed in the guide of the nozzle needle, FIG. 5 shows a cross section along line VV in FIG. 4, with the screw connection body and nozzle holder are omitted
6 shows an axial section through a fourth embodiment of the needle nozzle and FIG. 7 shows a cross section along line VII-VII in FIG. 6.
In .Fig.l 1 denotes the lower end of the nozzle holder, whose 'coil spring 2 loads the nozzle needle 3. The nozzle needle 3 is sealingly fitted into the needle guide 4 and, after the combustion chamber, closes the injection opening 5 with the needle seat 6 designed as a face seal. The injection opening '5 is arranged in the nozzle plate 7, which in turn is pressed by the screw connection 8 together with the needle guide 4 against the nozzle holder 1.
The fuel passes through the fuel pressure channel 9 from the nozzle holder into the distributor ring space 10 of the needle guide under the delivery surge of the injection point. From the annular space 10, the fuel is fed through one or more fuel channels 11 to the upper annular space 12, which is made by a corresponding puncture in the nozzle needle 3 opposite the cylindrical wall tang of the needle guide 4.
From the upper annulus 1,2 the fuel can now gelan gene into the lower annulus 13 under the shoulder of the needle 3 only through the screw grooves (swirl channels) 1-1, so that it corresponds to the cross section and the direction of these swirl channels in the un tern annulus 13 rotates more or less strongly in a desired, precisely controllable manner.
If the fuel pressure during the delivery stroke of the injection pump under the needle shoulder in the annular space 13 has risen so much that the closing pressure of the helical spring 2 is overcome, the needle 3 rises and the seat 6 of the needle opens the way to the injection opening 5.
The atomizing jet, which enters the combustion chamber from the atomizing hole 5, is now designed on the one hand in accordance with that of the spring 2, from the size of the needle shoulder above the annular space 13, from the diameter of the needle 13, from which the injection pump supplies Amount per unit of time and from the dimensioning of the atomization bore 5 re sulting pressure and on the other hand accordingly the direction and speed of the rotating fuel in the annular space 13.
The greater the rotational speed of the fuel, the more the fuel cone is widened.
The loading spring 2 transmits its pressure to the nozzle needle 3 on a bearing surface of small diameter, so that the recoil that occurs when the fuel emerges from the swirl channels 14 into the annular space 13 is sufficient to turn the needle into a slight swiveling movement To offset rotation.
The fuel channels 11 are in their, a less acute angle to the needle axis having lower part before putting on the nozzle plate 7 drilled from the side of the nozzle plate. Through this detail training, the manufacture of the injection nozzle is made much easier because the passage of the channel 11 at a very acute angle into the main bore for the needle 3 results in sharp burrs and the like, which are always a great danger for the high pressure injection.
In Fig. 2 an embodiment is shown, which differs from the first described by the fact that once a needle with a conical seat is used instead of a flat needle and that on the other hand, the connection paths between the upper annular space 12 -Lind dem that generate the rotation of the fuel Annular space 13 under the needle shoulder are made by eccentric holes through the needle.
2 shows in this sense a needle nozzle element, consisting of the Nadelfüh tion 4 and the nozzle needle 3. Here, too, the fuel passes through one or more bores 11 into the upper annular space 12, which in the present embodiment is a puncture in the needle guide 4 is made. The connection from this annular space 1 2 to the lower annular space 1ss under the needle shoulder is made by two bores 14, which guide the fuel tangentially into the annular space 13 in order to generate a more or less strong rotation.
This embodiment has the advantage that the cylindrical surface of the needle, with the exception of the small entry points of the bores 14, is not interrupted, which for the manufacture of the fine fit of the needle 3 in the needle guide 4, especially between your upper annulus 1,2 and the lower annular space 13, is advantageous. The seat 6 of the needle 3 is arranged directly in the needle guide 4 as a conical seat in this embodiment. The atomization bore 5 is also made in the needle guide 4 itself.
FIG. 3 shows a section through the nozzle element according to FIG. 2 at the level of the upper annular space 12 and, in particular, shows the arrangement of the upper annular space 12 and the bores 14.
A particularly favorable design in terms of production is shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 Darge. These show a needle nozzle of the flat seat design. The nozzle needle 3 closes the injection opening 5 through the flat seat 6. The seat of the needle is arranged on the plate 7, which is ground flat. This plate 7 also seals the annular space 12 into which the fuel from the injection pump enters via the bores 11.
Fig. 5 shows the needle guide 4 seen from below. The swirl channels 14 arranged tangentially to the annular space 13 can be seen there, which guide the fuel from the annular groove 1.2 into the annular space 1! 3 in front of the needle seat 6.
The channels 14 are recessed here from the needle guide part 4 on the sealing surface against the nozzle plate 7. But they could also be cut out from the plate 7.
For the use of a conical needle seat, an embodiment according to FIGS. 6 and 7 is preferred. Here the needle guide 4 itself contains the seat 6 of the conical needle 3. The fuel coming through the bores 11 from the Piunpe is then passed into the tangential bores 14, which release the fuel into the annular space 13. The entry and thus Ro tation speed of the fuel in the annular space 13 is determined by the dimensioning. and the direction of the swirl channels 14 depending on the desired atomization cone.
The 'tangential bores or swirl channels 14 are drilled through the auxiliary bores 15, the auxiliary bores 15 are subsequently grafted and welded.
In all examples, the annular space 13 is arranged directly in front of the needle seat.
