Fitting for connecting a pipe to a smooth tubular member. There currently exist on the market a host of hydraulic devices for household, craft or professional use. However, the. Distribution of these devices is made difficult by the wide variety of faucets installed. Indeed, due to this great variety of taps, the connection of these devices is difficult to achieve, especially in the case of taps with smooth spouts. These nozzles are of very variable diameter, so that a rubber sleeve, even flanged, is, as practice has proved, absolutely insufficient when the pressure exceeds one or two atmospheres.
The present invention relates to a connector making it possible to connect a pipe to a smooth tubular organ which is characterized by a body having an axial bore opening into a recess provided with a sealing member and intended to receive the end. duidit smooth tubular member and carrying, on the one hand, one of the parts of a coupling making it possible to connect said body to a pipe and, on the other hand, fastening members make it possible to fix said body on the end of the tubular organ.
According to the appended drawing, given by way of example, the connector comprises a body of revolution 1 having an axial bore 2 which plugs into a recess 3. This body 1 has at one of its ends a standardized thread 4, for example 3/8 gas, constituting one of the parts of a coupling for fixing to the body 1 a pipe or a pipe.
The bottom of the recess 3 has a groove 5 in which is placed a sealing ring 6 made of flexible and elastic material, such as rubber for example.
Finally, the body 1 is provided with three screws 7 passing radially through the wall of the recess 3 and provided with a point. These screws make it possible to fix the body 1 on the end of a tubular member 8 constituted, for example, by the end of a tap with a smooth spout.
To fix the body 1 on the member 8, it suffices to engage the body on this member and to exert a thrust in the direction of the arrow a during the tightening of the fixing screws 7, so that the end 9 of this organ 8 appli that the ring 6 in the groove 5 and is imprinted in this ring.
By examining the attached drawing, it can be seen that the difference between the pressure prevailing in the space in which the fluid circulates and the atmospheric pressure prevailing in the annular space formed by the outer wall of the member 8 and the internal wall of the recess 3 tends to push the ring 6 back into this annular space and therefore to ensure the sealing of the seal by self-tightening.
The lower and upper limits of the external diameters of tubular members lis its 8 that the same connector can receive while ensuring the tightness, are between the i diameter of the recess 3 and the internal diameter of the ring 6. By the judicious choice of these two diameters, the manufacturer has the. possibility of making a connection which can be fixed on roofs the taps with smooth spout which may be present when using a given device, for example on roofs the kitchen taps.
An embodiment of the connector according to the invention has been described here with reference to the appended drawing, but it goes without saying that the various elements and members described can without further be replaced by equivalent elements. Thus, for example, the thread 4 could be replaced by one of the parts of another type of coupling, such as a bayonet coupling for example. Likewise, the number of screws 7 could be greater than three.
