L'invention a aussi pqur objet une machine pour la mise en oeuvre de ce procédé, cette machine étant caractérisée en ce qu'elle com porte deux cylindres de forgeage identiques munis de nervures dont la forme correspond aux parties en creux de la pièce à obtenir par forgeage; deux arbres d'entraînement paral lèles pour porter ces cylindres côte-à-côte; des moyens pour entraîner ces deux arbres simul tanément à la même vitesse de rotation quel que soit leur écartement; des moyens pour écarter et pour pousser l'un vers l'autre ces deux arbres;
des moyens pour maintenir et supporter l'ébauche de façon que son axe reste constamment dans le- plan formé par les axes des cylindres au cours du forgeage; des moyens pour amener l'ébauche entre les cylin dres forgeurs écartés, avant forgeage, et pour retirer ,cette ébauche après forgeage;
Le procédé, objet de l'invention, permet notamment de forger, en. ime seule chaude, un foret hélicoïdal de texture homogène et serrée; ce foret peut être trempé aussitôt après forgeage si on a soin de l'amener à la température désirée;
Au début du forgeage (fig. 1), l'ébauche 3 est dans la position représentée sur la fig. 1, elle se trouve serrée, d'une part, entre les ner vures 4 des cylindres 1 et 2, d'autre part, entre les arêtes horizontales des supports 5 et 6, et exactement dans une position où l'axe de cette ébauche 3 est dans le plan des axes des cylindres 1 et 2 et à égale distance de ces axes;
Process and machine for forging a part of generally cylindrical shape having recessed parts and in particular a twist drill. The invention relates to a process for hot forging a part of generally cylindrical shape, having recessed parts, in particular of a twist drill, a process characterized in that a blank is formed gradually and continuously. brought to the forging temperature between two identical forging cylinders parallel to each other, provided with projecting parts corresponding to the recessed parts of said part,
that these two cylinders are rotated at the same speed and the blank in the opposite direction at the same speed multiplied by the ratio of the number of projecting parts of one of the forging rolls to the number of hollow parts of the cylindrical part, that we maintain. the blank between two supports so that its axis remains constantly in the plane formed by the axes of the rolls during forging.
The invention also relates to a machine for implementing this method, this machine being characterized in that it comprises two identical forging cylinders provided with ribs the shape of which corresponds to the recessed parts of the part to be obtained. by forging; two parallel drive shafts to carry these cylinders side by side; means for driving these two shafts simultaneously at the same rotational speed regardless of their spacing; means for separating and for pushing these two trees towards each other;
means for maintaining and supporting the blank so that its axis remains constantly in the plane formed by the axes of the rolls during forging; means for bringing the blank between the spaced forging cylinders, before forging, and for removing this blank after forging;
and means for rotating the blank, at least at the start of forging, in the opposite direction to the forging rolls and at the speed of these rolls multiplied by the ratio of the number of ribs of one of the rolls to the number of parts in hollow of the room.
This machine makes it possible to forge a cylindrical blank with a coefficient. of penetration approaching 100%, this coefficient being defined by the ratio of the advancement distance of the rolls towards each other (from the first contact of the rolls with the blank until the end of the forging) to the dia meter of the blank before forging.
The method, object of the invention, makes it possible in particular to forge, in. a single hot one, a twist drill of homogeneous and tight texture; this drill can be quenched immediately after forging if care is taken to bring it to the desired temperature;
then it suffices to re-grind it. A quality tool is thus obtained, the cost price of which is reduced compared with that of drills obtained by other methods, because the. The labor expenditure required for its machining is relatively low and, moreover, the manufacture by the method causes practically no loss of metal.
The attached drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the means for implementing the method.
Fig. 1 is a quick sectional diagram of a blank clamped between two forging cylinders at the start of forging.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the blank. fig. 1 and forging cylinders at the end of forging.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view after forging of the blank of the -fig. 1, the forging cylinders being spaced apart to allow the forging to be removed.
Fig. 4 is a top plan view of a machine for hot forging drills. Fig. 5 is a sectional view along V-V of FIG. 4.
In all the figLires of the drawing, the reference indexes 1 and 2 denote two forging cylinders, 3, a cylindrical blank to be forged and 3f, this same blank afterwards. forging.
The cylinders1 and 2, identical, have helical ribs4 corresponding to the grooves of a forging drill. The blank 3 is maintained during forging, at its lower part and at its upper part, between two supports 5 and 6, the position of which is adjustable as will be seen. The cylinders 1 and 2 have their parallel axes arranged in the same horizontal plane and the supports 5 and 6 each have a horizontal edge parallel to these axes.
At the start of forging (fig. 1), the blank 3 is in the position shown in fig. 1, it is clamped, on the one hand, between the ribs 4 of the cylinders 1 and 2, on the other hand, between the horizontal edges of the supports 5 and 6, and exactly in a position where the axis of this blank 3 is in the plane of the axes of cylinders 1 and 2 and equidistant from these axes;
the rolls 1 and 2 both turn at the same speed, for example, in the direction indicated by the arrows, while the blank 3 turns in the opposite direction, its drive being ensured, at the start of forging, by a drive device linked aii drive device let rolls 2, as will be seen below.
11 at the end of forging (fig. 2), the ribs 4 have entered the body of the blank 3 which becomes a forged part designated 3f; then separates (Fig. 3) the cylinders 1 and 2 from one another, at the same time that the support 6 is raised and the support 5 is lowered to release and move away. 3f forging hand bare, as will be seen, in the clamps of a spindle.
The forging machine shown in Figs. 4 and 5 is equipped with two forged cylinders 1 and 2 provided with helical ribs 4 arranged for the forging of twist drills. This machine comprises a fixed frame 7 carrying fixed bearings for a shaft 8 on which the cylinder 1 is keyed. The cylinder S is mounted on a shaft 9 carried by a frame 10 which can slide on the frame 7 in a direction perpendicular to the sides. axes of cylinders 1 and 2; this sliding is caused by two hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders 11 and 12.
A bar 13 integral with the frame 10 carries an adjustable stop 14 intended to bear on a solid stop 15 of the frame 7 in order to limit the movement of the bar 13 and thereby the bringing together of the cylinders 1 and 2.
The blank 3 is carried by a spindle 16 rotated by a claw device 17.
Head 18 bearing the. spindle 16 can be advanced or refitted by means of hydraulic or pneumatic jacks 19 which determine the displacement of the spindle parallel to the axes of cylinders 1 and 2.
The spindle head 18 is itself carried by a carriage 20 mounted to slide, on a horizontal table 21, in a direction perpendicular to the axes of the cylinders 1 and 2.
A bar 22, articulated, on the one hand, on the frame 10 about a vertical axis 23, on the other hand, driven by a vertical axis 24 integral with the frame, but adjustable, in turn drives the carriage 20 by, a vertical axis 25. The axis 25 is equidistant from the axes 23 and 24, so that the movements of the carriage 10 are transmitted to the carriage 20 - with an amplitude half less. The supports 5 and 6 (of which only the support 5 is shown in FIG. 4) are integral with the carriage 20.
These supports 5-6 are mounted in frames 26-27 with vertical smooth neck; they themselves have transverse slides symmetrically inch born with respect to the horizontal and in these slides are engaged slides 28-29, fixed to the ends of rods with racks 30-31, forming part of a hydraulic or pneumatic device 32. This device 32 makes it possible to obtain the spacing of the front supports 5-6. and after forging of a blank. There is. It should be noted that during forging, which inflates the part, the supports 5 and 6 deviate slightly so as to remain in contact with the part.
A heating device 33, fuel gas, can be used to maintain a suitable temperature during work.
The machine receives its movement from a motor shaft 34 which can include a positive clutch and braking device, one end of which can be driven by a speed variator making it possible to adopt the speed which is favorable to the operation of the machine. . This shaft 34 is provided with a wheel 35 carrying a chain which drives a wheel 36 and a wheel 37.
The wheel 36 controls, by an integral pinion 38, two identical pinions 39-40; the pinion 39 controls, by means of its shaft 41 and by tangent screw, a helical wheel 42 which drives the shaft 8; the pinion 40 likewise drives a shaft 43 with a tan gente screw controlling a wheel 44 which drives the shaft 9. The shaft 43 is mounted so as to be able to slide in fixed bearings, not shown.
Shaft 45 of the. wheel 37 carries a toothed wheel 46 engaged with a toothed wheel 47, the shaft 48 of which controls a shaft 49 which can be extended by sliding in a sleeve 50, this shaft 49 having at its ends articulations 51 and 52. The articulation 52 Command, by a screw shaft 53, a wheel 51 which drives the spindle 16 in rotation when the dog clutch device 17 is engaged.
The 46-47 wheel set can be easily disassembled and replaced with a different ratio wheel set, when the speed of spindle 16 needs to be changed.
It is understood that other embodiments are possible and that it is the domain of the technician to add to the machine a device for cooling the forging cylinders, for example.
One could in particular mount the spindle 16 so that its axis cannot be moved in translation, while the cylinders 1 and 2, arranged symmetrically on either side of this spindle, could move away from it or from it. simultaneously approach the same distance.
