Description

Multi-directional switch The present invention, due to Albert Bouni, relates to a multi-directional switch.

The switch according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a plate on the periphery of which are arranged movable contact elements, said plate being capable of pivoting abruptly around a ball under the effect of a percussion ap folded on its surface, the whole being arranged in such a way that depending on the location of the point of percussion, relative to said roller, the movable element of a determined contact comes to rest on the fixed element of the corresponding contact placed on an elastic blade, and that, simultaneously, the opening of the contacts which have been previously closed takes place, the other contacts already open being maintained in the open position.

The various percussions on the contact holder plate of the switch according to the invention can be effected, for example, by means of elastic levers, of various lengths, capable of being moved by a clockwork movement. When each of these elastic levers, during its movement, arrives opposite the contact holder plate, its free end climbs a ramp arranged on a fixed plate which is placed at a certain distance from the contact holder plate. The elastic lever is then bandaged.

Then its free end arrives on the edge of the edge of the wafer and suddenly falls on the contact holder plate at a point chosen such that the maneuver indicated above is carried out.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.

Fig. 1 shows in perspective, in a schematic form, this embodiment.

Fig. 2 shows a detail. Fig. 3 shows the switch according to the invention cooperating with a clockwork movement, to constitute a time switch.

In fig. 1, the switch plate is designated as 1. It is made of electrically conductive metal. It can pivot around a metal ball joint 5, supported by a foot 5a fixed on a conductive blade 5b. 6 is. a spring, one end of which is fixed to the plate 1 and the other fork-shaped end of which bears on the part of the ball joint 5 which is opposite to that around which the plate 1 pivots (see FIG. 2). This spring creates a frictional torque which prevents the plate from moving under the influence of the pressure of the elastic blades carrying the fixed contacts or of small vibrations.

In the example shown, the plate 1 carries at its periphery three movable contact elements 2, 3, 4. Opposite these three movable contact elements, are arranged three fixed contact elements 7, 8, 9, fixed respec tively on elastic metal slats 10, 11, 12. The tilting of the plate 1 is limited by three fixed parts 13, 14, 15 on which respectively come up against three columns 16, 17, 18 fixed on the plate 1.

If a percussion is carried out on point 20, for example of plate 1, as indicated by arrow F, the plate swings abruptly so that the contact elements 4 and 9 press strongly against each other. by bending the elastic blade 12. The tilting of the plate 1 is stopped when the two columns 16 and 17, carried by said plate, abut respectively against the fixed parts 13 and 14. This tilting simultaneously causes the removal contact elements 2 and 7, on the one hand, and 3 and 8, on the other hand.

If a subsequent percussion was applied at point 19, it would cause the sudden closing of contacts 2 and 7 and the multiple opening of contacts 4 and 9, while keeping contacts 3 and 8 apart from each other. A similar operation of the switch will take place when another percussion is applied either to point 20 (maneuver already described), or to point 21 (closing of contacts 3 and 8, simultaneous opening of contacts previously closed and keeping in the open position. other contacts).

It can therefore be seen that for a percussion taking place on one of the points 19, 20 or 21 of the plate 1, this one takes. a well defined position for which one of the circuits controlled by the switch is closed, and the others are open. The switch remains in this position until another percussion occurs. The switch thus successively closes each of the various circuits that it controls.

The switch according to the invention does not require mechanical locking. The appliance remains in its correct position thanks to the friction torque exerted by the spring 6 on the ball 5. The pressure of the contacts is due to the elasticity of the metal blades such as 10, 11, 12.

In fig. 3, where the same numbers have the same meaning as in fig. 1 and 2, 23 represents the shaft of a clock movement which drives, in the example shown, a dial 22; 24 is an elastic lever integral with this dial. During the rotation of the dial in the direction of arrow F ', the end 25 of the lever 24 climbs a ramp 29 of a fixed plate 30, which gives it a certain elastic deformation. When this end 25 reaches the edge of the edge 26 of the plate 30, it falls suddenly on the post 18 fixed on the plate 1 and causes said plate to tilt, so that the contacts 4 and 9 close.

Two other levers, similar to 24, but of different length (not shown in fig. 3), also integral with the dial 22, will be elastically deformed by climbing the ramp 29 and will fall respectively, when they reach the edge of the edges 27 and 28, on columns 16 and 17 of plate 1. After having effected their percussion on columns 16, 17, 18, the elastic levers driven by dial 22 continue to rotate and exceed the edge of plate 1. When the lever elastic, which has commanded a contact closure, has passed the edge of the plate 1, the latter is then ready to close other contacts, under the action of the following elastic lever.

It would not be departing from the scope of the invention if the function of the switch were not to open and close circuits, but to reverse the current in one or more circuits.
