Description

Method of manufacturing a belt formed of two strips of leather or of skin joined together, and belt obtained by this process Belts are known formed of two strips of leather or of skin joined flesh to flesh. Belts of this kind are used, for example, for making belts or bracelets.

To manufacture such a belt, we usually start either with two pieces of leather or skin, previously glued, in which the two strips are cut together, or from two strips of the same width which are glued against each other. . In both cases, to avoid the unsightly appearance that the apparent flesh of the leather or the skin presents on each slice, the four edges of the whole are rounded off, therefore the two outer edges of each strap, then smoothed. the two slices thus prepared so as to tighten the fibers of the leather or of the skin and allow the final application of a dye, and sometimes of a worm, of a color related to that of the flower.

In addition to the fact that this process is very expensive, it does not always give a perfect result because, on the one hand, smoothing is sometimes difficult, and, on the other hand, the leathers treated with certain tannings, in particular chrome tanning, have difficulty accepting dye. In any case, it does not make it possible, for example, to properly produce belts with leathers or skins of different colors, because it is practically impossible to dye each of the slices of the belt prepared in two colors properly as it has been. said.

The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a belt formed of two strips of leather or skin stuck flesh to flesh, which avoids the disadvantages, described above, of the known methods.

This process is characterized in that, after having separately cut the two strips of leather or skin, the edges of the flesh side thereof are chamfered and burned, so that the grain of the leather or of the skin retracts and shape, following each of the edges of each strap, a rounded, then the two straps are brought together so that the edges of their rounded edges meet on each edge of the strap, thus leaving only the flower of the two straps visible.

The present method makes it possible, for example, to produce, by the use of two strips of leather or of skin of different colors, two-tone straps whose appearance leaves nothing to be desired.

The invention also extends to a roie court obtained by the method. The drawing shows the various phases of the manufacture of a belt according to an embodiment of the method according to the invention.

Fig. 1 is a cross section, on a large scale, of one of the raw strips. Fig. 2 is a cut of the same after its edges have been chamfered and burnt on the flesh side.

Fig. 3 is a section of the finished belt.

We first cut two strips, 1, of the same width, in leather or skin, either of the same color or of different colors.

Each edge of each edge is then chamfered, then burnt on the flesh side, as is already done in the shoe industry, in particular for the apparent edge of the parts attached to the uppers of shoes. Under the action of heat, the flower lb of the leather or the skin retracts and forms a rounded a (fig. 2).

Finally, (fig. 3), the two strips are joined together, flesh against flesh, by gluing, the connection possibly being completed by a seam, so that the edges of the rounded edges have two strips. meet on each edge of the strap, leaving only the flower of the two straps visible.
