Device for the projection of a cinematographic film moving continuously The displacement of a cinematographic line to be projected is currently ensured by a mechanism which advances the film to be projected by jerks, so that each image is projecting stops a fraction of a second before the objective.
The present invention relates to a positive device for the projection of the images of a cinematographic film moving in a continuous manner.
The drawing shows, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the positive device according to the invention. Only the parts necessary for an understanding of the invention are shown.
Fig. 1 shows the disc in plan.
Fig. 2 shows the disc in side elevation.
Fig. 3 shows it in section along line 1-1 of FIG. 1, seen in the direction from the top of the latter.
Fig. 4 shows the mounted device seen in profile; and fig. 5 shows it in plan.
1 denotes a metal disc having a flat face 2, and provided with a central sleeve 4 perpendicular to the face 2, in which is fixed a shaft 5 in relation to a mechanism intended to print it, as well as to the dis than 1, a rotational movement in the direction of arrow 11.
The other face 3 has a large projecting reflective spiral surface 6, the line limiting its axial cross section of which is at all points perpendicular to the axis of the disc. Its terminal external corner points 7 and 8 are offset from each other parallel to the axis of the disc, so as to be at a distance from each other equal to the height of an image on a straight line intersecting said axis at an angle α of forty-five degrees.
In fig. 4 and 5, there is shown in profile and in plan the disc 1 and a film 9 in the position they occupy in the device ready to operate. In these figures, 11 designates the direction of rotation of the disc and 11I the direction of movement of the film, 10 of which designates the uninterrupted line of images to be projected.
mn designates a window with a width equal to that of the images and a length equal to the height of two consecutive images, and through which a light source, not shown, illuminates the film from below in the direction of the arrow IV.
Here is how the device described and represented is used: the disc being set in motion and occupying, at moment zero, the position represented in FIGS. 4 and 5, we move the film 9 in the direction of the arrow 111 so as to make it advance by the height of one frame during a complete rotation of the disk around its axis in the direction of arrow 11. So that after these moves, the beginning of an image which was at point 7 is at point 8.
The change of image takes place, on the screen, not shown, at the moment when the disc, having made a complete revolution, presents in the following image the reflecting surface shifted by an image height as a result of the configuration and radial width of the surface 6.
