Description

Lathes of known types generally comprise a group of tool holders controlled by cams fixed on a camshaft rotating in fixed bearings located near the cams.

The precision of the parts machined on such lathes depends primarily on the precision of the control members of the tool holders. These controls have their origin in the cams, which justifies an adjustment of the camshaft in its bearings with the least possible play. In a plain bearing, this play cannot be completely eliminated, because an oil film must remain. If the tolerances of the part to be machined are of the order of a few thousandths of a mm, the clearance required by the oil film is still too great, since it cannot be less than 0.01 mm.

The oil film has a variable thickness, depending on the operating conditions (speed, temperature) and it crashes according to the specific pressure, i.e. the camshaft is offset in the sense of the force acting on it and, as a result, the position of the tool is changed. In turning lathes, the camshaft is subjected alternately to high pressures exerted in various directions and, as a result, the precision of the workpiece depends largely on the play of the shaft in its bearing.

The present invention relates to a turning lathe comprising tool holders controlled from cams fixed on at least one camshaft rotating in bearings, at least one of which, located near the cams, is provided with a bearing bearing. needles.

In this turn, the aforementioned drawbacks are avoided owing to the fact that said camshaft sleeve bearing is needle-type and allows a clearance-free adjustment. To this end, this bearing comprises a sleeve-bearing co nique externally, housed in the conical bore of the bearing, this sleeve-bushing, the cylindrical bore of which constitutes the outer raceway of the needles, being shaped so as to be able to be elastically deformed by compression in the direction radial and in that this compression is adjustable by moving said sleeve-bearing along the axis of said shaft.

The appended drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of a bearing with adjustable clearance which is intended for the decolleter lathe, object of the invention, to support the camshaft.

Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the first of these two adjustable clearance bearings. Fig. 2 is a cross section thereof; and fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of the second of these two adjustable clearance bearings. In fig. 1 and 2, the bearing comprises a support with a conical bore a forming a bearing body, in which is carried, by means of a sleeve-bearing b, the camshaft c of the turning lathe, this sleeve-bearing having a conical outer surface corresponding to the conical inner surface of the support a. Between this sleeve-bearing b and over a certain length of the camshaft reduced in diameter, is disposed a ring of needles d.

It is therefore the camshaft itself which constitutes the inner raceway of the needles, but the latter could be formed by the outer cylindrical surface of a sleeve fixed to the camshaft. In either case, the outer rolling path of the needles d is formed by the inner cylindrical surface of the bearing sleeve b fixed in the bearing body by means of a stud screw which engages in an entry of this sleeve-pad.

The taper bore support has, on the side of its larger diameter, an internal thread into which is screwed an externally threaded ring which presses against one end of the bushing-bush b which is set so that its diameter may decrease elastically, either because of its small wall thickness or because it is slit obliquely over its entire length. The same effect would also be obtained by providing, instead of an oblique slit, a chevron-shaped or helical-shaped slit.

Thus the sleeve-bearing is radially and elastically compressed uniformly over its entire length, so that the clearance of the needles between their two inner and outer rolling surfaces can be reduced and even over-suppressed.

The needle bearing according to fig. 3 differs from that shown in fi-. 1 and 2 by the fact that it includes two needle rings the m. On the other hand, the sleeve-bearing n presents, on the side of its smaller diameter, a cylindrical extension with external thread n1 carrying a nut o.

Thus, unlike the bearing according to Figs 1 and 2, in which the sleeve-bearing is pushed into the bearing body by screwing the ring e, this sleeve-bearing is pulled into the bearing body by screwing the bearing nut o according to fi-. 3, the aim, in both cases, being to reduce the needle play by compressing the sleeve-bearing.

These bearings have the following advantages: radial play is practically eliminated due to the disappearance of the oil film as it occurs in a sliding bearing.

The low height of the bearing section allows a large diameter of the camshaft and, therefore, high rigidity.

The sleeve-bearing is easily mounted and adjusted in the bearing.

Bearing clearance can be adjusted and eliminated while the shaft is rotating.

Wear of the bearing can be compensated by retightening the sleeve-bearing. Lubrication of the bearing can be done without special precautions, for example by means of a simple wick oiler.
